  1. Thanks so much for posting this. I filled out the form and hopefully it will be approved. I like others have received the Princess OBC.
  2. thanks for posting, we are on the February 14 2022 cruise and have not been notified that it has been cancelled.
  3. we use to go to LV six times a year, but not any more. Went in June 2021, on the strip minimum bet's were $50 on blackjack and other table games as well as the crap table. Agree that you get nickeled and dimed for everything. I left a comment at one casino and said that LV has to change their strategy or no way that most gamblers can afford to play
  4. Agree with BruceMuzz, we have never been questioned or stopped in the 10 times we have entered Japan. On one cruise my wife and her friend bought a lot of make up in Busan Korea and they were not questioned, stopped or even asked to fill out a custom form to declare any cosmetics when we disembarked in Yokohama.
  5. I agree with the others, time played seems to be more important the $$ won or lost. This applied to Holland America, Celebrity and Princess. I normally spend an hour after dinner or the show and on sea days a couple of hours during the day. I get casino offers from all three lines, not always a free inside cabin, but attractive discounts and free play. I also get to know the casino host (the one in charge of the slot tournaments and table game contests.) Not sure if this helps in getting discounts however.
  6. It might help to know what you plan to do before giving advice and which airport and hotel. Is this your first trip and do you plan to spend pre or post cruise time in Tokyo rather than Yokohama? You can check on the price of the transfers from either airport to Yokohama on the Celebrity website under travel or under the excursions under manage my booking. The cost on Holland American from Haneda to the cruise port is $39 per person. They have buses from either Narita or Haneda to Yokohama that are very reasonable and then you can take a taxi to the cruise port. Check youtube, there are a number of videos on taking the bus from either airport to Yokohama.
  7. Take a look at Holland America, not sure about 2021, but we are on a cruise from Yokohama to Hong Kong with stops in Osaka, Naha, Ishigaki Island, Keelung & Kaoshung - Taiwan, Manila, Boracay & Puerto Princesa in the Philippine from February 14 to 28, 2022. Also look at Princess, we are on a cruise in 2022, but I'm also not sure about 2021. Celebrity also has cruises around Japan. .

    Yokohama hotels

In August 2018 we stayed at the Daiwa Roynet - Koen hotel. Pretty reasonable rate, very clean. It's across the street from the Yokohama baseball park and right near Chinatown. I found it on trip advisors, it had good ratings. It's close to the port so a taxi was less than $20.
  9. We stayed at the Daiwa Roynet Koen, clean and reasonable price. Near Chinatown and less than UD$20 for a taxi to Osanbashi Cruise Terminal (assuming this is dock you are leaving from) Another option is the Hotel New Grand, you can see the terminal from the hotel. https://www.tripadvisor.com/SmartDeals-g14127330-d2417799-Keihin_Ferry_Boat_Inc-Naka_Yokohama_Kanagawa_Prefecture_Kanto-Hotel-Deals.html#MAPVIEW
  10. do a search on youtube on how to use an ATM in Japan including where they are located at Narita and Haneda. As mentioned 7 / 11 stores have ATM's , here is a video on how to use them
  11. One of the things we found interesting is the "ghost buildings in the area by the port", new multi story apartments and near the train station, office buildings that were completely empty. There were no local shops, restaurants or markets. We saw a Starbucks sign on a store and it was empty and never occupied, just the sign.
  12. Note the cruise port terminal is located in a new area. I don't think they sell liquor in the cruise terminal and there are no shops near the terminal. Therefore, you will have to purchase liquor before you get to the terminal and the city of Tianjin is not close, about 38 miles away. https://www.chinahighlights.com/tianjin/tianjin-cruise-port.htm
  13. If you are comfortable with a small group, 16 at the maximum I would look at Overseas Adventure Travel (part of Grand Circle Travel headquartered in the Boston area) Much cheaper and their tour allows you time to get adjusted to the altitude, spend afternoon and next morning at MP and you stay at a hotel in the town near MP.
  14. Not sure if this has been posted, but something special at the Singapore Airport
  15. You might look into an independent contractor to take you to the port. We used the Roll Call for our cruise to get 8 passengers and then booked a Green Tomato mini bus to take us from a hotel in Tokyo to the port in Yokohama. See the information from Trip Advisors https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g298161-d8674294-Reviews-Green_Tomato_Airport_Shuttle-Narita_Chiba_Prefecture_Kanto.html
  16. If your going to stay in Yokohama (rather than Tokyo) it's easy to take a bus from Haneda to YCAT (Yokohama City Airport Terminal) and then a taxi to your hotel. you can also take a bus to Tokyo, just do a search on youtube. Assuming you are leaving from Osanbashi Cruise Terminal, then a hotel near the port is Hotel New Grand (the hotel is also near Chinatown and the Cup Of Noodles Museum plus many other attractions. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Hotel+New+Grand/@35.4460505,139.6461426,17z/data=!3m1!5s0x60185ce297361643:0x4ceb5b0528839890!4m15!1m6!3m5!1s0x60185cfbfa5d4e
  17. Might help to have more information. Which airport are you flying into (Narita or Haneda) and what port are you departing from, Yokohama? Lowest cost option if your leaving from Yokohama is to fly into Haneda and stay at a hotel near the port. Do you have a budget for the hotel and do you want to do any sight seeing?

    Owodori hats

Might you be looking for the Awa Odori hat's worn by the dancers? It's in Tokushima, so they would have the hats there but I'm sure they sell them in other places in Japan https://jtex.wordpress.com/2009/10/11/dance-costume-3-awa-odori-women/ https://www.tokyoweekender.com/2017/08/awa-odori-the-story-behind-japans-biggest-dance-festival/
  19. thank you. we are going in a July cruise, very helpful information
  20. older video on departing, but gives you an idea of what is like.
  21. Most taxi drivers speak some English, but take the location in Chinese. Unless there is something unusual going on, the cruise port will be Kai Tak (the old airport), we were on the Celebrity Millennium. There are a lot of seating areas in the terminal so you won't have a problem in finding a place to sit. About 1/2 hour before they started the boarding process, Celebrity provided water. Porters did take our large luggage when we got out of the taxi so we only had our carry on luggage. (the porters were there helping passengers disembarking from the prior cruise).
  22. We faced the same issue, arrived early in the morning (7:00 am) and ended up taking a taxi. There were a lot of taxis even early in the morning so we didn't have any problems. I paid in HK Dollars so I'm not sure if they take credit cards. We got to Kai Tak Cruise terminal in no time since it was so early in the morning, probably about 30 to 45 minutes. We had to wait a couple of hours until we could get processed and board the ship. Here is a link that might help you. https://www.taxifarefinder.com/main.php?city=Hong-Kong-China&from=Kai+Tak+Cruise+Terminal%2C+33+Shing+Fung+Rd%2C+Kwun+Tong%2C+Hong+Kong&to=Hong+Kong+International+Airport+(Chek+
  23. Like the others have said, thank you for the review. We are on the July 24 th cruise so your information is very helpful.
  24. not sure if this will help. See comment from KMCNALLY, post #212 on page 9. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2571397-july-24-2019-crown-princess-out-of-southampton/page/9/
