  1. It depends on how early you arrive at the terminal and if checked in before general boarding has commenced.
  2. I have read that at least some guests who post here have contacted EZ-Air in these situations (and perhaps a supervisor was engaged) and been able to have flights changed after a booked flight has been cancelled and not pay any additional fare cost for the change. I cannot say if this only works when the airline default will cause the guest to miss the ship, or whether also works in a situation like the OP where the new flight time creates a burdensome travel itinerary. It is certainly worth pounding sand with EZ-Air to see what they can do before either accepting the new itinerary or re-booking at a new fare cost.
  3. Tag the post and use REPORT to ask a CC M*derat*r to delete it.
  4. As you went through the SD res steps, did you see a total cost of $35/$39 per person? Did it not indicate charging to your CC on file? That's what I would expect. Have you checked your credit card transactions? I don't believe that DMW reservations show up in CP Payments page. If you are not sure, go ahead an mock book another night, but don't do the final commit step that books and charges you.
  5. Or that runs more than one flight per day between the airports in question.
  6. I suppose even for domestic, if EZ-Air is close to the airline pricing, I would choose EZ-Air. Another factor would be the airline involved and whether it is possible to do seat selection prior to ticketing. I don't factor in airline-induced changes because that can happen no matter which way I book. I suppose there are also airlines I would prefer and not prefer due to perceived reputation or for FF points (not that I will ever be anyone's top tier flyer again in my life). For international, the flexibility to shop and re-book - including completely different airline, and different airlines going and returning - is an amazing benefit. No question in my mind it is the way to go. I know that through diligent monitoring and changing I booked the absolute lowest business fares for the dates we flew to and from Rome this past Fall. Unfortunately for us (and nothing to do with nabbing those low fares), both transatlantic legs had "last minute" equipment changes (it was two different airlines as well) such that we got "stuck" with old-style business class seating instead of the new style that was in most aircraft. This sort of "luck" is probably why I don't win the lottery.
  7. The Lido is named for the pools (along with hot tubs I suppose) - not so much the buffet.
  8. I would say not as cut and dried as the questionnaire. If using EZ-Air, I would use it both ways. I would absolutely use EZ-Air for anything international, but for US ports, I would consider airline directly as EZ-Air isn't always a big savings. Depends if I wanted the flexibility to cancel/change flights, or might want to use FF points.
  9. I believe this has been an introductory period where (mostly) Suite guests are invited to experience it. From my readings, the intent is that it will have a hefty cover charge.
  10. I believe the offering of only 2 DR's in DMW App is on purpose and means nothing as to only 2 DR's being open on the ship.
  11. I know it is being called a "fare jump", but it was/is not really that. Something must be wrong in the initial display when it shows the lowest fares for each cabin category and then the correct fares are displayed later. The ultimate fare in CAD is correct when matched to the fare in USD by another way into POLAR system. Of course that doesn't mean that a Panama Canal cruise cannot be perceived as expensive these days.
  12. We don't need a specific arrival time. We can show up anytime and be processed. If you show up for check-in before general boarding has commenced, you will be seated in an area of the terminal set aside according to boarding priorities and given an appropriate boarding group number/letter card. (When PCL first announced the Arrival and Departure Group concept, it was perceived as something that would be tightly enforced. It was actually derived as a Covid-19 response to thin out lines. It quickly became a concern since how would Elites and Suites be guaranteed to get the earliest Arrival Group if desired. Jan Swartz cleared that up very quickly and clarified we could continue to arrive at our leisure and be accommodated in priority processing. It was not very long at all before the Groups meant nothing - similar to the old guideline by decks). Correct. Anyone can show up anytime and be processed through check-in. However, there are designated seating areas and boarding cards given out for the start of general boarding. Once general boarding is opened and the waiting crowd has boarded, later arriving guests simply head onto the ship as they process through check-in. There continues to be priority area for check-in AFAIK and have always experienced this.
  13. That is because you are arriving for check-in after boarding has commenced and did not see the groups waiting to board who came to check-in before general boarding had opened.
  14. We have done this many times when sailing with our friends. Whichever couple does not book the plan pays the other 50% of the cost. Or one buys it on one leg and one on the other if doing a B2B.
  15. Correct numbers for the US market. US market is not eligible for the lower fare offered to CA market. A Canadian resident saves $530 USD on this particular cruise and cabin category.
  16. Hi. I tried this on Princess.com and observed the same thing as you. I used my TA booking engine as I would normally do in order to see the "real" cruise fare in USD (we book in USD anyway). There is a special promotion on for Canada region - the Standard Fare Code for this promo is RLW (RJW for Plus and RKW for Premier). The normal B.S.E. Standard Fare Code, which applies to North America market is NZC. The RLW Fare for a BE is $1,510 USD. Add on $403.93 USD in Port Taxes. The current PCL conversion factor is 1.35 (but for some strange reason, they often play with the result and doesn't convert precisely). The NZC Fare for a BE is $2,040 USD. Add on same Port Taxes. This fare is $530 more than the CA market promo. The RLW Fare of $1,510 USD converts to $2,038.50 CAD. The Port Taxes convert to $545.305 CAD. Therefore, the system is ultimately displaying the correct fare in CAD, based on the USD fare. I am not sure why the system is "advertising" a lower fare and then correcting itself. There was something I read about a CAD at par promotion. Wondering if there is a bug of sorts in displaying cruise fares? Did you try another ship sailing around same date and see if the same thing happens? You could report the anomaly to Princess. I have seen pricing errors before.
  17. Part of the cover for these extra dining experiences (SD, CT, WMD, 360) goes to gratuities. If one wishes to give more at any of them, fine, and if not, fine as well.
  18. Sudden???!!! Where have you been the past 35 - 40 years?
  19. Nothing to see here folks - we already have this. Just check-out the weekly formal nights or clothing thread.
  20. IDK why it was Concerto in Dec. Seems momentary? In Europe, it had been moved to Symphony (Deck 5). I say "had been" because CC Dining always seemed to be Deck 6 pre-Covid and pre-DMW. It really doesn't matter - mid-ship is mid-ship and what's a deck among friends, huh?
  21. So, what's this business about segregating guests on the new Sun based on their clothing when showing up to dine? Does this mean on night one (always smart casual and even less than that in some cases), guests will need to declare what they are going to be wearing on night two in order to direct them to the correct DR level to begin with? I am thinking of those who want to have same table for length of voyage. Are they going to put a small Club Class section on each level in order to cover off that group as no doubt that cross-section of guests will represent a cross-section of dressers (as opposed to a section of cross-dressers)? Having a class system on the cruise ship is not going to be a pleasant thing for PCL I am thinking. Is the top level going to be strictly black tie and dark suits? Is the bottom level strictly shorts and T's (i.e., under today's Smart Casual)? That leaves a whole big middle ground for level 2 of the DR. What happens with the border-line calls? Will they send instant replay to Santa Clarita with a call from the referee there to designate which level for the guest in question?
