  1. Southampton; Photographs include the historical wall, as well as an area where soldiers waiting to depart for the Normandy Landings scratch their names and messages.
  2. There was an excellent shopping mall near the Moxy in Southampton. Many places to eat. While there we had Thai, Italian, and Greek. Also talk a walking tour of the city, a great deal of history there. We had a “Meet and Greet” at the Red Lion Inn in Southampton. Had a pint of Cider. While we didn’t ear there, many from the group did. Portions were huge and they said food was excellent.
  3. We decided to carry our luggage off with us. We started to depart the cruise ship at 8:00 AM. Had some wait at immigration, but from there took a taxi to Ft. Lauderdale Airport where we rented a car for our ride home. Out of National by 9:30 AM. Had lunch at Cooper Hawk in Coconut Creek with our son which we thoroughly enjoyed.
  4. My wife and I recently completed a Transatlantic on Regal Princess. This was our second Transatlantic, our first, interestingly was also on Regal Princess. Some thoughts: Overall, we would rate the trip and the cruise ship a solid 4 1/2/out of 5. We have noticed some post Covid Changes. The size of the portions of food were smaller, and the menu in the MDR was also somewhat limited. But overall the quality of food in the MDR was excellent. Service was fantastic (by the way, our waitress did give me a 2nd lobster tail without the usual surcharge….please don’t tell Princess.😂) We were planning to dine a night at the steakhouse, but we had such a great time in the MDR, we cancelled our reservation (we did eat twice at Alfredo’s) Horizon and Horizon Bistro was outstanding (5/5) with a multiple of choices. Plenty of tables available with only limited table hogging. Each night was a different theme in Horizon Court. There was a separate pastry section, where gourmet coffee and espresso were made. At the pool area was a customary pizza and hamburgers. One would go, order the hamburger and go back to the table, and we would be notified when food was ready. In addition to hamburgers one could also get frankfurters and chicken. The small bistro at the International Cafe in the Atrium was open 24/7, and one could get coffee, espresso, teas, and a host of small pastries as well as items such as sandwiches there. Many individuals enjoyed a “Continental Breakfast” at the I.C. By the way, the medallion service did work with drinks being brought to you after you ordered them via I-Phone. We did notice some rust areas on the balcony, and some of the lighting on the walkways on deck 16 were out, needed repairs. But overall the ship was in great shape. Entertainment was fantastic. We did have three true production shows. One had to get to the theatre early to make sure one could find a seat on these nights. Some seats were reserved for those who booked the more expensive Princess Plus Plan (I believe that they called it Princess Prime) but all in all that was not a problem. There were several “shows” or music in the Atrium include two fantastic ladies playing piano and violin. I wanted to take them back to Orlando to play at our Dr. Phillips Center, but they told me they were under contract 😂 Fellow passengers were great. We did meet a lot of interesting people. Many people used motorized chairs to get around, no problem. We were disappointed in the Princess Tours. We did feel that the quality of the tour guides has declined. But overall thought our trip to the Normandy Beaches was fantastic. Enjoyed our walking tour of Lisbon. Boarding was a “breeze”. Boarded the ship within 15 minutes after we arrived. Our Cabin (which by the way was serviced twice/day) was available. We did have a mini-suite and we’re Club Reserve (which we would highly recommend) Before the cruise, we stayed for several days in Southampton at the Moxy. Highly recommend staying there for several days, and indeed liked the hotel. We had several “rough” days at sea after leaving France. But the last several days before arriving at Ft. Lauderdale, we had warm weather and calm seas. We often sat at the adult sanctuary section, or on windy days, in the back of the ship on deck 14. The staff was a solid 5/5. Captain was outstanding. All in all we had an excellent time. Well worth the money. By the way, next cruise (we like to try different cruise lines) will be on Holland America next year. Our previous cruise was on Celebrity.
  5. We recently completed a Trans-Atlantic on Regal Princess. Yes the ship was full, but one should note that there were very few children. I assume that there were two passengers/cabin. No significant problem with lines or crowding, except for production shows in the theatre.
  6. We booked both Club Orange as well as a higher tier Vista Suite. We were told that in this case, Holland America would add some additional perks (credits?) to our cruise. We will be cruising on the Nieuw Statendam next October. Can’t wait to see hot is compared to Club Reserve on Princess.
