Just wondering if anybody has been on the pre cruise ( 3 day) in Barcelona prior to sailing. If so what was your impression of the tour and value for the $$$? Right now I do not know the cost but wanted some feedback to help with the decision. We have only spent a half day in Barcelona and I know there is a lot to see and do. I am not sure if we are up to planning and doing it on our own being up in years. Thanks for your suggestions!

Hi Flossie, Yes, I did ask Regent and the answer was they don't know yet which hotel they will be using and won't know for quite a few months prior to the cruise. Yes, we just might take the credit and do what you suggested. I am not sure how to find out what that amount would be. Any suggestions?

Hopefully, it will be a direct flight for us. We have been to Rome and Barcelona before. We might go into Barcelona a couple of days before the cruise. Maybe we will meet on board.

red1head, I am hoping that it will be NH Collection Barcelona Gran Hotel Calderon and not Hotel Sofia. Hotel Sofia was nice enough but too far out. We would love to be close to Las Ramblas and the Gothic quarter. Thank you

Since Delta has a non stop from Atlanta to Tokyo why is there this huge up charge? We will be flying from Atlanta to Barcelona and Rome to Atlanta in April. I will be very unhappy with any up charge since one of the many reasons we picked this itinerary was assuming non stop flights.

How does it work if you take the one night hotel credit prior to the cruise and instead book a different hotel ( adding on a couple of extra days)? Will you need to get your own transfers to that hotel from the airport and from the hotel to the ship. I would imagine that is how it works.

Hi Loriva, Wow, thank you so much for taking the time to go into all the details of your British Isles cruise. Honestly, now we are wondering if this cruise is really for us. We were on the Splendor in May from Barcelona to London and the bus rides were really starting to get old. I hope I won't get booted off this forum but another option we were considering was river cruise in Europe ( have done two Danube and Rhine). Since it was a while ago I forget if there were a few ports where we could just walk off the ship. Decisions, decisions and yes a real first world problem :).

We will be reserving our excursions for a British Isles cruise in a couple of days. The excursion that we would like to do in Belfast is the Titanic Trail. It is described as a strenuous activity. We are in our late 70s without any disabilities. Can someone who has done this excursion recently give us some idea of what might be entailed to be labeled strenuous activity ( lots of stairs, uphill climbs etc). Thank you

Looking for some help on choosing excursions for BI cruise next year. To anybody who has taken this cruise( London to London) were there any particular excursions that you would highly recommend. The ports are ( Newcastle, Edinburgh, Ivergordon, Kirkwall, Stornoway, Dun Laoghaire Ireland, Belfast, Isle Of Man, Ringaskiddy and Portland. No are not fond of long bus rides unless the excursion is really outstanding. We need to reserve this weekend and hoping for some advice. Thanks so much!

Any feedback on the tendered trips in the British Isles. Four ports on a British Isles cruise we are looking at early June,2024 are tendered ( Edinburgh, Ivergordon, Hebrides and Dublin). Are we looking at a potential for really rough seas and how long are the tendered trips?

Just out of curiosity where you able to get right off the ship and walk to a town or point of interest. We are hoping to avoid bus rides.

jhenry1, I see your name often on Regent CC. We have taken three Regent cruises ( just finished up Barcelona to London on the superb Splendor ) and are also looking into this cruise line. I have to agree with BaumD that Regent and American cruise lines are probably apples and oranges although I have never been on ACL. You forgot to include that Regent also gives you ( free or included ) laundry service. I guess it's the old story of you get what you pay for.

Just wondering how you enjoyed that itinerary in the fall. We are looking at the Grandeur for that trip. Can you share the dates you took the cruise and how was the foliage?

I am correct in that flights from the states for an Alaskan cruise are not business class?

We just completed our third Regent cruise ( one in the Caribbean and two in Europe). There are many things we love about cruising particularly just unpacking once and many things we love about Regent such as the cabin size, included laundry and business airfare. However, what we do not care for are the excursions that necessitate long bus rides. Just wondering if anyone has been on an itinerary that offered a selection of excursions without long bus rides ( long being an hour and longer).

We will be staying at the Landmark also. The last time we were in London was about 21 years ago when my daughter got married ( to a Brit). Prior to that we were there in the '90s . We love London and have been to Westminster and the Tower of London. Touring Buckingham Palace sounds great. We will definitely look into that if it is available when we are there. Pappy, our Med cruise ends in London ( Southampton) with a one night included hotel also. Just curious if you might know what is relatively close by to do on that one day. Our ship docks very early so with a whole day in front of us, it would be nice to have a plan. I would imagine that Regent uses the same hotel for their guests.
