  1. The website is set up for your VC status for the date new cruise and your status at that time. We were looking for 2023 before the extension of status was announced due to covid. Our status showed as Non VC for 2023. After the 1 year extension, we were able to book the cruise with Diamond status in place.
  2. We also have used the pre paid laundry package on MSC. We chose the 40 item package. This was before the big price increase. We were told all 40 items were sent at once. NO sending two deliveries of 20 items each. Before Covid, this was allowed for YC guests. When we received our laundry back, it was terrible. Barely folded and jammed back into the paper bag. I had a pair of white jeans that were now light green. 3 T shirts and 4 underwear had rips in them. I asked our Butler why the laundry was so terrible. (We have had a good experience before) He just shrugged, and said this is how it was when he picked it up. We threw away the ruined clothes. We will not purchase this package again.
  3. Sorry, MSC recently changed to pay difference.
  4. Since you are sailing in the YC, the options for coffee will be pretty extensive. We have ordered cappuccino, espresso, decaf latte and iced mocha coffee. They have half and half or milk. Steamed milk is used for cappuccino and lattes. Bar in YC lounge has great espresso machine and bartender can make whatever you are in the mood for.
  5. DC2023 - Welcome to Cruise Critic ! Also ,Welcome to Seattle. So sorry NCL continues down this road...continuing to reduce onboard offerings for passengers. Not sure how long they think that passengers will be OK with these actions to cut costs. On the positive side, the sail away today is beautiful. Hope you are able to enjoy your cruise and Alaska.
  6. If you price out a cruise with options for cruise only and the current promo - OBC with drink and WiFi- and then, select YC . The price shown , if promo selected, is the same as cruise only - if YC is selected. It used to not be this way. A promo with drinks and WiFi was more expensive if you selected YC, even though they are included in YC. I would have to explain to TA, book basic fare because YC included drinks and WiFi.
  7. During covid, when many cruises were cancelled, the whole accounting side of the business was a big mess. Many had issues with trying to get refunds for those cancelled cruises. For us, I had to do a charge back on our credit card for our cancelled cruise. Recently, I think the business side of MSC is doing a better job with refunds. We recently cancelled a cruise and were told the "2-3 billing cycle" standard response. The refund actually showed up on credit card account within 3 weeks.
  8. TA called MSC and they would not do VC discount as she was in the Welcome phase of the Voyagers Club and no points were in the account. I did status match with her one Princess cruise a few years ago. It got her to match to Classic with MSC and now we can get VC 5% discount applied to this cruise. Thanks for all the input from fellow CC members!
  9. I feel I should temper some of the expectations for YC experience on MSC. Much of what you experience is ship dependent. On Meraviglia class or SEA class ships, outdoor grill and buffet is really nice and provide a good alternative for breakfast and lunch in dining room. YC restaurant is in the YC enclave . Cabins have coffee makers along with mini bar ( fridge) Thermal Spa area is really nice. On Fantasia class ships , Divina, Preziosa etc, the YC experience is not at same level. No coffee makers in cabins. We have to order room service each morning to have coffee in cabin. We have found this service is hit or miss. YC restaurant is at aft part of ship. Outdoor grill and buffet is very small and offerings are very limited. They have one or two hot plates for eggs( omelets) and then they do a pasta dish with that for lunch. When we ordered a cheeseburger, they had to go downstairs and get it from kitchen. No seafood extravaganza on pool deck. No cabanas on pool deck. Afternoon tea is in YC lounge. Thermal spa area is just steam room and sauna. 4 loungers in rest area. We sail for itinerary and not ship. It is a let down when we realize what older YC’s are like. (This depends on ship) Room service is very limited and does not include pizza.
  10. I was just looking at T & C for Voyagers Club. It does state that VC discount benefit is after first cruise. Our daughter just booked a cruise and then used booking number to apply for VC membership. If I apply that membership number to a booking online, there is not discount shown. Does it need a call to MSC to have it applied, even if full payment has been made? (Final payment is actually 10 days from today.)
  11. Also be aware that there are restrictions for a baby to travel on cruise ship. Domestic cruise travel for infant is 6 months. International cruise travel is 12 months, if there are more than 2 or 3 days at sea. This is dependent on specific cruise company.
  12. This happens with other cruise lines. Be aware that decision has a deadline, as per email you received. We have used this situation to our advantage. We had YC booking and had decided we wanted to cancel. Booking was a year out. Waited to see if there was a change. Finally, we received email from MSC with itinerary change. 3 Options given to us. -Accept change and do nothing. -reschedule your cruise to another date and/to ship. Prevailing rate for new cruise would apply. -cancel and request refund for amount paid. There is a deadline for making a decision. We contacted our TA and requested cancellation and refund for deposit. He had me forward email to him. He did not received notice yet. Sometimes it can also be a good thing… we had 10 day change to different itinerary and ship. When I checked our booking, they moved us From YC Grand Deluxe Suite to Royal Suite for same fare.
  13. Yes, can only be used after you get onboard. MSC does allow OBC to be applied to Daily Service Charge, which is helpful. We also use it to offset room charges in the casino.
  14. Thanks Hank. i have the same concerns. I have been watching it and there are 18 cabins still available. I still think she should book before final payment, so her TA would get the commission. Pat
  15. This is how our sign looked on Meraviglia.
  16. I think that current promos can only be applied if your category is still available. You can call your TA to see if they can apply this promo to your cruise. The confusing thing I noticed is that T & C for promo states, "up to $400 OBC for Suites and YC " for the longer cruises . I have not been able to get the $400 OBC to show on YC Suites for those longer cruises. It always shows $200 OBC under summery for those longer cruises.
  17. Another slightly related question… Our daughter wants to cruise MSC Itinerary she really likes. Has not booked yet. she is Still trying to figure out their work schedules before booking YC cabin, Final payment is June 1 for that cruise. What is the downside to waiting until after final payment date to book YC? Also, if they book cabin and her husband cannot travel due to work. Can he just be a no show ? Or should she book as solo ( no solo offers ) and then add him to booking when he clears work schedule?
  18. There is still some discounts offered for Voyagers Club when booking.

  20. Unless they are Andrea Bocelli fans 😉
  21. I would save your money. Only reason I would book a cabana is if we were with a group or extended family. Beach is not very swimmable. Lots of rocks along the shore, bring water shoes if you are going into water. We usually sail in RS and were very happy with loungers and umbrellas. YC towels on all loungers and butlers come around to serve drinks. Lunch at Ocean House 12-2. We walked over to beach beyond the YC restaurant, to the left. very nice beach. lots of sand and beautiful water. When we go back, I would spend more time over there. It is not considered YC beach area.
  22. Private Island (To save everyone else from going back)
  23. We had 15 day cruise. Booking had 1 number. It ended up being a B2B. Sold in Europe as such. We still had to do the off and on dance. Funny, we ended up getting voyager points for only 7 days on this cruise. After repeated emails , no answer or additional points posted to account.
  24. No wine, beer, liquor, bottled water, energy drinks or soda can be brought on board during embarkation. No corkage fee or allowances like other cruise lines.
  25. We are looking forward to your review and insights on your cruise in June.
