Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. We just arrived in Naze mid-morning today and we’re waiting for the skies to clear a bit more before venturing out. Explore is only the first or second ship to visit each port in over 3 years, so the excursions team is really scrambling to make things work for everyone. That’s why you’re having a problem. Regent had to cancel some excursions in Naze, including ours, but they will have 2 different shuttle routes to compensate. There is just a lack of English speaking tour guides and some of the Japanese tour operators have been unable to provide full capacity. The really nice thing is that we have been the only ship in each port which is wonderful. People have been so happy to see tourists back. And the ship is beautiful with truly outstanding service. I’m really happy Regent made the decision to go ahead with this cruise despite some local challenges. We’re planning to take the shuttle to Ohama beach later. I believe there’s a turtle and cultural museum there.
  2. We are doing the post-cruise extension. For those curious about the overnight before embarking - we stayed at the Keio Plaza. It’s a large, modern hotel not far from the Hilton. Comfortable, clean, and lovely. Breakfast was excellent. Regent had everything very well organized.
  3. It was so nice to see the sun yesterday and it was quite warm! Our experience was a little different leaving the ship. We moved quickly thru the passport check. They did compare face to passport and looked at key card. Then we passed two customs agents who were smiling, greeting people, and holding signs that said Plants. Getting back on board, we waved passports and key cards and just kept moving. Weather today looks beautiful again!
  4. Thank you both! I did set my phone to Japan time a little while ago, and we're fine to test. That was an easy solution now that we're close. I've been procrastinating all day, but we're about to test now. Leaving for the airport in a few hours..
  5. Scott, thank you so much for all this valuable information! I’m glad, but not too surprised, that the process went relatively smoothly once you arrived. I’m a little confused about the 70 hour mark. We are scheduled to board at noon on Tuesday. We are doing the post cruise extension and Regent air flights. By my calculations, we still have to wait several hours before testing. We leave for the airport at 6 tonight, so there is a small window for us to test this afternoon. Otherwise we test en route or Monday when we arrive. Then again, my problem solving may be wrong — If a jet traveling 600 MPH leaves NY on Saturday night, changes to Daylight Savings Time a few hours later, makes a 3-hour stop in the Middle East the next day, and arrives in Japan the day before boarding …when is it 72 hours in Tokyo? 😂 It’s all worth it. This trip is going to be fantastic! Enjoy your time in Tokyo and we’ll see you on board.
