  1. Hi....we take the coach from Preston....tried alternative ways....self drive....train but now would always take the coach transfer....less stressful. You would have to go the day before if travelling by train/self drive....extra cost.... and even then it may not be stress free/incident free. Our holiday starts when we board the coach at Preston...bye bye luggage....see you in the cabin....no hassling with all the cases as you do on the train. As been stated the worse part is the journey home but for us a relatively small price to pay for a more relaxing travelling experience. It is now a case....no coach....no cruise
  2. We are doing the Christmas cruise on Arcadia Dec 22 and it has 3 overnight stays....really looking forward to it especially after reading Andy's comments....hopefully by then cruising will resemble something more like normal
  3. If you are wearing a shirt and normal suit do you wear an ordinary tie or dicky bow?
  4. My thoughts too....I choose a balcony cabin on deck 9 so may look to change to a higher deck although we are quite near to the front

It's not just that you will be like a fish in a goldfish ball it will be the noise of the chatter from peeps maybe sitting on chairs right up to your balcony....imagine it....you trying to relax on your balcony and a full scale conversation going on on the other side of the partition..... and if you are near the whirlpools you will have the delightful noise of children enjoying themselves.....very relaxing....if you book a Saver balcony cabin at least you can be pretty sure what deck you will end up on!

Hi.....I wouldn't be a " happy bunny" with a balcony cabin on the promenade deck for the reasons you have stated plus the chatter of people as they go bye or worse still linger . so I wouldn't say that you are overreacting.....I just can't understand the logic of in the planning stage having balcony cabins placed so low down....surely they must have realised the major disadvantages ....as SarahHben has said she has posted a video ....well worth a look We are on deck 9 and even on that deck I am beginning to wonder if we should have been a deck or two higher

Hi Jean.....we have a cruise booked for next April....I was under the impression that when we booked the cruise that we could change the cruise....free transfer....to another cruise ....even one that is less in price and as many times as we liked but of course it may depend what the T&Cs are at the time of booking....we booked ours November 2020
  8. I booked a cruise at brochure launch and the price included my past passenger discount I am now considering upgrading the cabin but the price being quoted seems to be the current price. I always thought that if you were upgrading an already booked cruise it would be the price at date of original booking .....so 2 queries When upgrading am I correct in saying new price will be price on day of original booking and will I still be entitled to my past passenger discount that I received at launch? Is there a website that states brochure launch prices.....seem to remember a few years ago that there was but I am not entirely certain ?

Yes...I have resorted to using the 2 hand towels provided but I just don't understand why the towels have to be so big....it must increase the laundering and drying costs of these towels and as I said in my above post the size of them is not necessary when you have an exceptionally good towel that absorbs really well....Binny towels prime example. But I take your point as using them as wraps to " chill" after having your shower
  10. Aaaahhhh....Binny towels....my mother used these towels. last year I managed to find some....brand new...on Ebay. Not overly large but my goodness more than adequate for drying oneself after a bath/shower....goes to show that " size doesn't matter" 😁

Even though we only cruise from Southampton now, we travel down by coach....not car....so are limited to how many cases we can take and I couldn't possibly leave any clothes at home....the ones that you take just in case but never use....they would certainly be the ones that I would definitely need ! 😃
  14. Mmmmm....suppose I could but my hubby complains now about the amount of "stuff" I take on a cruise/holiday ....if I was taking extra luggage....bath towels ....he may decide to leave me at home!
  15. Hi....bit of a different question but what are your thoughts on the towels in the bathroom...the ones provided for the shower/bath specifically. I personally find that the towels provided on cruise ships.... and hotels.... are usually not bath towels but bath sheets...thick....white(ish).....BIG....and for me unwieldy. Even lifting them never mind trying to dry myself with them leaves me " shattered"....I just can't manhandle them.....why do cruises/hotels think that we need such big cumbersome things when normal bath towels of a reasonable thickness will suffice....would have thought that the saving on laundering costs would have been a consideration. At home I don't use cheepo towels...Sheridan normal bath size ...which are more than adequate even for my hubby. When on holiday in this country I have resorted to taking my own micro fibre towels which gets the job done but not able to do that when cruising.

Is it £90 per day or £90 per day extra...personally I wouldn't want a balcony on any of the decks you stated...on Azura/ Ventura I would compromise between an inside and a balcony and have an outside cabin on P deck...I love the convenience of P deck outside cabins...wouldn't have an outside cabin on any other deck though...just P deck.
  17. Hi...what I call the classics...prawn cocktail/tomato soup...salmon/steak are still on the last menu shown but don't think the chicken is.
  18. Probably the easiest....cheapest....less hassle ....sorted if any travel delays....especially at that time of year....is the one that you have ruled out. Like you I don't think we would be " comfortable" leaving our car in the middle of Winter. Have you any family/friends who could drive you down the day before and all of you stay overnight then on return journey they drive down the day before and stay in a hotel. Not sure how cost effective that would be but just a thought. We have tried different ways of travelling down but now ....for us....we find the coach transfer the best option ....it's problem free...we stay in a hotel overnight next to the pick up point so no early start but everyone is different and if its not for you it's not for you. 🙂

  21. Hi....yes...if TA stays afloat more difficult but my point to bungle 66 was if your TA goes bust then P&O take the booking over
  22. A number of years ago the TA that we had booked with...Gills cruising....suddenly went bust....P&O just took over the booking ....honoured the discounted price received through the TA and kept all of the booking details and requirements the same
  23. Hi...yes we were affected by that so wanted to be sure that the cruise we are going to book on for Dec 2022 was not Ijmuiden/Rotterdam. I emailed P&O and asked which dock/berth they are going to dock at and they confirmed Handelskade berth....hence my question
