  1. There are several companies listed in this thread. 300-400Euros. Use the SEARCH feature above to find similar threads. Search on 'trieste' and limit the search to 'this forum'. Disembarkation in Trieste - transportation to Venice hotel - Italy Ports - Cruise Critic Community am
  2. Are you doing NCL excursions at each port? and NCL shuttles to get from the port to town?
  3. If you want feedback on these excursions you should include a link to the description of each tour. And if it's a cruiseline excursion, cross post to your cruiseline's forum to increase the number of responses.
  4. but that's part of the problem.... NCL doesn't offer a shuttle to Venice, so pax must take the NCL shuttle to the airport then a 20 minute bus or taxi back to Venice.
  5. Yes, it would be more simple, but it is what it is. It would also be more simple if they offered a transfer to Venice (Tronchetto) like other cruiselines do. Just go to the VCE web site and find a flight that works with your desired shuttle time. This is from my cruise last Oct. People who had flights before 1pm could board shuttles starting at 7am. I took the train to Trieste and used FlixBus on the return, 15E. (Flixbus drops off at VCE or Venice Tronchetto). The downfall to the train and bus is that the depot is a 15 minute walk from the pier.
  6. The VeniceForVisitors is a great resource. They are the folks who made the video. Venice, Italy Travel Guide | Venice for Visitors (europeforvisitors.com)
  7. I'm surprised people would say the bridge to Papadopoli was tough. My mother walked back and forth over that bridge several times and she was 80. We travel light though; just one 21" case. Here's video for the walk, including the bridge: Walking to Hotel Papadopoli Venezia - YouTube How about the new Marriott; right on the square so no bridges? As for your question "where you need to go to get on that taxi ?" If you're talking about the hotel shuttle it appears to travel between the hotel and Zattere or hotel and St Marks. There's detailed info and a map on their web site. Hotel Location | Hilton Molino Stucky Venice
  8. If you only have one night in Venice, you may want to reconsider staying at the Hilton. Too much time will be spent driving and transferring. The Piazzale Roma area would be more convenient. It's the last point of land travel in Venice so it's where taxis, buses and cars drop off their passengers. Easy access to airport transportation and a block from the Grand Canal for sightseeing. 'How Many Bridges?' hotel listings for Piazzale Roma | Venice for Visitors (europeforvisitors.com)
  9. Information on how to reach the water taxi and Alilaguna piers at the airport. They're next to each other and about a 7-8 minute walk. How to reach the Alilaguna waterbus and water-taxi piers at Venice Marco Polo Airport | Venice for Visitors (europeforvisitors.com)
  10. I was on NCL Gem last Sept and the shuttles were only to the airport. I was hoping they had added a Venice shuttle. You may want to call and verify. The airport is about 10 miles from Venice so t's not horrific if that's where you have to go, but it's another stop and another transfer; a pain if you have too much luggage. Megr's suggestion of a water taxi might be the best option to reach the hotel from the airport. It will be pricey though, about 150E for the 30 minute ride. You don't need to make a reservation but here is the info: Booking Water Taxi in Venice is Now Easy - Consorzio Motoscafi Venezia A cheaper option would be the Aliluguna water bus. The blue line goes to the Hilton. It costs only 15E but takes 1 1/2 hrs. Blue Line | Alilaguna
  11. Venice is 2hrs from Trieste, by car, bus or train.. The easiest option to Venice will be the NCL shuttle, $65 pp. However NCL might only run their shuttle to the airport, not to Venice itself (which is usually Tronchetto). So verify that information. Otherwise you can take the train from Trieste Centrale to Venice S Lucia station, or take FlixBus to Tronchetto. Each of these options will cost about 15E. Be aware that the Trieste train station and bus station are on the same block but are a 15 minute walk from the pier. It's a flat easy walk on a nice day;not so nice when it's raining and you wait an hr for a cab, There is info on transportation to your hotel from points in Venice at the end of the attached article: Directions to the Molino Stucky Hilton | Venice for Visitors (europeforvisitors.com)
  12. You might want to google for port information to find out how many ships are arriving that day.
  13. I think the tender ticket process varies by cruiseline and maybe even by ship. On NCL Gem last Sept, tender tickets were made available the day PRIOR to arriving in Santorini. They said it would start at 8am but when we got there at 7 there were already 20 or so people in line. And yes there are quite a few cafes, bars, restaurants at the dock.
