  1. We are booked at the Hispanos Siete Suiza, an apartment hotel that is right around the corner from La Sagrada Familia. We haven't stayed there, bu it is highly recommended on a number of websites. We are getting a two bedroom two bath apartment for the price of one nice (4 star) hotel room. It's a bit of a hike to other sights in the city, but close to a Metro stop. It's in L'Eixample, a residential neighborhood, so you'll have to travel a bit to find good selection of shops and restaurants.
  2. Thanks. Now I'll know how close we will be to the bus station (looks very close).
  3. Does anyone know where the tender boats drop and pick up RCCL passengers?
  4. Our son will be joining us on the second day of the cruise, boarding at the first port of call. How do you think the cruise line will handle muster drill for him? Not a biggie, just curious.
  5. Hmm. Maybe I'll re-think the Sorrento stop. Thanks.
  6. We will be docking in Naples on August 8, at 7 a.m. and departing at 7 p.m. We understand we are supposed to be back on the ship at least one hour before departure. We want to take an early Circumvesuviana train from Naples to Sorrento, hop off at Pompeii, spend a couple of hours there, hop back on the train to Sorrento for lunch and sightseeing. The last hydrofoil appears to leave Sorrento for Naples at 4:25 p.m. and arrives back at the pier near the cruise ships about 40-50 minutes later, which should be OK time-wise. Any opinions? Is this cutting it too close? Do the hydrofoil boats run on time? Should we leave Sorrento earlier, or skip it entirely?
  7. We're going to try Pizzaolo del Presidente. Supposed to be the real deal for true Neapolitan thin-crust pizza. Bill Clinton had pizza there a few years back.
  8. When I booked an August cruise yesterday, the TA told me if we wanted MTD we could select it now but would have to pay the gratuities up front, now. Anyone else heard of this?
  9. A few years ago, we took the Talgo Train from Seattle to Vancouver, at about the same time (7 a.m. ish) and had a very nice breakfast on the train! Check it out, it might be a lot easier than rushing around looking for something near the Amtrak sttaion.
