  1. None of this answers my question. Here is an example of incompetence......she hasn't had no clue about the future cruise vouchers you may purchase on the river cruises.
  2. On this cruise its meager. I would get $200pp OBC. And the privilege of making final payment 6 months From sailing. Everything else is BS.
  3. Thanks for these responses. But I want to be clear...I may move to a land based Viking agent so that she will get the commission. Correct? I don't want the ship board agent to make any money from me. I should also add that I transfer my booking to an independent agent within 30 days.
  4. I'm having a wonderful time on the Neptune now, except for my interactions with the cruise consultant. I basically would need to see her three times to complete a booking. My question- has anyone booked on board and then transfered to your regular Viking agent the booking? I want my land agent to get the commission for all my aggravation with the on board agent. Thanks
  5. On the Neptune now and looking at the menu in the Explorer's lounge. They offer a house white, red or rose at $7. The silver spirit wines can be separately purchased at $8. And I need to add that "supply chain " issues continue. Beverage Manager tells me that Viking got a new European distributor. I believe I heard that one before.
  6. We are on board with you and did the excursion. Honestly there was only a 5 minute period where the walk was demanding. You had to walk uphill at a 40 to 45 degree angle. It was to reach a viewpoint that could have been skipped.
  7. Sorry, I agree with Dave. The refund should have been posted to your account before you left the ship. To call it "Goodwill" is insulting and sounds to me like charity on Viking's behalf. I have read these boards long enough to know a bit about CC and Clay. If the same situation happened to you, you would complain. I know I would. Everyone is different. Dave didn't ask for advice.
  8. I hope your cruise exceeded your expectations!
  9. Thank you PRH! Next time we meet, the first drink is on me.
  10. You should book the wine tastings soon after you board the ship. After making restaurant reservations, of course. I have booked the wine tastings at guest services. I ask them to look it up and book the ones that are complementary with Silver Spirits. Some cost additional $.
  11. FYI... Viking will not exchange currencies. However, they will happily break larger denominations into smaller ones.
  12. OML Claimed to be up to free air and reduced priced cabins.
  13. My Dear Moonlion, We will be on the next cruise out of Bergen. Question- Any wait staff in the Restaurant or stations you would recommend? I always seem to get seated with newbies. Also any names for the bar staff? Thanks. I enjoy your writeup.
  14. Agreed about Honfleur. Take the Viking river cruise that starts in Paris to really see the city.
  15. Will be on that cruise with you. If you note the tour is only 2 hours. In the write-up for this excursion it describes "demanding" as being three hours or more. We are walking in the town center and harbor so how bad can it be. The day before the port there is always a port talk in the theater. And they always go into more detail as to who would have a problem with the tour.
  16. Hey Sleepy! "Well, there you go again". Thank you for providing the invite over at Viking. You have done another amazing job of allowing everyone to see this cruise thru your eyes. And very pretty eyes. The food choices you had were remarkable in their diversity. Enjoyed reading your comments. Thank you for all the time spent creating this journey for all to share. Now, you must comment on this board about how this cruise and a Viking cruise are the same/different. Sorry to ask and don't ignore me if I ever see you! 🙂
  17. Hi Hunky, If you get those pesky brochures with promo codes besides the "EBD", could you please post them on CruiseCritic? Thanks Also, from my experience, I agree with Rex. Brochures stop after you book a cruise. Been with Viking a long time and brochures do arrive but they are perhaps a handful a year.
  18. But we still like you!
  19. I go into the "Price and Build" and enter the promo code. Interesting that it says up to $1K, while the brochure says $500. Here is the acknowledgement from Viking of a successful promo code- Offers & Discounts Offer code entered Up to $1,000 Shipboard Credit per couple LCT23 TOTAL - -
  20. Azamara! Sleepy....you are straying further and further from Torstein (he doesn't look it, does he?) and Karine. They can get nasty when angry! For me this year my wife and I are doing Iceland and Norway on the Neptune in May. Just when the Long Island weather is perfect. Followed by Capitals of Eastern Europe in July and the Mekong river cruise in August on you know who. Make sure you post in the Virtual Lounge so that I can read up on your adventures. Regards, Mbo
  21. This cruise is a $500 shipboard credit. I have the booklet with this promo. You should do a "fake" booking online and see what comes up. I would tell my TA to ask Viking to add the promo to your booking before you cancel and rebook. Your TA might tell you that "she" also has a cancellation fee. If I had to guess, they would just add the promo to your current booking.
  22. Hey Sleep7, I just read your Avalon river cruise adventure. Happy you posted on Viking otherwise I would not have seem this. Happy it went smoothly except for the weather. I will continue my search for you! Regards.
  23. That might have been the day that the bartender was in a heated discussion with me about those emotional support dogs that many of the crew have on board.