  14. be sure to have some coins; most public bathrooms require a euro coin.
  15. Sounds like Sandras is a middleman, like Viator . Viatour doesn't conduct any tours but sells tours provided by other vendors. It will be interesting to see which local company Sandras uses in Santorini since you never see a local vendor advertising this option. Perhaps someone finally organized the boats that provide the one-way trip from the dock to Amoudi for 30E. I always thought it was odd they didn't capitalize on the return trip. But this is a great option and desperately needed.
  16. The bus dropped us just before a traffic light, next to Universitad Parc. (not really a park, but a large cemented area with trees). When we disembarked, we walked about 20 ft to the light and turned right onto the crosswalk. This took us past the 'park', and while still on that crosswalk we crossed another street. At the end of the crosswalk you don't quite meet up with the intersection so turn left for about 20ft and then you'll come to your street, Carrer de Pelai. Turn right and walk about a block, past an alley and a bakery. The hotel is on your right, It's really quite easy when you're there! My cousin reminded me that she arrived at 10pm and found her way in the dark. She thought it took 5 minutes.
  17. Which cruiseline? you might ask this question on your cruiseline's forum. i recall a trip report from earlier in the summer, where NCL's intention was to dock close to Venice. The tendering process was a huge fail, so for subsequent sailings the ship overnighted in Trieste and pax were bussed to Venice.
  18. Most definitely we disembarked at the University stop. The hotel was barely 2 blocks away. Enjoy your stay ... I'm jealous
  19. There are several books specific to Med cruises that will be very helpful in your planning .... Rick Steves, Lonely Planet, Ann Vipond are a few. These books provide info on history, culture, popular sights, how to get around, tours, vendors, DIY, etc. Borrow from your library or buy. YouTube is a great resource too. You can search by port or by cruiseline. ie search "Mykonos cruise port", or " NCL Gem Mediterranean". LIVE cruise reports can be helpful but often they're bogged down with a lot of nonsense. If you bypaass the first 20 pages of them packing and skip to the day when they actually board the ship, you can find some good tips on vendors and DIY . There are some good port guides online, such as this one, All Cruise Port Guides and Reviews by IQCruising (2023), but they're not always current with the info. Have fun with your planning and research !
  20. That kinda happened by default the first week in August. I read this in an NCL trip report ....by 2pm there was such a bottleneck that tenders were stopped for an hour. When the hour was up, it was still a mess, so the tenders were cancelled and no one else left the ship. Yikes
  21. Oh geez. It's past my bed time. Thx for correcting me! There is no storage at Lisbon cruise pier according to their web site. Faq Detail | Facilities at the Port | Lisbon (lisboncruiseport.pt) There IS storage at the airport. But google ' Left Luggage Lisbon' to see what else is available and which would be the most convenient location.
  22. there is no luggage storage at the airport or the cruise terminal. You will probably be touring near the Placa Catalunya at the top of Las Ramblas, and there is/was a Left Luggage facility there. Google ' Left Luggage Barcelona ' to find their locations.
  23. This is a view as we left Positano. Zoom in to see the details along the coast and up the mountains.
  24. The views from the ferry really were spectacular ,,,,, as you leave Positano you're looking at the beach and the town and then all of a sudden you're drawn to all the homes further up in the mountains. Quite stunning. If you enjoy the sea, I believe you can do the Amalfi Coast via ferry from Naples. Skip a tour entirely. Perhaps cruisemom or euro cruiser can provide that info. Ravello is a bit in-land, so you would need a car, taxi, bus for that portion. I used Aldo Limo. They were good to work with as we sorted out the itinerary, and the driver was good about knowing photo ops and local info, and was always willing to stop. I knew ahead of time that drivers might take you to restaurants, shops or factories where they get a cut, so I shouldn't have agreed to the lunch idea. I still hold it against the driver though !
