  1. Congratulations! Do you mind sharing those bidding details for both bids? (your bid amount vs the bidding meter min/max amounts for both the 2bdrm GS and 1bdrm Aquatheater Suite)
  2. Good to know that after placing initial RoyalUP bids, if you later pay to upgrade your stateroom to a higher category (because the price to upgrade was less than a RoyalUP bid) then Royal will cancel those initial bids and send you new RoyalUP offers at a lower minimum bid price point. Thanks!
  3. It would be interesting to find out - do let us know if your minimum allowed RoyalUp bid changes...
  4. Well played, congrats! Just out of curiosity, approx how long before sailing did your RoyalUp bid change from "Modify/Cancel" to "Pending"?
  5. No, the suite concierge did not have time to contact us prior to our sailing, so yes - we just booked dining etc once on board...
  6. Correct - we called our Royal Vacation Planner promptly after winning our RoyalUp bid and were able to change our GS assignment (note there was only one other GS available when we called).
  7. Good to know... For 15Aug Allure which categories and what were your per-person bid amounts? And same question for those 19Sept Harmony pending & expired bids.
  8. Correction to my response above: "At that point three were listed as Expired..." (which means Rejected)
  9. Actually... We had four bids that all remained as Modify/Cancel until I checked again about 3 weeks before our sailing. At that point three were listed as Rejected, but the GS bid we really wanted was listed as Pending - we later found out we won that Pending bid a few days before sailing...
  10. Congrats! Pending is usually a good sign - glad your bid won!
  11. "Pending" is a good sign - we were at that status for weeks then received the confirmation email a few days before our 22Aug Allure sailing. Let us know if you win your bid!

  14. We booked last week for a cruise sailing on 5Apr because it was so inexpensive AND fit our vacation schedule over spring break here (my wife is a teacher). And received Carnival's email on 7Mar with that additional OBC incentive if we don't cancel... So as we voted we're going to wait & see how things transpire before that 31Mar decision deadline, but right now we're still planning to cruise. Just checked online and see that some stateroom inventory has opened up -not a lot, mostly suites in all classes (there was only one OV JS available when we booked. Come on free upgrade..! Let's go!
  15. Several airlines have announced waiving their change/cancellation fees for the time being -suggest checking your airline...
  16. Yep! We booked on 4Mar for a cruise sailing on 5Apr because it was so inexpensive AND fit our vacation schedule over spring break here (my wife is a teacher). And just received Carnival's email this morning with an additional OBC incentive if we don't cancel... Let's go!
  17. Carnival Vacation Protection does have a cancel for any reason clause -you can cancel up to 48hrs prior to sailing for 75% credit applied to a future cruise. Here is a summary of their policy, note the cancel for any reason clause at the top of the page - http://affinitytravelcert.com/document/pdfs/CCL_Landing.html According to our PVP at Carnival, discussed prior to their just-announced cancellation policy update, previously if you cancel for any reason then that Future Cruise Credit will be calculated as follows: - 75% Cruise Rate paid (i.e. the cruise-only portion of the total amount paid) - 100% Taxes, Fees & Port Expenses - 100% Any other add-ons (e.g. Wifi Pkg, Shore Excursions, etc) EXCEPT the cost of Vacation Protection* *You forfeit the cost of the Vacation Protection, since that's why you buy their travel insurance HOWEVER, I'm not sure what happens under Carnival's new cancellation policy -I assume the Vacation Protection from the cancelled cruise would be transferred to the new booking. I have a message out to our PVP -we'll see what she comes back with...
  18. FYI Cruise Critic just posted full details for new cruise line cancellation policies here - https://www.cruisecritic.com/news/5151/
  19. FYI Cruise Critic posted full details for Carnival's (and other cruise lines) new cancellation policies here - https://www.cruisecritic.com/news/5151/ Just received that email from Carnival at 02:33am PST this morning Sat 7Mar. We booked on 4Mar for a cruise sailing on 5Apr because it was so inexpensive AND fit our vacation schedule over spring break here (my wife is a teacher), and purchased Carnival's vacation protection for the option to cancel without cause up to 48hrs prior to sailing. So... I'll have to call and find out how Carnival's new cancellation policy will work if we decide to re-book. I'm guessing that vacation protection plan would just carry over to the future cruise...
  20. UPDATE: Received an email notification around 8pm EDT last night (night before our sailaway) that our bids on a GS-1bdrm & OS were unsuccessful... But no worries, as we're on board now and happy with our Spacious Oceanview Balcony!
