  1. Thanks for all the feedback everyone. I'm just going to use the OBC for the gratuity and book my excursions now. (Unless someone here says I should pre-pay gratuity 🙂) Thanks for explaining how it works.
  2. Thanks. This schedule looks like they take your flight arrangements into consideration. I feel better and will come check once we get in board.
  3. Per my itinerary: The shipboard credit amount is per stateroom and may be used during the cruise for shore excursions, spa treatments, specialty dining, beverages and more. Shipboard credit offered by Costco Travel is not available to view prior to travel on the cruise line’s website, or during your online check in. You will receive the shipboard credit in your personal onboard account by the second night of sailing. The value of the shipboard credit is determined by the base cruise fare for the stateroom category booked. Offer is nontransferable. I may very well just use it for gratuity and book my excursions now.
  4. This is the exact description of the credit for my TA. I think if I pre-book now, I pay out of pocket now as opposed to going in my shipboard account. So maybe the "day 2" part is irrelevant other than it doesn't apply to stuff I pre-book now. 5. Good suggestions. I went back to the original info and it says: The shipboard credit amount is per stateroom and may be used during the cruise for shore excursions, spa treatments, specialty dining, beverages and more. Shipboard credit offered by xxx is not available to view prior to travel on the cruise line’s website, or during your online check in. Would it be princess that can confirm the "and more" part, for example, could it be used for gratuity?
  6. I booked my Alaska trip out of Seattle on the Ruby Princess just a month or so ago and it came with a a few hundred dollars in onboard credits for excursions and specialty dining. However, I'm not able to able to access the credit until "Day 2." Anyone have a similar experience and can tell me if not booking a specialty dining place or excursion until day 2 (in order to use the credits) will mean my choices are limited? Thanks.
  7. Hi. I have a return flight out of at 11:30am Seattle time on the day we arrive back. I booked this based on the 7am return time I have consistently seen. Should I start worrying that I could miss my flight? How do I ensure a disembarkation on the early side? Thanks.
  8. Thank you for sharing so much great info. May I ask what time you arrived at the pier and about how long check in took and what time you actually got on the ship? Thank you!
  9. Let me preface that we just booked our Alaska cruise in early August about two weeks ago so it was definitely a spontaneous decision and as such, I’m very behind in educating/preparing myself on it. So please forgive the very elementary questions.... Pools. Is the weather such that you should not expect to use the pools in early August on an Alaskan cruise? I just saw some pics from a June cruise and people are in street clothes with their feet in the pool but no one is actually in it. What range of clothing should we be packing? The temps seem like fall temps (I’m from NC) so does that mean long pants and flexible tops that range from short sleeve to sweatshirt? Do I need a winter coat for off boat visits. thanks in advance for your feedback.
  10. ^^^^. 😂😂😂 I paid for expedited service so I should get them. This was a last minute trip and our passports had expired. But we have gotten mixed messages about whether passports are needed for Canada or not. When we went by car a couple of years ago, we did not. And I read on a valid site that you only need a passport if entering by air. But Princess says we need a passport. Anywho, we should get it in time and if we don’t really need it, I’ll be sure to plan an international trip to get my moneys worth. LOL.
  11. I’m on the Ruby Princess to Alaska in August and not able to complete the check-in process online because I don’t have my passport info yet. Some family members are waiting for the renewal so we don’t know the dates to input and one other child is waiting to receive a newly issued one. Does it matter that I can’t complete check-in yet? Should I just enter alternative drivers license info in order to finish it? thanks!
  12. Thanks. Can you share how you would do this, say, iPhone to iPhone?
  13. I don’t think you can do this. If “tethering” implies hotspot, it is my understanding that hotspots are through cellular data, not wifi. So you can’t purchase wifi for one device and then try to make it a hotspot.
