  1. This thread from a few years ago identifies the manufacturer of the princess luxury bed as sherwood. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2377812-new-princess-beds/#comment-51140922 There was also a poster who went to a sherwood dealer, and got a mattress with the same specs (but no princess name) and was happy. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2591224-princess-bedding/ Sleeping, like tipping, is a very personal matter.
  2. The whole day ?!?!? I'm glad I read this. February with / without a 29 is hard enough! 🙂 <-- for the humor impaired But seriously ... princess has announced and missed dozens of dates with regard to medallion / app / ships ready, etc.
  3. The funeral home that did the cremation put the ashes in the bag within the urn for me. When the environmental officer saw the pastic ... it looked like plastic to me, too. Plus, not a time to argue. My only thought was how can I get through this and not start crying,
  4. This went badly in two ways for us ... so I hope you can avoid. During boarding, security insisted on opening the urn. I am not kidding. They finally found some supervisor who was able to read the email from princess approving me bringing it on board. They had the environmental officer supervise the whole thing for us. A surprise to us: the ashes were in a plastic bag, which was inside the biodegradeable urn. No go. We had to smash the urn, dump the ashes from the plastic bag, and then discard the bag in the trash. Tossing the urn? Dealers's choice. Not the fault of princess. Who would expect plastic in a bio-degradeable urn?
  5. What's the advantage to the passenger of using the medallion for on-shore purchases? Any elite 10% discount? (which is probably gone even on ships...)
  6. I think it's great that so many customers have 'volunteered' to test the app for the global innovators. Very gracious of y'all.
  7. For software developers who develop applications... There are semi-fake credit card numbers. These have the correct check digits, etc. that an app usually verifies the card. Has anyone tried one of these? I am asking just for science, not suggesting that anyone do so.
  8. What do you do for the 5+ hours before boarding starts? On of the strangest things I have seen... One couple brought lawn chairs, and sat down outside the entry door around 09:00, so they would be 'first'. I don't know what you then do with your lawn chair...
  9. It looks like it was added in Android-10. Also, if you have a carrier locked phone, the carrier can decide if you can create a hotspot at all. This page has a nice description, and a nice picture. https://tunecomp.net/wi-fi-sharing-on-samsung-galaxy/
  10. Finally, some honesty from Princess. Coming soon? Nothing.
  11. I'm assuming the poster wants to connect using a laptop... A travel router or a phone hotspot can solve this this. Connect the travel router to princess wifi, and do the princess login. Have the travel router act as a hotspot. Configure the hotspot to be password protected. Connect the laptop to the travel router hot spot. This connection will be to a password protected hotspot ... because that's what you set up. That is all the laptop can see. The laptop will never know what kind of network connection the travel router has.
  12. I think the easiest way to get around this would be with a mobile hotspot /travel router. Connect travel router to ship wifi, and do princess login so that internet data is available at the router. Set up your travel router to host a hotspot, sharing the internet connection. When you set up the travel router, require a password to connect. Whatever your final device is ... laptop, tablet, another phone. ...those devices think they are connected to secure wifi, which requires a password. (because the travel router is presenting secure wifi, requiring a password).
  13. Your service provider can set whether you can create a mobile hotspot, if they wish. "Some phones can share Wi-Fi connection by tethering." ... from this document: https://support.google.com/android/answer/9059108?hl=en I'm pretty sure I can share wifi with Samsung S8, S8+ and Note 10. I also have pretty high end google pixel. I don't kow if it can share a wifi connection. I might have to investigate. Mrs. Roberto is super had of hearing, and the pixel has the best live captioning. ...so she can caption phone calls, or even room convesation.
  14. A couple summers ago, I stayed for a few weeks at a common international brand hotel. Although internet access was free for me at my loyalty level, down loading movies was really slow in my room. Borrowing the printer network cable in the business center gave downloads that were about 10x as fast. I just needed a ethernet adapter, so I could download directly to my tablet.
  15. Many current phones have the ability to share their wifi connection. Turn off mobile data. Connect to wifi. Create mobile hotspot with password. In the old days, most phones could only share their mobile data connection. Two different things. Does the wifi require a password simply to connect? I think that is what the requirement you refer to is talking about. Once you connect to wifi, you may be able to do free things, as well as things with cost. For instance, in a hotel, once you connect to their wifi, you may be able to access their reservation system for free. But, to connect to the internet, you may need an additional password.
  16. Maybe you can scrounge around and find a hard-wired connection. At 2:00, check the printers and manager's PC in the internet cafe. As you are already onboard, it's too late, but a travel router might solve this the next time.. If you have a phone that can host a mobile hotspot which connected to wifi, that might work, too. mobile hotspot can also be called one of my favorite oxymorons: wireless tethering
  17. After thinking about it, Barty (Barrington) Brown went to P&O at about the same time, too. I think he has passed away. May he rest in peace.
  18. https://www.princess.com/html/global/personalizer/ssv/beverages/coffee-and-soda-package-disclaimer/ Excludes beverages offered via vending machines, but includes Coke Freestyle machines where available (coming soon). As I would have said in my formative, sarcastic years ... true ... for large values of soon. The freestyle announcement was more than 5 years ago, with no Freestyle machines spotted yet. But, check back 'soon'! I drink a lot of soda ... but $23 / day ?!?!?!
  19. He and Alistair Greener left Princess and went to P&O around the same time.
  20. Extra points for each OSHA violation you can find!
  21. We were at princess cay, and fortunately came back to the ship at lunch time. There was a severe storm forecast for the afternoon. Even by the time we got back, they were running the thrusters full-tilt boogie to try and maintain a lee. We went up to the lido, and every plate there was rattling from the thrusters. Anyway, about 1:30 they had to stop tendering, because it was too rough to get people off the tenders and onto the ship. Somewhere, I have a picture of the pontoon completely awash. After about a 2-hour delay they resumed tendering, and we left a little late for ft. lauderdale. That was when we heard about people being left behind on princess cay. Same situation ... too tough to get the people safely onboard. They landed blankets and food for the people still ashore... And, despite the endless posts that they ship will never leave you behind on a ship sponsored tour... The ship left. Bernie Warner was driving, just before he left for P&O...
  22. I don't want to malign houston + galvaston... But orlando get more than 74 million visitors per year... So, only a tiny percentage have to go to port Canaveral. I don't think houston gets quite as many visitors...
