Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Having sailed both my wife and I clearly enjoyed Symphony, their Oasis class, over Independence. Most enjoyable to us were the Central Park area, the Boardwalk area, and the Aquatheatre entertainment. Not found on the Freedom class ships. We always elected the fixed time dining. While we chose a 5:30 time slot they revised that to 5:15. The earliest my time dining started was 6:15 so when we would leave the restaurant, say 6:45 there were large MTD individuals waiting. We enjoy eating a bit earlier as to be able to walk around prior to the evening shows then the casino. Enjoy which ever you decide!
  2. Also received rescheduling notice for both my Donna Summer reservation as well as my Price is Right reservation. No updated times provided. I booked these shows as early as I could so that they would fit into my speciality dining schedule. Funny thing is I just checked my online NCL cruise planner and both reservations remain with my original selections?
  3. Here is a schedule of the main shows for the 11/12-11/19/23 cruise. Just got off the 11/5/23 cruise and picked this up upon exiting. Hope it gives you an idea of the times. P.S. These are in alignment with what we just had, so it should continue.
  4. An alternative to the ship’s coffee is the Starbucks, extra charge, located midship, deck 6, in the atrium adjacent to the bar on the starboard side. A plain American coffee will be $3.65 and a latte will run $5.34, $5.94 if you add flavor, caramel, chocolate etc.
  5. Follow up to my previous reply. It is currently Wednesday, work day, and as you see on the map below the travel time to LGA is a little over a half hour. On Sundays, with no work traffic, it should be less than 1/2 hour. Suggestion: Since I don’t know the size of your party, the number of suitcases you have, nor how you intend to return to LGA. If you are returning by cab or Uber my suggestion is to cross 12th Avenue, you will be at 48th Street, (there are crossing lights). It is easier to wait there for pick up as the ship side of the street is extremely crowded. Plus any cars coming to pick you up have to go north to 55th street before they can come down to pick you up. There is always a lot of traffic for pick up and the cars have to deal with busses picking up other passengers. How this helps in your planned return,
  6. Am also currently on the Escape. We passed under the Verrazano at 6:12pm and the captain announced at 6:45 that we have made anchor near the bridge. We have now converted a cruise ship into a floating hotel. What’s upsetting is that why did we have to anchor SO soon? The sea were and still seem relatively calm. Nothing a cruise ship shouldn’t be able to handle. The effects of the storm are not scheduled to really affect us until early Saturday. Once we reached close to New York casinos were closed and No further stores would be open. Even games shows with cash prizes have been discontinued. Tell me they couldn’t have remained cruising close to New York so that these venues could stay open for even a little while. We are now stuck on a stationary ship for the next 37 hours. We all know Norwegian seems to have den making every effort to cut costs, from once a day room cleanup to charging a fee for any room service request. My opinion is that the Captain, under Norwegians orders, wanted to assure the Escape would be in New York, not for safety considerations but for its next trip and revenue. It’s upsetting to think you pay for a 7 night SEA cruise and only get 6. Norwegian doesn’t care. They got your money and your now an afterthought. They will never make any compensation effort as it would cost money. They spent their compensation budget on the last cruise.
  7. Due to the shortened length of most Disney cruises, either 3 or 4 nights, and because of Disneys rotational dining most cruisers mainly wear neat cruise casual clothing. Disney wants you to immerse yourself in the ambiance of the dining hall for its entertainment value. I believe on Disneys 7 night cruises they have at least 1 formally announced dress up night or maybe 2. Personally I will go cruise casual most nights but on at least 1 night I’ll put on a sports jacket, khakis, and a button down shirt (no suit). This what I call my picture night.
  8. Looking at The Royal Caribbean app, under dining, main dining room, dinner, they have posted the various menus and it looks like night 3 is lobster night.
  9. Just disembarked from Oasis yesterday, July 15th.Attached is the disembarkation schedule. We left at 8:15, baggage pickup was quick and had only to face scan through customs.
  10. Benny just got off today. He provided plenty of pictures, and none of the shows were cancelled.(Check out his Board from 6/24-7/1 cruise) All shows, Cats, Aqua80, and Frozen in Time (skating) All performed.
  11. Benny, I’d like to thank you for the many observations you’ve made and pictures you’ve attached showing life on the Oasis this past week. As I will be traveling on the Oasis this coming July 8th, I followed your present voyage as well as your May trip with special interest. In late August, we will also be going to Bermuda on the Adventure of the Seas and followed your virtual tour of that ship. I’m constantly amazed that you find the time to post all your messages and it takes me 10 minuets just to compose this short message. Clearly you enjoy the cruising experience and your posts reflect that. Keep posting and thanks again. (notes to self: wear foot apparel on the Promenade, go back in Bennys virtual tour and check which machine in Casino paid the $6,000 jacket and don’t play it as it’s probably tapped out)
