  1. I use Sawyer's too. It treats your existing wardrobe and washes out easily after a few wearings. If you are heading further south like to Rio or Buenos Aires I have noticed that the ladies don't wear a lot of white during their summers.
  2. We went through the Canal in February on the Marina and used the old locks. O ships are not big enough to use the new locks and they certainly don't need to spend the $$$$$$.
  3. Would a south bound itinerary work if sailing Celebrity? Hubbard Glacier is best experienced after the morning fog has disappeared and that means sailing from Seward south. There are also some itineraries that substitute Sitka. If given a choice I'd also do the Millie. The aft (stern) cabins on deck 11 are the absolute best for wake and nature watching. They are Aqua class cabins and book up quickly. My favorite is 1140. The best whale watches are from both Juneau and Icy Straits.
  4. Please take into consideration the fluid nature of Covid 19. We are heading back in a coupe of months and as Shella73 posted those are the same requirements I checked today on the Chilean and Argentinian official websites and mirrored by the US embassies in both countries. Be prepared and check the official websites a few days before you travel. Things can change quickly.
  5. You might contact the Captain's Club and request the helipad experience. If it is available on your sailing they can probably get you an invitation.
  6. If you can get in touch with Bruce do so. He has done this many times and O will make it a very engaging interlude.
  7. And when are you traveling? The majority of the problems earlier this year were more prolonged in European airports. Atlanta shouldn't be an issue.
  8. There are also two ironing boards, a folding table and sometimes baskets.
  9. We are rather experienced cruisers and are itinerary driven. Yes the regular balcony cabins are small. The bathrooms are even smaller BUT the itineraries are why we sail. The unique itineraries, the overnights and the onboard ambiance are the lines strongest selling points. We haven't been on Azamara since Covid but will be back onboard in the spring. We also sail Oceania and the key to booking your first sailing is to find one of their preferred or connoisseur agents who can demystify the booking process. Oceania also sails R class ships with the same construction as Azamara plus two larger ships with a third type sailing in '23. We've sailed other lines but not Viking. Viking has static itineraries, no children, and no casino. You can take cruise line tours on Azamara and Oceania of course. We always research our ports and book independent excursions. In 35+ years of cruising we have only booked a handful of ships excursions. Because of the smaller passenger counts the A and O excursions tend to be for fewer passengers too. Find a cruise travel agent who knows both lines. Book and enjoy......................
  10. Check out Dora the Explorer. She's the best known tour guide in Cartagena and she really has an incredible staff leading her tours.
  11. The Marriott is not the newest hotel in Copenhagen but it's quite nice. They used to have the most incredible brunch buffet. We haven't been there in a while but the rooms are large and comfortable which cannot be said for some of the other hotels we have stayed at in the city. The Palace is also in a good location and it's an easy walk to many of the museums, restaurants and charms of the central city. Be sure to take a canal cruise so you can get a feel for the old and new.
  12. We were on the third sailing of the Zenith. She was shiny and new and we met lifelong friends.....such wonderful memories.
  13. Of all the things to worry about luggage tags should be your last. Just get the tags when you hand over your luggage.
  14. Other cruise lines call it country club casual or something like that. I had to laugh because I am so old I remember the days of tuxes and true ball gowns. We used to sail with 2 overseas bags each. Thank goodness those days, while very special, are gone.
  15. There are lounge chairs both on the open deck and under the balcony on the deck above. The hot tubs are open to the sky. As the sun moves additional areas will be more shaded as each wonderful day passes. I'm sure you can find images of the pool deck. Also check out the deck plans so you get a better idea of the ship's structure.
  16. The smoking lounge is an interior space which can easily be avoided by entering the Horizon Lounge on the starboard side. The outdoor area (port side)can be avoided by entering the pool area via the starboard entrance. The pool deck area (exterior) is adjacent to the art studio (an interior space) which can be entered via the starboard door and crossing over via the elevator lobby.
  17. Which airline? Most have a View Seats function along with flight details or notes.
  18. While you may not have full access to your new cabin ask your steward or butler if you can get access to the safety deposit box immediately. It shouldn't be a problem and you won't have to carry off your valuables if you do have to disembark.
  19. We might be neighbors and ROLL TIDE. Even if you bleed orange and blue I still want to put my two cents in. You mentioned their budgetary concerns. There is no class system on O like you have experienced in The Haven or The Retreat on X. If they would like to procure a more modest cabin they would, for the most part, be able to experience everything you do. The shows are at 9:30 so your evenings would be full. On sea days there will be plenty to do. Not to worry. I think your friends would be more comfortable flying with you. They can easily book the same flights you do without the hassle of O air. Even your travel agent can help them if they need a hand to hold. If you are on a 767 they might be just as comfortable in Economy Comfort as Premium Select. You don't need to use O hotels either. Once again a good travel agent can help. A quick look through Trip Advisor or any on line booking agent can also give you guidance. Let your spreadsheet finesse work for you. The same goes for airport to hotel and hotel to ship transfers. Many have mentioned cuisine. Think in terms of Highlands, Gianmarco, or Automatic Seafood with more modest menus. We will all try to help.
  20. If it were me I'd want to concentrate on a more private tour AND staying anywhere but the La Rambla corridor. The airport is about 20-25 minutes from the center and even if you stay north on the Diagonal you can still enjoy the city and tour until the evening. (We are waiting to book La Sagrada Familia at dusk. The light coming through the stained glass windows is reported to be a thriller.) Check out the Destinations board - Spain for recommendations. Trip Advisor is also a good resource. Wish you had more time there but enjoy what you can.
  21. There is no need to stress over the tags. Porters at the pier have tags.
  22. If all else fails you can easily find guides via the Ports of Call board here on CC. Trip Advisor, Tours by Locals, Viator and many more have options in each port. The local small company or independent guides really need the bookings.
  23. An aft is the absolute best location for Alaska and we're doing it again. We selected our Alaska cruises by aft cabin location along with date. We wouldn't do it any other way. We have also been there in September and were prepared for any type of weather with waterproof shoes and clothing. We didn't let an occasional shower stop us. Have a great cruise.
  24. Access to Persian Gardens applies to all Aqua class cabins. The Prime cabins are in a "prime" location. There is no difference in cabin size although if you study the deck plan there may be Aqua cabins with different sized balconies. We have been on the Solstice but it was before those A - 1 cabins were converted to "Prime." I don't know how they reassigned the cabins.
