  1. From the Red Hook ferry terminal, it's still a half mile walk to the cruise terminal?
  2. You can always walk around the Brooklyn Bridge Park! That's what our plan is and then we can take the ferry down to Red Hook which is right next to the cruise terminal.
  3. I ended up filing a claim with my travel insurance. I booked it independent of the cruise and added cancel for any reason coverage so hopefully they'll cover the cost of the museum tickets. I was able to get a refund on our SuperShuttle to the Manhattan port. I took someone's suggestion and booked a car service through Carmel to get us from LGA to the Brooklyn Bridge Park where we will spend a few hours before boarding the cruise ship. Ended up being less than $50. And then our new plan for disembarkation day is to take a couple of buses to the Prospect Park Zoo before doing the Carmel car service again to get back to LGA.
  4. I'll have a carry-on and my husband and stepson will each have a backpack. Intrepid says you keep bags with you. I'm going to call my travel insurance tomorrow and see if I can get reimbursed the cost of the tickets and instead find stuff to do in Brooklyn.
  5. Yes that's what I'm being told. Luckily we had already picked the 1:30-2:00 embarkation time so now we have until 3:30-4:00 to be on the ship. Landing at 9:30am, I'm hoping we'll still be able to make the Intrepid Museum work.
  6. Yes, I'm pretty disappointed. We've never cruised out of NY and this will probably be our only one as we are from the south. We had also already booked a Super Shuttle from the airport to the Manhattan Terminal and tickets to visit the Intrepid Museum next to the Manhattan Terminal. Luckily with the delayed embarkation we can still make it work but we now have an additional transportation fee to take care of. And we also already booked tickets to go to the top of the One World Observatory the day we get back to NY which again now has double the transportation cost because of the terminal change.
  7. I agree. It's only a month out so they have to know people have already booked transportation to the pier. I find it hard to believe that they are just now finding out or that the decision was only just now made to start construction.
  8. Carnival has changed our cruise terminal from NYC to Brooklyn for our September cruise. Does anyone know how long and how much the taxi fare might be to get from one cruise terminal to the other? We already pre-booked tickets to go to the Intrepid Museum next to the original terminal and I'm just curious what we might can expect cost-wise for taxi fare. We would take the subway but it doesn't go near the Brooklyn terminal.
  9. For you seasoned NYC cruisers, our plan was to go to one of the top decks during sail away to get a view of the city (and Statue of Liberty). Will that change with the terminal change? Or should we just enjoy ourselves on our balcony?
  10. Looks like we'll now have to be one of the first off the ship because we've already booked tickets to go to the top of the One World Observatory and now have a much longer taxi ride to get there. And instead of taking the subway to the airport and saving money that way, we might end up having to take a taxi again.
  11. Can you tell me what the easiest way to get to the top of the water slides is? I'm looking at the deck plans and it's not making a lot of sense. It seems to me you have to walk through cabin hallways to the forward most elevators and take those from Deck 10 to Deck 14. So you're sloshing water everywhere. I don't see a way to get there otherwise from the pool area.
  12. Ok, good. That will make packing significantly easier since we will stick to carry-on sized luggage only. So carry-on plus maybe a small backpack as the personal item.
  13. Thank you, this has been very helpful. My husband and son are very much shorts, t-shirts, and sandals kind of people. I'll probably just have them each pack 1 pair of jeans (since they'd only wear them at dinner) and a nicer shirt and be done with it. That would be fine right? Or do they also need to pack a pair of shoes in addition to their sandals? It's easy for women because I can just wear a sundress and be done.
  14. Yes, I wouldn't be bringing my son to the Serenity area with me.
