  1. I didn't say that you did. There are others though, that are quick to chime in and criticize. Everyone has to find the financial vehicle that works the best for them. Some people don't have the discipline to have a credit card and for some people it is a matter of principle.
  2. And that is your choice. My objection is with those people on this forum that every time someone says that they are using cash for their S&S, they have to chime in with a criticism of that choice.
  3. I've never had to sign for a gift card delivery from Carnival from FedEx ???
  4. Using a debit card IS using cash (using the money you have, not money you borrow). There is nothing wrong with using a credit card, if that is your choice. That doesn't mean that it has to be everyone's choice.
  5. This is not normal. I will say that I cancelled my pre-paid grats (to use OBC) and then spoke with Carnival regarding something else about 10 days later. She noticed that my refund hadn't been processed, so she pushed it through. I received the gift card in about 5 days I cancelled an excursion a couple of weeks ago and received my new gift cards in 2 days. They all came FedEx.
  6. I should probably clarify, I have a credit card available for emergencies. I choose not to use it for anything else ... ever. I also agree that it is foolish not to travel without either a credit card or sufficient available liquid assets to handle any emergency. I tend to get a little upset with people who seem to insinuate that people who don't use credit cards for their S&S are somehow "less than" those who do. There is absolutely nothing wrong with using cash for your S&S account. For most people this is a budget management tool.
  7. Yes. Because, oh I don't know, it's true??? I, personally, don't have or want to have credit cards. Cash is king. If I can't afford to pay cash for it, I can't afford it. There are people who are like me and people who, for one reason or another, cannot get a credit card.
  8. The thresholds for going to yellow are posted on the CDC website. It is if there is >0.1% of passengers or 1+ crew members reported with Covid or if the ship is late with it's daily reporting to the CDC.
  9. Not everyone has or wants credit cards. There are those people who want to use cash so as not to tie up their funds in their bank accounts with holds created when using a debit card.
  10. There is no requirement to put money on your account whatsoever. There never has been. The $200 number is simply a recommended amount. The OBC should show on your S&S as soon as you board (mine always has before). If you don't want to add anything to your S&S account, don't. You should still be able to spend whatever you need to when you board.
  11. I would eliminate all doubt by going out and getting some sort of additional free email account for one of them. They never have to use it again if they don't want to.
  12. You can cancel them on the website. They are supposed to automatically refund them if you do that. I was checking on something else when she noticed that the refund had not been processed, so she pushed it through.
  13. Thanks for the tip on YT. BTW, not sure if you knew, but coffees (unless you add alcohol) and bottled water don't count toward your 15. It's 15 alcoholic drinks. All others are unlimited.
  14. I removed my pre-paid grats and received a refund. I had to request it (although I shouldn't have had to).
  15. Here is the information from Carnival: https://www.carnival.com/Legal/covid-19-legal-notices/return-to-service-faqs
  16. Can you get off the ship without your kids? Sure. Do you want to?
  17. When you hear that DON'T HANG UP!! I heard that, hung on, and was placed into the hold queue. You will eventually get to talk to someone.
  18. I know that this has been brought up before, but this will be our first time having Cheers. What are your favorite drinks to try?? Since we normally don't drink a lot, we will never reach the 15 drink limit, even if we try some drinks we end up not liking 🙂
  19. Port fees and taxes are per person, not per room. I'm assuming that @Colorado Beach Bumbooked solo in each room.
  20. I only know that you need 8 cabins to book a group rate. This has to be done through Carnival. There are some perks, but I don't believe that they are significant. https://www.carnival.com/cruising-as-a-group
  21. I would hang it on the back of his wheelchair or have him hold it, if I were you. If you need assistance, even if you have your own wheelchair, there is usually someone available at the port to help you board.
  22. They did say that it was a rapid test.
  23. You need to call them. I cannot stress this enough .... call them!! You will not get your FCC applied by sending in a form. You need to call them.
  24. Yes, a rapid test is acceptable as long as it fits within Carnival's guidelines for the types of tests accepted. You didn't state what type of test Walgreen's is offering, so I really cannot answer. There are multiple types of rapid tests. Antigen tests include (acceptable for fully vaccinated guests only): Rapid antigen test Viral antigen test Antigen Chromatographic Digital Immunoassay Antigen Chemiluminescence Immunoassay, or Antigen Lateral Flow Fluorescence NAAT include (acceptable for vaccinated and unvaccinated guests): PCR – Polymerase chain reaction RT-PCR – reverse transcription real time PCR Quantitative PCR (qPCR) Reverse transcription loop-mediated isothermal amplification (RT-LAMP) test Transcription-mediated amplification (TMA) test Molecular test or molecular diagnostic test Isothermal amplification Droplet Digital PCR or digital droplet PCR (ddPCR) Clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR) A rapid antigen or rapid PCR test is acceptable (of the test types listed above).
  25. IMHO, it's all a crap shoot. Select what will work the best for your family and be prepared for itinerary or ship changes between now and then. 2023 is a long way off. Even pre-covid, there was the risk that a ship would be pulled for dry dock or moved around if you booked that far out.
