  1. I like Hampton Inn in Cocoa Beach because I like being close to the beach. It makes me feel like i’m really on vacation. It has a pool, WiFi and free breakfast. I’ve stayed there twice and would do so again in a heartbeat.
  2. It is also President’s Day weekend. I booked the Saturday of that weekend for $233 at the Riverside Hotel in Las Olas. It’s been a while though. I don’t know if that price is still available.
  3. I didn’t find it cumbersome to stop for the tolls. I think there were 2 or 3 stops. By having exact change, I was the only car in the lane each time. Maybe other people didn’t know about that option that day. I used the toll calculator just now to find that the cost is $5 total if paying cash, so it is much cheaper than the transponder with the convenience fee. It’s probably a personal preference: convenience vs cost. I don’t like getting charges from a car rental company after I get home. Maybe that’s just me. As as far as “beachy” places, you are heading inland as you go towards MCO, so I think you would need to go to the beach near the port or head to Cocoa Beach. Don’t know about restaurants. Maybe someone else can chime in with that.
  4. I’ve used Avis. Not the closest, but I would definitely use them again. Yes, it is a toll road to Orlando. Make sure you don’t bypass the toll booths. It almost looks like you’re exiting the toll road to pass through the toll booths, but you’re not. (Those with electronic passes go through as through traffic.) Also, they have a lane for exact change, which gets you through a bit faster. I have rented a car and gone to Disney once after a cruise and taken a ship’s excursion to Kennedy Space Center with airport drop off once after a cruise. Both were fun options. Hope you have a great time!
  5. The bungalows are at Columbus Cove. I don’t know about the cabanas because they were out of my price range. You might be able to read the descriptions on the cruise planner to understand the differences.
  6. Has anyone done the tour that includes the cable car? That’s the one that interests me. Thanks in advance for your feedback!
  7. The bungalows have a max of 8 people. I got lucky with my group of 10 arriving in 2 groups, with 2 different people checking us in. The first attendant seemed like he was going to be strict regarding the limit and my husband and I were prepared to sit out. But before I knew what was happening, the rest of the 10 were let in by the other attendant. To answer your questions from the other post: yes, we all had wristbands, and, you reserve the bungalows on the cruise planner. There are only eight of them and they sold out quickly, but I kept watching and someone must have canceled, because I was eventually able to book one. I think the only way to guarantee 10 people getting in is to book 2 bungalows. We shared the 2 float mats. It worked out okay.

  9. Don’t forget that if your ship leaves at 3, you have to be on board by 2:30. Sounds a little tight to me, but maybe that’s just me. I’m the one at the airport 2 hours early always. Lol!
  10. Yes, at Columbus Cove, they are called bungalows. We rented one in February. They come with bottled water, 2 float mats and attendants to bring drinks (charged to your sea pass unless you have a package). They are close to one of the buffet stations. There are only 8 of them, so perhaps they are sold out. You can keep watching your cruise planner and see if any become available. We had a wonderful time relaxing with our family there.
  11. We like Columbus Cove. It is beautiful and not rocky.
  12. I had the same red notice on my reservations for August and September. I called to ask the same questions you had. I found out I was not affected by the MAX 8 issue. The agent informed me that Southwest was giving EVERYONE with reservations made prior to a certain date a chance to change their flights for free. It is a goodwill gesture. I wish they would have explained it better on their website. It caused me a few anxious moments and time making a call that was unnecessary. I’m probably not going to change my flights, btw. Lol!
  13. The other noise factor with the drawbridge is the loud road noise that tires make crossing the top part of the bridge. We spent an entire evening sitting outside watching the boats in the intercoastal waterway and every vehicle that crossed the bridge made that noise. I think that would have bothered me in a room on that side of the hotel. Just my thoughts, being a very light sleeper. 😊
  14. I’ve stayed there three times. I think it’s a good choice. On the advice of CC members, I always get a city view room. There is a drawbridge on the intercostal waterway side that some said kept them awake at night. I’m a light sleeper, so that wouldn’t work for me. It’s a short walk to the beach and the grocery store, where we bought wine and soda to take on board. There are only a few options for breakfast: the hotel (pricey), and across the street, a bakery cafe and a Starbucks. I would definitely stay there again.
