  1. I would choose Trip #1 because I absolutely love Madeira. Also, it’s a longer voyage. I’m sure this is no help to you at all. 😂
  2. Phew! I am relieved for you also! Now hang onto those emails. 😂
  3. For me, the value in CO is the dining room on pinnacle class. If that is not important to you (to dine with your companions) or if you’re not on a pinnacle class ship, then it would not be of value to me either.
  4. And if all slots are full would it be worth it?
  5. One time I dreamt that my friend, Wendy, procured $75 worth of gas/petrol for two eggplants and her charming personality. When I woke up we were in Gibraltar where they had seized a $75M super yacht belonging to a Russian oligarch. I’m thinking I must be psychic because Wendy got $75 worth of gas for eggplant and that’s almost the same.
  6. Before. They separate the cruise excursion passengers from the general passengers in different cars. At least, that’s what they have done in the past.
  7. Sounds like a great plan. The taxi line is located in the same tunnel where you will drop your bags off at embarkation. It’s pretty easy to find, with great signage. Have a wonderful time!
  8. Yes, that would work, although it extends throughout the booking to the cruise, the add-ons (excursions, specialty restaurants, etc) and even thru to final billing errors. I have seen a number of posts on CC where new-to-HAL and Princess cruisers got so frustrated with the booking process that they chose another cruise line. I have also seen posts where returning passengers also gave up in frustration. It is definitely impacting revenue for those lines.
  9. Wow. Small world. I grew up in Liverpool (Birkenhead) before moving to Ontario! (I now live in the US.) My Dad worked for Cunard and it was always so exciting to go and meet him at the dock when his ship came in! My aunt and uncle moved from the UK to Ontario then Halifax so we visited them quite often. (They’re now in BC.)
  10. We watched the fireworks in Venice from our ship and had a great view. No crowds and great bar service right to our seats. (Wow. That was so long ago now. 2008)
  11. The “Sitka” scenes were filmed in Rockport, MA. Great movie, BTW. There is the Railroad Dock (1st pic) and the Skagway Station. Passengers who take the cruise excursions (usually) board at the Railroad Dock and the people who purchase directly from White Pass will board at the station. One thing in favour of booking through Cunard (only $20 more than booking individually) is that they’ll get you to the next port if uncontrollable circumstances warrant. Last July, landslides took out a section of the tracks as well as a section of the highway, trapping passengers on the wrong side of the slides with no way to get back to Skagway. Holland America brought in busses to transport the passengers to Haines where they tendered back to the ship at 4:00am the next morning. This pic shows the Railroad Dock and train in between the two rock slides, which happened in 2022. That slide took out the railway terminal. Pic taken from our ship on Broadway Dock. This pic shows last year’s slide over the road.
  12. My worst story about these deals is that I have never received one, even though I’ve probably given them thousands of dimes over the years. 😭 Out of curiousity… do you visit land-based casinos? Just trying to make sense out of how one receives offers without gambling. It boggles my mind! 😂
  13. Definitely the 3:00pm is doable, then. I wouldn’t book anything sooner, unless you have Global Entry. That gives you a nice cushion to disembark, get to the airport, check your bags, get through Security, get through US CBP pre-clearance, then get to your gate. Depending on how many ships are in port, all the above can take quite a while. Have a lovely trip!
  14. I think the difference is that Alaska has lovely scenery and wildlife viewing so it stands to reason that most people will be out on deck. When you’re out at sea with nothing to see but, well, sea, you’re going to find a lot more people spending time indoors. The Westerdam has a lovely prom which is much nicer than Koningsdam’s, that’s for sure.
  15. I do not disagree with you that washing hands regularly is a basic no-brainer. We are all aware (well, those of us who care) that we need to be extra vigilant due to those who are not. It is unfortunate, but that’s how it is. People be people, darn it!
  16. What are your cruiseline passport validity requirements? They’re the ones who will allow you to board (or deny) based on their rules. Have read a number of threads where passengers are being denied due to new rules.
  17. From the UK-ETA FAQ:
  18. What country are you flying to?
  19. I enjoyed your review. (Okay, maybe not the really small font.) For what it’s worth, not everyone entering the Lido Market is looking to eat. It just happens to be the easiest way to get to other areas of the ship. (Seaview Bar and Pool, Dive Inn, Gelato, Lido Pool, Spa, Movie, their friends or relatives…) That does not make them “slobs” or “untrustworthy”.
  20. Never trust AI. Read current “live” reviews and ask pointed, or even generic, questions. (You’ve done well, so far.)
  21. Oh! Thank you! And now it’s funny. 😂 (In my defense, it took me a number of days to get back to where I left off on this thread so it was long forgotten!)
  22. Are you still at the terminal? 🤣 😛 My husband had the same “lifetime full replacement warranty” issue with two (2!!) of his Tumi bags. He replaced the first one with another Tumi using the not-a-lifetime warranty as he was still flying multiple times per week. By the 2nd bag, he had them make a repair and never bought another. I’m still trying to figure out who The Howards are. 🤔
  23. Oh. And here I had Ozzie Ozzie Ozzie Oi Oi Oi in my head and thought “Of course!” I mean, it says it three times! Oh well.
  24. Maybe they don’t know what “at par” means. 😂
