  1. The one time we booked a guarantee cabin we were assigned the most forward cabin in the category. Our TA was able to get it changed to a different cabin towards the aft. I just saw a new thread where someone stated that they were told today that they cannot move cabins after assignment.
  2. Not recently. This may be another post-Covid change. Never hurts to try again.
  3. I also saw the cheaper rate earlier today. I have noticed in the past that sometimes these low rates return in a day or two. I assume it may be due to folks putting a hold on a cruise, but not following through with the booking.
  4. To Oceania's credit, they are one of the few cruise lines to include all taxes, fees and port expenses in their advertised prices.
  5. Definitely better on S class. We usually book Aqua, so have never paid for access.
  6. Same thing onboard. If you book a specialty restaurant, there is 18% added on top of the charge to book the restaurant. I am not sure why it is 20% online.
  7. We had a similar experience at Heathrow. The agents were very particular about how much liquids were allowed. There was one lady ahead of me who kept trying to fit her hair gel in the small bag, but it would not fit, and she had to throw it away. I had my own problem, since hydrogen peroxide had leaked onto some of my toiletries, so I had to throw out any items it had leaked on.
  8. In the past, I was able to change to a different cabin in the same category after my guarantee cabin was assigned.
  9. There is no charge for continental breakfast. I am not sure which items are considered to be part of a continental breakfast.
  10. So for $11.74 you can get it via RS, but not for free in the MRD.
  11. Not only are they staples, you could also say they are (or were) Classics. 😀
  12. I just learned this week about getting the cruise only fare vs. the fare with one OLife perk. I had received quotations from 5 different TAs and only one quoted me without the OLife perk. He told me some TAs do not tell their customers about deleting the OBC perk, since the TA gets commission on the price of the perk.
  13. We finally made Elite Plus, and really enjoy the free specialty coffee and tea at Al Bacio. We got by fine without a drink package on our recent cruise. I was able to drink all I wanted/needed at the Elite happy hour, as well as collect enough bottled water for drinking in the cabin.
  14. I checked with my travel agent, and he confirmed that the Extraordinary sale is not combinable with the four category upgrade. So I am sticking with the Extraordinary sale deal.
  15. Does anyone know if the four category upgrade is combinable with the Extraordinary Savings fare deal? When I tried to do a mock online booking, 18 different fares came up for the same category stateroom. There were separate fares listed for Extraordinary Savings vs. Memorial Day sale, with the Memorial day sale being priced much higher. As such, I suspect they are not combinable.
  16. We were on the last cruise before a dry dock about 6 years ago. The cruise ended in Singapore, and we took a shore excursion that ended up back at the port. When we arrived back at the port, the area was deserted, since no one was there to board the next cruise, and it was difficult to get a taxi to our hotel. We did not notice any work beginning on the ship during the cruise.
  17. I had a bad experience when a large corporation took over half the ship. I personally would pass on the Hicks cruise. Abraham Hicks is the name of a non-physical entity that is channelled by Esther Hicks. Their teachings are said to be about the law of attraction. Esther describes them as “a group of non-physical entities who present themselves as Abraham, and who speaks through a process known as channelling.”
  18. Thanks for the information. When we were on Marina, the laundry we used only had an opening on one side. We were not in a Concierge cabin, so we did not check out the concierge lounge.
  19. We could have used some overalls last time we were in Santorini. It was windy and raining, and the cable car was closed when we were ready to return to the ship. The walk down the donkey path was slippery and had many donkeys and donkey droppings along the way. We learned that donkeys never yield the right of way.
  20. We are trying to pick a cabin on deck 9 on Riviera, and saw a review that mentioned it can be noisy along the starboard side near the Concierge lounge and laundry. Is the entrance to the Concierge lounge on the port or starboard side? Is the entrance to the laundry area on deck 9 on the port or starboard side? Thanks for this information.
  21. I am not sure if this is still the case, but pre-Covid, you could upgrade after final payment, as long as your new cabin category is was priced higher than you paid for your old cabin category. We were once able to move from an Aqua class cabin to a Suite for only about $200 per person when there was a price decrease following final payment.
  22. None of the pre-E class ships had Luminae when initially built. It was added to the ships later.
  23. I have a hold on a cruise on Riviera for later this year, and have read all recent reviews of Riviera and Marina. I am also concerned about the many negative recent reviews on both ships. Some of the negative reviews for Riviera were due to the ship missing the stop in Bermuda. However, many reviews rated the food as not so good, which is a concern to me, especially since Oceania claims to have the finest cuisine at sea. We sailed on the Marina about 9 years ago, and thought the food was generally good. However, we did not believe it was worth the premium over Celebrity and HAL. However, with the Extraordinary Savings fares now being offered, Oceania prices are comparable to Celebrity and HAL for similar sailing we looked at. As such, we are thinking about going with Oceania for our next cruise.
  24. Some of the sailings also have a senior/resident rate available. On one cruise I looked at in November, there was good pricing on Concierge class. When I looked at cabin availability, most of the cabins were available, so bookings appear to be slow. I also noticed lower prices and senior discounts on some Reflection sailings in October.
  25. So if I show up at about 2:00 pm and stand outside looking hungry, I may get fed? This is what my neighbor’s cat does, and it works sometimes.
