I got a similar email today. I called to ask why I had penalties and they said they had been waived and I was getting a full refund. I don’t know why it’s so hard to get a correct confirmation.

  3. Called carnival today and had a person within a few minutes. I inquired about the refund I requested and she said they were processing them in the order of cruises cancelled. I noted that I was cancelled by the government mandate two days before sailing, so if anyone would be seeing refunds yet it would be me. She conceded and got supervisor, albeit remotely. He “removed penalties” (??!?) and authorized a faster refund. I’m not sure I believe any of it.

Sorry to hear it mbarker, I read on another thread that their Accounting Dept. is closed, but how is it that their customer call center and their personal cruise assistants are still working?

I'd recommend calling them and seeing what they can do to expedite the refund.  Carnival needs to find some way to either let their accounting dept. work to complete all the refunds AND be safe.  Maybe cut staff down and rotate them every week.

I was definitely salty when I got a call from a cruise assistant last week.

A lot of folks need that money back because of various situations that COVID-19 has put them in.  Carnival shouldn't be holding onto that money any longer.  I'm sorry if it puts them in a precarious financial position to start refunding it all without securing their finances (like the rumored loan they might take), but they're going to anger more customers the longer they take.

This is us. We had the money when we had two jobs and some side hustle income. Now we only have one job and no side hustle income. I need the money, like ASAP. I know they’re pushed. I know. But that 3k would help keep my family afloat the next few months. We are due to sail out the day before the presidential announcement came. If they’re working by sail date, we should’ve been some of the first receiving refunds.

I know Carnival is busy but I was suppose to sail in 8 days and it still shows my upcoming cruise and trying to get me to purchase Spa treatments for a 10% discount. I filled up my cart with items to see if it would allow me to purchase and, yes it would have.

I was set to leave today and it’s still in my cruises and I got a boarding pass reminder email this morning. I think it’s just taking time to cancel everything.

Keep checking back. I have two nights non-refundable for the Marriott in NO for our May cruise.  Today, they finally updated the COVID-19 policy to allow for cancellations without fees. Your hotel might update their policy as this continues on into April.

Unfortunately I booked through travelocity and at this point I can't even get through, their lines are down, and we were supposed to be there tonight. I don't know how it will all go down.

  8. We have been informed that the Governor of Maryland has closed the Port of Baltimore. Approval has been granted for Carnival Pride to dock on Sunday to disembark guests currently on board. However, we are sorry that we will not be able to operate the March 15, 2020, cruise as scheduled.

All guests may select one of the following options:

    • Receive a 100% Future Cruise Credit (FCC), plus a US$600, per stateroom, onboard credit when you rebook your future cruise.*

    • Receive a cash refund, to be processed to the original form of payment within 90 days.

In either case, taxes, fees and port expenses, pre-purchased Carnival shore excursions, beverage and Wi-Fi packages, and Fun Shop purchases will be automatically refunded. If you have independent air, we encourage you to contact your airline carrier directly as they are being flexible with change fees.

Since we are experiencing a high call volume, please complete this form to let us know which option you prefer. We will process your request and send you a confirmation. There is no need to call us.

We sincerely apologize for the disruption to your vacation plans and thank you for your understanding. We look forward to welcoming you on a Carnival cruise in the future.

    Hi all!

I’m looking for some advice in the area of Carnival scheduled excursions. Husband and I leave on the Horizon 3/21 which is scheduled to stop in Grand Turk. Recent events and posts seem to indicate that won’t be happening...bummer.

Grand Turk is the only port I scheduled an excursion in and we were really looking forward to it but oh well, things change. My question is this—

I’m assuming we would be refunded the cost of the excursion in the event we don’t port at GT. My worry is that other excursions in the remaining ports may book up quickly after the announcement is made with people making up for their missed GT excursion.

There’s one in Aruba we wouldn’t mind doing, and I’m wondering if it would be smart to just book it now, before getting on the ship. I would hate to wait till muster to hear we’re not stopping in Grand Turk and then have the guest services line be a mile long with people changing excursions only to find out the one we want to do is booked.

Do any frequent cruisers have any insight on an issue like this? Should I just book The Aruba excursion now? If we end up stopping in Grand Turk would there a penalty to canceling an already booked excursion in a later port?

Thanks for any help. First time cruising with Carnival and it’s our honeymoon, so I want it to be as stress-free as possible!

I'm really hoping GT stays a stop! It's still on the schedule.. https://www.visittci.com/grand-turk-cruise-center#port-schedule

Wish we could have joined you!  When I read about dirt low prices, that's the one I looked at.  Have fun!

I'm really hoping we stop at Grand Turk, it's one reason we chose that itinerary.
