    Butler service

Actually not much. We do the pillow menu thing when we first board then our next typical request is a coffee service. MrsK particularly not a morning person without coffee….and I am being very cautious with that statement. W I’ll say that the Arts Cafe on the newer bigger ships have made that less of an issue as I can fetch “octane” easier. Keeping my wife’s preferred Diet Coke in the frig is the next. We are not demanding.
  2. I thought that Silversea was switching over to RCL’s larger and more robust entertainment contract. Supposedly Celebrity has better entertainment under that contract. In fact, I thought that had already happened and the older Silversea contract was not renewed. Has that not happened?
  3. Have to admit we are pretty much shower people. We remodeled our master bath a few years ago and put in a full featured tub along with a large and great shower. I figure over the years since the number of tub baths are running a few hundred dollars per bath. 🙄😬 Our cabin on the Nova next year is shower only and we are perfectly happy with that. The showers only bathrooms look fantastic.
  4. Actually I eat a lot more breakfast on a cruise than at home. Healthy? Well at home better but on a cruise not so much. 🙄😬
  5. i don’t think The Marquee is an indoor protected area per se. Kind of a sidewalk cafe area with some overhead to break up direct sun for part of it and totally outside for the rest. As for bad weather I guess that means the various indoor lounges take the load like they do on the rest of classic fleet.
  6. Kind of wonder what the Shelter is all about. Kind of a strange name for a room on a ship.
  7. I hadn’t noticed the Salt Bar and Salt Kitchen locations until you mentioned it. Strange they put them at basically opposite ends of the ship on different decks. Really got used to every eating venue being aft oriented in all the classic ships. Of course cabins aft is also a real change so “completely different” is an understatement. 🤔🙂
  8. The Grill/Hot Rocks and Spaccanapoli appear to be in an eating area called The Marquee on the pool deck. It’s slightly aft of the pool area. The pictures make it look quite nice. I don’t mind eating around the fringes of the pool but this looks like a nicer eating venue.
  9. I’m afraid I’d get in trouble with the host(s) here. 🙁
  10. Really liking the pictures I’m seeing of the Nova over on the site that cannot be mentioned. Those were taken on the “almost” inaugural cruise of travel agents, cruise line executives, and other invited guests. Some of the venues are very different and look fantastic. About the only new layout I’m not sure about is the pool area. Will probably have see and experience it myself.
  11. It shows on MySilversea as “Promo Htl to Pier- Group” for embarkation date. We usually haven’t booked door-to-door but when we have the “group” transfer has been everything from a bus to a big limo depending on the number of booked passengers at our hotel booked through Silversea.
  12. If you booked door-to-door then yes. If you booked port-to-port but opted for the Silversea pre-cruise hotel then yes. If you booked port-to-port but booked your own hotel even if it is one used by Silversea then you are on your own.
  13. I have never seen a service club meeting but then again I haven’t been looking for one.
  14. Like many I have noticed the lack of hype about the Nova. Of course having an upcoming cruise on the Nova I’m quite interested to get as much information as I can. On top of that our best friends and cruise partners rely on me for information. I often feel like their mini-TA which is fine and I enjoy the research and planning of our cruises. It actually has been easy with pretty much the whole Silversea classic fleet. Other than being smaller or bigger the ships are all laid out about the same. The Nova is very different with a completely different pool deck layout, cabins both forward and aft, less reliance on the usual center hall configuration, and venues spread out rather than the aft orientation of the rest of the fleet. Come on Silversea share more. 😀
  15. Interestingly our help at home (i,e, chef, butler, wait staff, room attendant) all share our names. 🤔🙄 The only other strangely named entity is Somebody…..like in “Somebody needs to go to the grocery store.” or “Somebody needs to take the garbage out.” or “Somebody needs to empty the dishwasher.” 😬
  16. As I recall way back when we first started with Silversea they advertised on their website their butlers were school trained. I think they even said the schools were in England and India. Fast forward to our last cruise on the Dawn and our favorite waiter in La Terrazza was all excited he had just passed his butler test. No explanation of what that consisted of or how he had gotten whatever training he might have gotten. He said after his upcoming break over the summer he was being assigned to the Nova as a butler. Super guy and we would love to have him as a butler next April.
  17. In 2012 on the Wind we paid $100 per person. It was our anniversary/my birthday (yes we got married on my birthday to make a cruise the next day) so it was in line with what we would have paid for an upscale restaurant back home. It was an amazing dinner, way more than LaDame today.
  18. At the “low” end of $1,000 per day for a couple that means you’ve invested at least $350,000 USD. Reminds of the included laundry which you get at 100 days or $100,000 USD. Nice but certainly not “free”. 🙄😬 That said we are booked for the Nova next April and if this new upcharge holds for the Nova I don’t see us booking La Dame which we do typically once a cruise. 🙁
  19. Highly recommend a tour or visit to the Akrotiri archeology site on Santorini. One of the best in the whole Med.
  20. We’ll be on her for a trans-Panama Canal cruise in April. Very excited about the cruise and a whole new Silversea ship with a completely different layout than the rest of the fleet.
  21. 3:2 game with Vegas strip rules last I played. Again, been a few years and contractors come and go and may play different rules now.
  22. I agree with Neilio, they play 6 or 8 card shoes. They used to use Vegas rules but I haven’t played on the last couple of cruises so not sure now.
  23. Hehehe…..nope. 😀 Mrs K got up at 4:45 AM to get to work before 7 AM so I was up early though.
  24. A shoe on all the Silversea ships we’ve been on.
  25. Seems to be working now. Maybe they “fixed it” overnight.
