[/COLOR][/FONT] [FONT=Comic Sans MS][COLOR=purple]I will add: We bought the cruise recipe book and got a free tour of the galley with it... definately worth the money to get both.[/COLOR][/FONT] [FONT=Comic Sans MS][COLOR=purple]The Quest (we have pictures of all you blokes!) and the Love & Marriage shows were great fun, don't miss them!:D[/COLOR][/FONT] [FONT=Comic Sans MS][COLOR=purple]We also had a great holiday and enjoyed the ship and crew very much. We were on deck 4 midship and hardly felt any movement and I slept like a baby. [/COLOR][/FONT] [FONT=Comic Sans MS][COLOR=purple]My 12 yo son did the rock climbing wall a few times and enjoyed it, he also had fun in the teen centre and met lots of other kids (just under 500 for this cruise!).     Rhapsody 13 December - quick boarding

    I think the food is really good, better than the Princess buffet. We checked out our dining room table and it's a table for four on the upper level over looking the open area so we're happy with that too. Can't get into our cabin yet though so can't comment on that. The sun has come out so yeah I hope it stays. I'm on my iPhone so can post until about 7:30 tonight if anyone has questions. Cheers Kim

Specialty beverages, beer, wine and soda are offered at current bar menu prices. [FONT=Comic Sans MS][COLOR=purple]I guess it's up to the individual.     I emailed Wilson's Parking a couple months ago, you can only use the Murray Street parking station for this, here's the information: Please find below the information you require for the cruise. The parking is available to everyone going on a cruise. You will have to enter the Car park at 100 Murray Street at least 1.5 hours before the cruise departs. Then you will have to go the pay station and see the attendant once you have parked your car and speak to the attendant explain what you are doing and he will help you. Give him your name, contact Rego and the number of days you are going to park for. Put your ticket in a safe place. Then when you return you do the reverse. If the attendant is not there just call the number provided The fee is $14.00 a day. Cheers, Kim

    US Travel Agents

    I've used the same US online agent twice now and wouldn't hesitate to use them again and again. The savings are well worth it and there have been no problems with security, the one I use has a secure online payment method, I have also called them so there is always phone payments if you have a problem paying online. Aussie TA's just can't compete with some of the discounted prices that US TA's can give. I saved about 1K on my last cruise compared to any Aussie TA and will probably save about the same this time round.... that's a lot of on board drinks! :) cheers,

    My understanding is this: 1. You pay before you go - you will be given vouchers to put in the tips envelopes to give to the staff at the end of the cruse. Most Aussie TA's for RCCL have you pay them before you cruise, probably because they think a lot of Aussies are not accustomed to paying tips, but if you book through a US TA then you don't have to do this if you don't want to. 2. You pay once on board - go to the pursers desk and ask to have them added to your cruise card and they will give you vouchers toward the end of the cruise and you just put them in the tipping envelopes so you have something to give the stewards/waiters etc. (so it doesn't look like you stiffed them!). 3. You pay cash - put the cash in the tips envelopes and give them out as above. It seems to me RCCL makes it hard for you NOT to pay the tips.... Cheers,

    Flavoured Rum on RCI ships

    Thanks for all the posts, I am so happy now that I know I will be coming home with some rum. The recipes sound great, never had rum cake like that before! And I don't have to worry about packing the bottles they will just go in the car as we're driving to/from the port. Thanks again for all your help. Cheers
  12. Can someone tell me if you can buy flavoured rum in the shops on RCI ships. We really loved the Cruzon rum we got on Princess but we have now run out. Would love to get some more as it isn't sold here in Australia. Thanks Kim

    Most fun Holiday to be on Board

    [FONT=Comic Sans MS][SIZE=3][COLOR=purple]We did Christmas and New Year's; Christmas was like any other day but New Year's Eve was great, very lively, everyone happy, smiling and in a party mood.     This is taken from my Ports of Call review back in January 2005; Wellington Port side to the dock. Fine sunny day with some cloudy periods. We had booked a private tour with Wellington Rover Tours over the internet and after they were finally allowed onto the dock we left around 9am. It was the Rover Ring Tour visiting places of interest all to do with the Lord of the Rings with lunch and afternoon tea included. Paul is the LOTR fan so I just enjoyed the day as sightseeing. When we booked we asked for one lunch to be vegetarian but when lunch was set up there was no vegetarian sandwiches provided. Another person on the tour, also from the ship, had specified no pork and most of the sandwiches had either ham or bacon on them! When we told the guide of our problem he just shrugged and said ‘oh well’. No apology or ‘sorry’… We paid NZ$150 each for this tour and to me that is just NOT good enough! Lunch seemed rushed to me and there was no afternoon tea stop at all. The guide did take us to Te Papa to the shop there which sells LOTR souvenirs but he gave us just 15 mins. He didn’t have to take us there but we had time since we didn’t stop for afternoon tea so it was the least he could have done, we got back to the ship at 4:30pm. I would only recommend this tour to diehard LOTR fans. We had bagpipers send us off. Two and a half years later and I still feel the same. The tour was really mostly sightseeing with places of interest from the movie thrown in. I still remember the family of four that also took this tour that were not happy with it. The wife/mother asked to be dropped off in the city before lunch because she hated sitting in the back of the mini bus and didn't like any of the tour up to that point... her choice of course. The TePapa museum was great... what little we saw of it. My recommendation, for what it's worth, would be take a morning tour and then get dropped off at the museum afterwards and then do that on your own, then when you're ready you can walk back to the ship or catch one of the shuttles, definately worth more than a 15 minute look. We got the room on Wotif.com at a good last minute rate which included parking, full buffet breakfast for 2 and a $50 petrol voucher (which meant it didn't cost us anything in petrol to go to Sydney and back from Canberra)[/COLOR][/SIZE][/FONT] [FONT=Comic Sans MS][SIZE=3][COLOR=darkorchid][/COLOR][/SIZE][/FONT] [FONT=Comic Sans MS][SIZE=3][COLOR=darkorchid]The staff were excellent, nothing was too much trouble and the young men at the front door are just waiting for you to walk in or out so they can open the door for you.[/COLOR][/SIZE][/FONT] [FONT=Comic Sans MS][SIZE=3][COLOR=darkorchid][/COLOR][/SIZE][/FONT] [FONT=Comic Sans MS][SIZE=3][COLOR=darkorchid]The room was lovely, with a king size bed, we had a fourth floor room so not much of a view over the city. The bathroom has a speaker so you can hear the TV which was novel, the bath and shower are seperate which I like. The Sunday newspaper was waiting outside everyones door in the morning... free[/COLOR][/SIZE][/FONT] [FONT=Comic Sans MS][SIZE=3][COLOR=darkorchid][/COLOR][/SIZE][/FONT] [FONT=Comic Sans MS][SIZE=3][COLOR=darkorchid]Breakfast was the nicest we've had as buffets go in big city hotels (and I try them as often as I can, including Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland, Seattle, Anchorage). One server is putting fresh oranges in one of those big machines that cuts and juices all at once... yumm I love fresh OJ, while others are seating you and bringing fresh brewed coffee/tea. Everything on the buffet was fresh, nothing soggy. Eggs any way you want them, pancakes with syrup, bacon, sausages, grilled tomato, fresh fruit platters, continental whatever you want... OH yeah no baked beans to my partners dismay...
