  1. Thank you to everyone who replied - even those of you who steered us a bit off topic! We've been to Alaska twice already so pretty comfortable booking via NCL or directly. I think I will wait until the New Year and see how things look because I cannot believe people are rushing to give cruise lines money at this time!! Also agree that paying so far in advance is a bit naughty and having the excursions added to your on-board account or at least payment 8 weeks out (or similar) would be fairer. I bet the suppliers dont see a penny until after the excursion has happened!
  2. NCL has steadily been adding excursions to its Explore and Plan section for Alaskan cruises next year - there are now 96 showing for our booked cruise in July. What are people's views about booking these at the moment? Has anyone else already booked or is it prudent to wait a while and see how the Alaskan cruise season looks for 2021. I always think NCL are a bit cheeky taking payment for these when you book because of course in these troubled times they have your money - and we all know how hard its been to get refunds. Thoughts?
  3. We are going on our third trip to Alaska next July!! We were going again this July - but hey ho!!! - on the Bliss to Glacier Bay. But when we saw the Bliss itinerary had changed we stayed with the ship and so now have Icy Strait Point and Endicott/Dawes as we haven't been to those and have already seen Glacier Bay. So cannot comment on ISP or Endicott/Dawes but for a first trip you cannot go wrong with Glacier Bay - its definitely awesome!!!
  4. Some of you posting on this thread need to take a chill pill There's so much information circulating at the moment its difficult to know what is current, accurate, timely, - and so its disappointing to see board members jump down each others throats. Some of you should be ashamed at your behaviour Just remember the phrase - Lies, damn lies and statistics.
  5. Have to say I agree - don't think the poster was being unkind but when you write such a long post it makes it really hard to read if you dont break it up a bit. What you say is really important and the points are well made but half way through you feel like giving up. They say that all feedback is good feedback so please take this as a kind and helpful response to what is an excellent post in terms of details!! 🙂
  6. I'm sorry to say but the way things are going I think its extremely unlikely there will be any chance of your cruise going!! We had booked on the Bliss for 26th July and have taken the decision to move it to July 2021. Two reasons - firstly, if it did go then I still think putting 4000 people in a confined space at this time still presents a risk in that if someone becomes infected we all get stuck on the ship!! And second, I simply don't think it will be sailing - and so easier now to change and make plans for next year
  7. Interestingly we just moved our July 26th Alaska Bliss sailing to July 17th 2021 and both our agent and an NCL cust services rep said our shorex was to be refunded I then got an email from NCL saying it wasnt and that those bookings formed a part of the FCC. I was on the phone to them for an hour and eventually spoke to a supervisor who said that was indeed the terms of the Peace of Mind Guarantee. So as it stands I have paid for a cruise this year that will not be sailing and Shorex and NCL is taking all that as FCC onto the booking next year - which is £1000 less than this year because of the discounts AND i CANNOT use the FCC to book any shore excursions and have to start again with he balance being written down as remaining FCC. I may not cruise again for another 2 years and so this money is lost!! I am waiting for my TA to speak with NCL and the NCL cust serve is talking to "Finance" on Monday as this is grossly unfair!!!

  9. Here tiz NCL UBP FAV DRINKS 2017 edition.xls
  10. Even that was out the porthole Seriously..................
  11. Had a great time on this cruise - the weird thing was that it is still NCL but heavy metal music plays everywhere, the announcements are made by the Megacruise team, and even the captain said a naughty word on occasion - there are no dress restrictions and to be honest I had a brilliant time. Everyone is there for the same thing and so the vibe and feel and music is all on point and if you like that kind of music then its great. The only thing that was a touch strange is that there were two days at sea and we went from LA to San Diego to Ensenada and back so at times the ship was doing about 4knts and the route map showed it heading out into the Pacific for no apparent reason!! Maybe another port would have been a good idea?? Other than that it was a really fun time and I had tacos and Margaritas in Mexico as Ive never been there (an Ensenada had the BIGGEST flag flying Ive ever seen!!) So if you have a particular interest - music, food, art, etc etc etc then I can recommend a specialist cruise like this. Oh and Band of the Week - Anthrax by a streak!!
  12. This cruise heads out tomorrow - Sunday 13th October - and Im going to be on it!! Felt weird filling in all the usual NCL documentation however it was easy for me because all my details were already stored. There is a separate set of information about the cruise from the organisers and interestingly there is no dress code anywhere on the ship save for not wearing swimwear in the seated restaurants!! I will report back as we go to give a flavour of the week!!
  13. Just giving a teeny bump as I am going on this in October and was wondering if anyone else on the board is going too?
  14. Doing this cruise next July - so its wonderful to be able to follow along. Cinque Terra looked really good - have added that to my list
  15. Im hoping there will not be too many hurricanes in Alaska :-)
