  1. I was on the reverse itinerary right after yours but we didn’t get Sydney so love to see pics esp from there.
  2. Googling about air on airplanes, On most aircraft, air is also circulated through hospital-grade HEPA filters, which remove 99.97 percent of bacteria, as well as the airborne particles that viruses use for transport The vent above your airplane seat may help you avoid contact with microorganisms that can get you sick as it can create an invisible air barrier around you. This air barrier can stop airborne viruses from lingering in the air around you
  3. From Punta Langosta should we take a cab or walk?
  4. I see other posts saying "RCL docks at TMMI" but Empress is such a small ship I guess it's an exception.
  5. Found a schedule that shows Empress is docking at Punta Langosta in Feb 6 - is that unusual? we will be there Mar 13. https://cozumelinsider.com/Cruiseships
  6. How does one get the promotion? We are going there in a month.
  7. We get back to Miami on a Sunday and our flight out is Monday 7 am. What is our best option to stay for the night if we want to spend a day around Miami? Hotel near the airport? Air BNB downtown? worried about where to stash the luggage and budget around $200. thanks
  8. That meant they did not have to pay a single cent for them and the collection is huge. Probably could not do pitch change then. (I need this feature as my range is limited)
  9. I used to sing karaoke (on land) and recently sang the first time on a cruise. There were a few things that surprised me and I'd like to share them. On the Adventure of the Seas, the adult karaoke was held 10 pm every night in the lounge that was a bit out of the way, so they were not well attended. Some nights there were less than 10 people total there, and the final had maybe 50 people in the audience. The 10-night cruise had 3 nights of qualifying rounds, I think at the end of those nights they announce who made it into the final. Surprise #1 The song books were printed
  10. Note the wait staff would come and sing for you, in Adventure they even clapped the menus together, to emulate fireworks I guess, which made me glad I did NOT request anything for my birthday since I'm not into that kind of thing.
  11. Recently on Adventure they had a Chocolate Buffet Theme night in the WJ during dinner, which was a big selection of cakes and individual desserts, (not all of them chocolate), and you had to ask the servers for them. Left overs were served at lunch the next day
  12. Would like to point out the "Tropical Green Tea" seen in this picture. It's got some herbs like lemon grass IIRC, and lighter than the "Sencha Green Tea". On Adventure not all the selections are available at one spot, they are different between the venues.
  13. My recent experiences on Adventure: French onion soup - soup is fine but virtually no onion pieces Crab cake - made with fake Crab so might as well call it fish cake Soufflé - I remember a time when it was served piping hot and the crust rising inches above the rim of the ramekin; now it's lukewarm, flat and dense, more like a pudding. Here is my write up of some of the vegan menu items
  14. Just back from Adventure, and the only place where I notice some issues were in our cabin bathroom. Inside the sink cabinet, where the walls meet, there are stains, which look like they might have been mold at some point. And under the sink and right by the wall the grout is sparkling clean, but in the high traffic areas the grout is grungy (I have to battle the same thing at home). I was on Grandeur and felt bored on that ship, and luckily did not have an issue here, although not as much to do as on Oasis and Allure.
  15. I may get around to writing something for the review section. Our cruise is mostly seniors. Maybe a newly-wed couple or two, a handful of teens with family and no screaming kids anywhere. All the others look like they are retired or close to retiring! Shows were not well attended at all.
  16. I think they are convinced they are smarter than the rules. "What, me lose my footing? please..."
  17. Our docs also said 1pm.We arrived about 10:15am at Bayonne and they announced that boarding will start at 10:30. The suites got to sit in the waiting area closest to the boarding entrance and so were the first to board.
  18. From what I've read on here it may not be the same experience on all ships yet.
  19. I'm back from my cruise on Adventure and just wanted to add to this. Was at Karaoke and the audience (only around a dozen the first few nights) were very supportive, whooping even for the one-note singers!
  20. Just returned from a 10 day AdOTS cruise, and was delighted to find a full vegan menu every day. (I prefer vegetarian meals but find the regular veg fare too heavy in carbs and dairy.) I had it 5 days out of 10. There are seven menus which cycle back to the first if more than 7 days. The menu pictures are from the Royal app. The menus were not provided in the dining room unless you ask for them. The first day I ordered it, all courses at our table took a long time to come. The head waiter brought the dessert and I asked was it slow because of the vegan menu. He said yes, it's
  21. What we did last time was we rented a car from Saint John and made our own way to Halifax to catch the ship next day, so we can see things along the way at leisure, including Peggy's Cove. Stayed one night in a motel in Truro NS. We're Canadian so there were no issues and we were cleared by the ship.
  22. I read there are free shuttle buses on Bar Harbor with different routes, are they good? which is best? http://exploreacadia.com/
  23. Thanks for the review; I’m going in 4 weeks and think I’ll do the martini class!
  24. I remember that lounge from years ago. What has taken its place?