  7. We usually cruise on Princess, and our first choice would be a Club Class Mini suite. However, we have liked the itinerary on Holland America’s Nieuw Statendam, and we have booked a Vista Class Suite. Does anybody have any opinions on how these cabins compare..

  9. Crown is one of two ships that is powered by a jet turbine, not by diesel into electric. Because of this the engine room is smaller and it is in the top five if not the top in respect to Space per passenger. We sailed through the Panama Canal twice on this ship, separated by over 15 years. It is smaller than most of the other Princess ships, and we did feel it was more “intimate” Unlike its sister ship, Island Princess, Princess did not add more cabins to the ship.
  10. That is what I always thought and believed. I was puzzled that Princess sent me that notification, they clearly have all my information including U.S. Passport on file. When I called Princess they told me to call CIBTVISAS which is a private Visa Company.
  11. Princess was giving the message that one would need a Visa to enter the United States.
  12. UNITED STATES VISA/ESTA REMINDER As a reminder, A United States visa is required for certain nationalities. If you are an eligible passport holder from a Visa Waiver Program (VWP) country, you will be able to enter/exit the U.S. without a visa provided you are in possession of a biometric passport AND pre-register online for the VWP through the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA). ESTA applications may be made online at: https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/ and, if required, must be completed at least 72 hours before you board your cruise. We ask that you bring a printout of your approved application, or a digital copy including the ESTA number to cruise check-in to speed immigration processing. Please note that if you have traveled to Cuba since January 2021, you will require a full visa and will not qualify for an ESTA. Guests must provide the required documentation prior to embarkation, and those who do not present ESTA or the necessary visas may be denied boarding.
  13. My wife and I are scheduled to sail on Regal Princess, October 9, 2023. Trans-Atlantic from Southampton to Fort Lauderdale. We are American Citizens and hold valid U.S. Passports. We just received an E-Mail from Princess about “Visa Requirements” As I noted, we are American Citizens and are traveling from the United States, specifically Orlando, Florida. Do we need a visa? Does this apply to us. Thanks for the help.
  14. One of my most favorite ships from Princess.
  15. I do remember that when we first began to cruise on Royal Caribbean I wore a jacket and tie most evenings to the dining room and a tuxedo on formal nights. But that was a time when you had assigned seating and very elegant dining. Each night we would also have a midnight buffet.
  16. Will be on Regal Princess next week. I have taken a sports jacket which I will wear with dress pants, dress shirt and tie. Other nights will be more casual. Hope that helps.
  17. What I was trying to say that if you had selected a guaranteed room in the upgrade category at the time you did the booking, would it have been a significantly higher price than initially booking a lesser category and then entering the bidding process. In one case you know at the start of your booking that you will get a room in either that category or at a higher level. In the other, there may be savings, but one may not know until the last minute if they will get an upgrade. Just wondering.
  18. I do wonder how much is served with the bidding system, as compared to asking for a guaranteed cabin in the class that you are bidding for at the time one initiates the booking.
  19. Actually as an individual who likes a double espresso after fine dining, I still like a good old fashioned cup of coffee brewed in a drip coffee maker with pure water and a good type of coffee bean. A Krispi Kreme Donut on the side is a great addition.
  20. I believe that I.C. is also using Lavazza, is make sense that they would not have two coffee name coffee brands on the same ship or cruise line.
  21. We just received our Princess Medallions. We are sailing Regal Princess...Southampton October 9th, 2023. Can you activate them at home, or do they do this for your when you check in at the ship for boarding?
  22. We are sailing Regal Princess, October 9, 2023, on a 15 day Trans-Atlantic. Does anybody know when the formal nights will be on this cruise. My wife and I are interested in booking dinner at the Crown Grill, and we do not wish our reservation to coincide with one of the formal nights.
  23. We recently received notice that our "Medallions" for our upcoming cruise on Regal Princess are "on-the-way." Looking at tracking, it appears that they will be delivered by USPS, shipper Ding Hong. We were wondering if they did not originate in China and are of Chinese Manufacture. Does anybody know where these Princess devices are made?
  24. Only class M1 Mini-Suite has club or reserve class.
  25. We rarely asked for the same staff. We discovered that in Club Class, all the staff gave excellent service.
