  1. I gave up trying to get a table for 6 at 150 on my upcoming Harmony cruise in August - no matter what I did, no table of 6, but I did manage to book a table for 4, and plan to go to I50 as soon as I board to get my table of 6... and Yes, I do know that they do tables of 6, since I was at one last May on Harmony!

I also noticed that when dining first opened, the times available were just 5:30 and 9, but I waited a few days, and got the time and date I wanted (for my table of 4 at 150).

As for your Adult only meal question?? It would depend if you have any picky-eaters, if no, then Wonderland, it truly is an experience, but 150 CP is just divine, and why I chose to have my last meal on board there!

    Good luck and Happy Sailing!

  2. Last year when I walked onto the Harmony, after being on both the Allure and the Oasis beforehand, I was AMAZED and called other family back home and BOOKED while on last Spring's May cruise for this AUGUST again on Harmony!!

There is NOTHING wrong with going on Harmony again, I'm sure you didn't see it all, I know I didn't on my first week!!

Happy sailing - and Welcome to the cruise addiction!

  3. "if it's too loud, then you are TOO OLD!"

No, in all seriousness - aren't we ALL there to have a good time, on vacation and enjoy ourselves??? If we are talking LOUD, vulgar, profane music then by all means it shouldn't have to be broadcast for the entire ship to hear. BUT by no means should personal speakers be banned/put on the naughty list.

Should fellow cruisers be considerate??? - OF COURSE, will they ALL be, OF COURSE NOT!

Playing music on a bluetooth speaker on your balcony at a respectable volume should be fine in during the day - playing it at night, especially after dinner should be the biggest No-No. Acting like a fool and dancing like no one is watching on your balcony, sounding like a herd of elephants should also be a No-No.

There is a thing called RESPECT and hate to say it, but there is a decline of it all over and not just while on vacation.

  4. Choosing to do TWO formal nights or ANY formal nights is UP TO YOU!!! I didn't see ANYWHERE that it's enforced or mandatory and certainly the captain isn't going to make you walk the plank if you don't dress up!

and YES, everyone has their own definition of FORMAL night - Some might look elegant, while others say I'm not going to wear a tux, but I might also not wear shorts on FORMAL night.

On my future family cruise this August, we have ALL opted to just do ONE formal night together as a family - on the other night, we will NOT go to the MDR to be "those people".

  5. One habit we have gotten into, if it's available, is to book a Specialty Lunch the day of boarding. We always fly in the day before and stay over and board early, and having a quiet relaxing lunch at Jamie Oliver's for example is WAY BETTER than the disaster at Windjammer. Best way (in my opinion) to board and also enjoy the specialty dining.

Great suggestion RaleighDavid -i'll have to ask the crew that I'm going with - They are leaning on us alot since we have done the Harmony before, and I suggested almost every specialty restaurant already.... We already have it planned to stay FAR away from the WJ, as I know to avoid it like the plague, but the others are Royal Loyals, who haven't cruised in awhile and LOVE the WJ.

Also wanted to thank you for sharing your recent cruise adventure with us all. Glad you have a great vacation!

  6. for my upcoming August Harmony I booked specialty dining for my first night since over the years I have learned that MTD is a disaster the first night, no matter what Oasis class ship I've been on.

I'm going with newbies to the Oasis class, why would I want the first night to be a disaster? That's no way to start a vacation!

Interesting about the security - wonder if it had to do with the summer months and the more children on board... But I know I've never seen security before on board - I'll be on the lookout for them myself.

and Yes, if children are running around the adult area solarium with no pool, TELL security!!!

  7. To me, like others have said, I put it on in the morning and watch, kinda like putting on the morning news at home!!! I might be doing other things, but it's on in the background.

From the suggestion boxes down on the promenade, I have sent Happy Anniversary wishes to my in-laws on board and it's fun to try and catch it on the show!!

To me, since I watch the morning TV while getting ready to start my day, it brings normalcy even while at sea!

Also another one getting the vote for Abe on Harmony!!

  8. Cruised last year on Harmony in May and didn't get to watch any of the NHL action... Used the laptop and was streaming from the NHL web site, which I found to be the best option.

Also found it EXTREMELY difficult to get scores off of ESPN as they use the international channel and well hockey isn't as HUGE as it is to us here in North America!

and yes - GO KNIGHTS GO!!!! - love that Cinderella story and TOTALLY wish I would have put even 10 bucks last year on them to win it all in their 1st season!!!

    Enjoy your cruise!!!

  9. Sailed Harmony last May - such a wonderful ship we're doing it again this August. We didn't pre-purchase the photo package chose to just do it onboard, with that said, my advise on the photo stations is go early and review what you want and decide what you want during the quieter daytime hours towards the end of the cruise... All in all, when we went on the last night, we knew what we wanted and were helped in a matter of 10 minutes.

    Have a great time!

  10. There are hot tubs on the pool deck 15 and they are not open 24/7. I have not noticed the times but have seen people in them as early as 8 am and up to 6-7pm.

There are hot tub in and just outside the Solarium on deck 15 forward as well and I was in one early am by 7 am in the Solarium. They are also not open 24/7 but open earlier than the ones on the pool deck.

Last May on the Harmony - the cantilevered hottubs (the ones just outside the solarium) seemed to have the most 'open' hours. Open early and I remember a few late night dips in it myself, even as late as midnight/1am. One side will be closed, but the other side will be open.

  11. If the decision is based on food, please do 150CP - While Wonderland is fun, some of it may not be to your liking. 150CP has a simple elegance I will say, and I found it be more romantic for my own anniversary dinner last year on Harmony. Plus, add in the beef tenderloin for 2, some cucumber martinis and I'd say a perfect 20th Anniversary dinner!

(I'm a 1/2 way picky eater, I left Wonderland full, and did enjoy my meal, enough to book it again this year - BUT, overall I think 150CP is just better!)

...also, you may be able to get just dessert at Wonderland on another night, ask when you get onboard at Wonderland.... Sometimes it never hurts to ask!;)

    Happy Cruising and Happy Anniversary!!

  12. Took photos for last years Harmony cruise to only have to take them again at the terminal when we arrived...

Yesterday, did my online check in for this summer's Harmony cruise with NO PHOTOS and was told my online check is is complete.

Will it make a difference - probably not, I was delayed about for about 90 seconds last year when they had to take the photo again... NOT a dealbreaker!!

  13. I can now say I meet an idol from my childhood on Harmony of the Seas. Many may not remember him especially if you are not from the philly area or a hockey fan, but we meet Bernie Parent, who tended goal for the Philadelphia Flyer back in the 70’s and won two Stanley Cups with the Flyers!

He was absolutely gracious and posed for pictures with several of us.

We did not want to intrude, more than we did but he was very nice and took time to indulge my fanboyism until Mrs S. dragged me away.

Pictures sent back home to family and friends who are all big fans of the Flyers and Bernie as well. Nice topping on a beautiful day!
