  1. Do you know what an accomodation ship is? I have never herd that term. Fascination was my first cruise in October 1995. I met my husband there. We have been married 23 years. Thank you Carnival Fascination!
  2. Semantics, if you're the person not being laid off but also not being offered a new contract. In the end, you're still out of work.
  3. I was just surfing the different web cams hoping to see some ships in port somewhere coming or going after reprovisioning. There are 3 ships in port at St. Maarten right now!
  4. I love any Spirit class ship. They are my favorites in the whole fleet! We have cruised on the Pride and loved it. The Serenity area on these ships is the best. Book your Pride cruise and enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!
  5. It's always a little bit emotional to see these ships go if you have some kind of attachment to them, but life is always evolving and changing in some way. We accept it and move on. The Fascination holds a very special spot in my heart. My first cruise was on the Fascination in 1995 out of San Juan. My dining room waiter was Jose from Costa Rica. He became my husband in 1997 and we have been married 23 years now! So the Fascination played match maker for us and I'll always hold her dearly in my heart!
  6. If so, I am double heartbroken. My husband and I met onboard the Fascination in 1995 and were married in 1997. Before this pandemic hit, we had planned to do another cruise on her to celebrate 25 years together. So sad it will never happen now.
  7. I am heartbroken, and I guess, naive. When I heard the ships had been sold, I had no idea this is what it meant. I assumed it meant they were going to another cruise line to be rebranded and give other cruisers happy times. I am so shocked I don't even know what to say. "This process involves bringing the ship out to sea, putting the engines full throttle ahead, and running the vessel on shore until she stops." Such a sad, brutal concept....
  8. We were on the Horizon for Thanksgiving 2018 and we LOVED the quiet and the privacy of the Havana area during the day and the Havana music at night. We had a Havana Cabana and did not feel that privacy from passing guests was a big issue. There just aren't that many other Havana passengers going back and forth out there. However, a BIG issue for me was the fact that the patio furniture was SO uncomfortable that it was almost unusable. The shaded seating next to the bar in the Havana pool area became the area where we spent all day every day when we weren't in port. To try to
  9. Our favorite cabin on the Spirit class ships is 8237, not so much for the extended balcony, although that is really nice, but for the size of the cabin. Since we do like to spend some time together in our cabin, away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the ship, we really enjoy this cabin. Look up the photos online on one of the sites which show pictures of the various cabins. I think you'll really enjoy it.
  10. Thank you all for your positive responses, encouragement, and suggestions. It took me a long time to get my strength back, and it has only been recently that my dialysis center has suggested that I attend a class about home dialysis, so yes, I will definitely be looking into that. I do so appreciate being able to come here and continue to be part of the cruising community. Thank you all.
  11. 🙁🤕 Right after our Breeze cruise April 27, 2109 - May 4, 2019, while we were spending the following week in a condo in Cape Canaveral, I became extremely ill. I was diagnosed with acute renal failure, which has since been changed to end stage kidney disease, and now, in order to stay alive, I have to have hemodialysis 3 times a week. So no more cruises for me, at least not on Carnival. Dialysis at Sea has several cruises a year Royal Caribbean and Celebrity, but they're quite expensive and my insurance doesn't pay for the dialysis onboard the ship, so our vacation dollars will b
  12. I personally have had to use my travel insurance twice for medical reasons, once for a life flight from Grand Turk to Fort Lauderdale, as well as the hospital costs in Grand Turk, and once for medical transfer from Cape Canaveral Hospital to a rehabilitation center here in Arizona, I NEVER travel without travel insurance!
