  1. Does anyone have any update on their experience at the ports, post-strike?  We are cruising out of NYC on Oct 13 and I am curious if anyone has been on a ship that departed from an East Coast port in the last few days and could provide an update.

  2. I am sure this has been answered but just giving another option.  We have been on Edge, Apex, and now Beyond (April 22).  All three were IV and we love it.  Since we have not been in a suite, I cannot add comments on that but these ships cater to everyone...not just suites.  The crew was outstanding and there are so many venues to explore and enjoy.  One great find for us was the Plunge Pool on the starboard side near the back.   It is close to the smoking section but that does not interfere at all.   The sunset bar is also a favorite.  Cheers!

  3. Room 7185 on April 22 sailing.  We did not have a single snap, crackle, or pop the entire trip and we were in moderate 6-9 footers for several days.  In fact, the ship was as stable (not listing) as any we have taken in the last few years.  Fantastic ship, crew, experience and Captain!  Would take this one again.  RE:Captain......Kate met everyone as they disembarked at the bottom of the gangway to thank them and took pictures with anyone who asked.  Well done Celebrity!

I sailed CC at the end of Feb, Prime Rib was on the menu twice and lobster once....  On Lobster night, our waiter recommended ordering an entree and adding on a lobster tail.... No charge...  Only upcharge if you ordered the Lobster dinner and added on another tail....

Do you recall what night was Lobster night?  We do specialty dining at least three nights and I want to make sure I am not heading to get sushi on that night.  Thanks!!

It was more of an issue for me, probably, because I spend a lot of time in the cabin.  Journaling, looking out at the sea, napping…. If you were just sleeping in the cabin and either a sound sleeper or have ear plugs or a white noise machine (I had both) then you’ll probably be fine.  And maybe X has done some fixes!  And Beyond is a stunningly beautiful ship.

Thanks for the added info.  I saw you mentioned last year so I was hoping for the same.  My sleep patterns will correlate directly to the damage I do to the drink package, how late we stay in the casino, or late-night events.

We were in 7161 on Beyond last year.  Loud bangs throughout the day and night.  I had ear plugs and a white noise machine and just tried my best to ignore it.  But it was enough of a problem for me (light sleeper) that I decided never to sail on Beyond or the later ships.  I have sailed Edge and Apex with no problem…but maybe I was just lucky then…

Bummer but thanks for the reply.  I won't let it ruin my cruise at all.  However, I am ordering earplugs now.

  7. Thanks all for the info and confirmation.  We are on the Eclipse in June for two overnights and we planned one evening for this event.  Read elsewhere about the ferry and not taking the cruise excursion.  Plan to spend my money on a D&S and some dinner at Flannigans rather than give to Celebrity.

We are doing that tour later this month.  Did you choose wineries before hand?

We picked a few and our driver picked one.  Here are some of the ones we have visited (note: we have done this excursion twice so these are across two trips).  Magoni - The inside tour was just okay...outside tasting area was really cool.  Bruma - One of the nicest wineries we have been to.  Great tour and an incredible restaurant with tapas on the property.  You need a reservation for this one.   Our driver (Josue') knew someone working the desk and called and got us in.  Xecue' - Just a tasting room and a nice patio.  Tasted 5 of their wines.  Nice setting.  Next trip we went to Monte Xanic - Nice tour and sat on the patio for our tasting.  Nice property.  The next stop was Clos de Tres Cantos.  No tour on this one but a nice setting/view for the tasting.  They also paired the wines with chocolates that were fantastic.  The last one was Vena Cava.  Really cool story and venue.   They also have a food truck on site.  Good luck and enjoy!

Thanks.  I did see some tours there and others on line.  Was just hoping someone had personal experience with a tour/guide.

Couples Tour is the name of the one we did and Josue was our driver both times.  He is awesome and you can ask for him too.

  10. Could not agree more with AMediator.  My wife and I are mid - late 50's and enjoy our wine.  We did a private tour for 5 hours and visited 3 different wineries.  Was the highlight of the trip.  Then a year later (Dec 23), we were fortunate to go on another MR cruise with the same itinerary and hired the same driver as before.  I found one we wanted to visit and he found us two others.  Again, a highlight of the trip.  We have been to Napa four times and this is right up there with those trips.

That wine list for speciality dining on Post#2 of this thread is confusing. It says "premium plus" for some of the bottles but at the bottom it says 40% discount. Can you please explain it for me? Thanks

The 40% may be the discount you receive on other bottles when you have a P+ plan.  On the ship, there is a menu that includes the ones included in P+.  I thought I had a copy but I could not find it.
