  1. I was wondering this too, with the high socks and nice shoes.
  2. Wow. It looks like the itinerary for our Alaska cruise changed from Hubbard Glacier to Glacier Bay and added Icy Straight to that day as well. I’m excited. Am I seeing something wrong? No activity on the Roll Call. It’s a 50th anniversary trip for my parents. For now we are still planning to go. 😬
  3. I ended up doing that and she said she did. We’ve decided to whale watch in Sitka instead.
  4. I think it’s a great idea too. And we’re Italian. Well at least a 1/4 🙂
  5. Thanks so much for the info! I’ll try and steer us to have lunch in the MDR so maybe they will agree to a non MDR evening meal. We’ve never had Lido dinner before.
  6. Thanks. I was under the impression we wouldn’t see much scenery on the sea day.
  7. We will be leaving Seattle at 4:00 heading to Juneau on Eurodam . It seems the scenery will be really nice leaving Seattle and we won’t hit open water until later that night. We like to eat in the MDR ( family of 6, anytime dining) plus we have one night to eat at PG. Would one offer better views than the other? I hate to miss too much of the scenery as the next day I think will be mostly open water. Thanks
  8. Thanks for the quick reply. I’m not as concerned about seasickness as back and neck discomfort.
  9. Just in case you did not see my question on the other thread, how comfortable/uncomfortable was the ride with Paul in Sitka? Just curious about a smaller boat vs the size of Allen Marines. Thanks
  10. How was the tour. I would really like to do this as opposed to Allen Marine ( which still looks good) How bumpy of a ride was it and how were the seats. My parents will be with us and they have a few aches and pains. Thanks
  11. Sorry. I tried to search for this on the aforementioned thread and as a topic. I can’t seem to find the best search terms. Does HAL offer a bottle of wine if you book specialty dining for the first night? I know some cruise lines do. If so, would it still apply of using the the free Pinnacle Dinner that was part of our booking promotion? Thanks
  12. We will not be arriving in port until 1:00. Has anyone rented that late in the day? It would be cutting it close to get there if they close at 2:00 wouldn’t it?
  13. I just heard back after a few days.
  14. We won’t be going to ISP unfortunately. Does anyone know if Jayleen has a hydrophone on her boat?
  15. Do you mean the cruise lines have Black Friday sales on excursions?
  16. How bumpy of a ride are the smaller 6 passenger tours (Jayleen or Steve etc)? We are a family of 6 adults so it would be great to have a boat all to ourselves. My mom and dad are in there 70s with some aches and pains, especially back problems for mom. Also, we will be in Juneau from 1-9 pm very late August. Would we be able to do a non cruise whale watch and Mendenhall in that time frame? Mendenhall closes at 7:30. If not what do you think of the tram?
  17. Thanks everyone for posting. My family is making the same decision right now. We are all 45 or older though. We’re definitely leaning towards Eurodam even though on the date we need it visits Hubbard instead of Glacier Bay. Sitka is a big draw for me and an hour earlier in Victoria is as well. Plus Eurodam’s deck space, especially aft seems nicer. And the observation lounge looks great too.
  18. That’s what we’re planning on. I just thought a suit jacket and a coat on the plane would be a lot. We will figure it out no matter what. 😄
  19. How about Alaska cruises? Any difference in the level of attire for formal night? It seems like I’m going to have so many layers to pack. My husband has worn his suit jacket on the plane before, but we might have to wear our coats on the plane.
  20. Good to know. Maybe someone else can chime in for the Ruby. Thanks
  21. Starting to narrow down Our choices. Both of these ships have similar Glacier Bay itineraries. I like the port times better for Eurodam and it goes to Sitka. We will most likely be 3 couples in 3 cabins, probably not all verandas. Of the two ships which has better deck viewing? How about interior viewing ( Crows Nest vs Skywalkers Club) ? Thanks
