  1. Thanks everyone for the replies! One more question. Our flight arrives at 12 noon, check in is at 4pm. What does one do with your bags while waiting for check in.

Our flight arrives at 1:30 also. I guess we will head over to the the hotel and maybe they will hold our bags until check in. Still trying to decide between the Embassy and El San Juan, we have even looked at the Conrad which is closer to Old San Juan. Decisions, decisions.....:)

The most hotels keep your bags until the room is ready. Then you can enjoy the facilities or go for a walk.

  2. Snappleman I am trying and practicing but my husband and I will probably only need a few sentences. Deux bières, s'il vous plait. Un autre pour la table, s'il vous plait. Combien coûte ? Merci. As long as he gets an ice cold island beer he will be happy.

Cruise Critic should have the Like button! :D

  3. Thanks Argentinita,

Tried your same approach for Priceline and won La Concha for $105.00 plus taxes= $120.30 for Feb. 2 to Feb. 3. Ordinarily, I would have bid only for a resort but La Concha on Priceline is listed as a 4 star, not a resort. Strange too, because the full name on their website is La Concha, a Renaissance Resort. I am very happy with this win as some people have bid $150 and above for the "resort level" and have been denied on Priceline. La Concha gets great reviews. I have stayed at the Marriott Stellaris, Caribe Hilton and the Intercontinental so am looking forward to staying at the La Concha. Sally

I too was surprised ! I saw that some received les star hotels for much more than that price!

I was looking for a good hotel on the beach and saw that all Resort and 4 * had access to the beach. So I put minimum 4 * on my bid.

Very happy, since I read good reports and saw beautiful photos!

  5. I first booked via the Hertz UK website, during all my research for car hire at the port Hertz was the only one I could find with an office there.

Although I booked via the uk site i emailed the local office in guadeloupe to confirm they had recieved my reservation, they replied within a day confirming all details and they also asked if i required the extra all risk insurance.

    Hello!

I also do a little research and discover that is the only company with offices in the port.

In that time you must return the vehicle? Because on their website says it opens at 4:30 pm. At that time we should be all aboard!

  6. Okay fellow CC poster's; why is there so little info on this port? Do most of you stay on the ship? I have done my research, and I do not feel comfortable with winging it on my own in this port; too many negatives about rental cars, taxi drivers, and almost nil info on reputable tour guides; does anyone at all have any info about the RC excursion "on your own at St. Ann's"? The excursion states it is only four hours, which isn't hardly any time, but in my research I found that there are beautiful beaches there, including Plage de la Caravelle, which looks to be within walking distance of the town. Okay, so I am declaring a challenge to all you posters to give us the scoop on what you know about this port stop; I am not one to give up and one to stay on the ship; help all us who want to know!

Yes, it is a new stop. And it is the second port of embark (I think it is for European passengers).

The first departure begin in the month of November.

We must see that news brings the first passengers visiting the island!
