I would comment on the fact that you are not supposed to use electronic devices while the plane is taking off but I just had to get a picture of Oasis from the air as we were leaving FLL so I will just keep my mouth shut!:D:D
Nice shots!
Well we didn't crash did we? :p
I've taken tons of pictures from airplanes, and haven't died once!

Got some more fun pics from Port Everglades! My flight took off from FLL yesterday afternoon right around 5:00, and the ships were on the move!
Here's the Liberty OTS backing out of Terminal 25.
The Zuiderdam was making her way through the inlet as well.
I was very jealous of all those thousands of people onboard. The water was SO BLUE and looked like glass. Can't wait till my next cruise!

Booked 8652!
Thanks for all the help, sully108, will773, Ocean Boy and Familygoboston!
I think you made the right choice! Enjoy your cruise!
-
Well, I don't get it. 8650 is clearly the right side of a connecting pair. But I guess it is what it is.
Ok, here's the way I see it. Since both of these cabins connect to a suite, the whole left side right side thing goes out the window. That is because the suites don't have different configurations (except for mirror imaging). So, that leaves two regular balcony cabins cabins. They way they normally "fit together" is for the one on the left to have the bed by the closet, while the one on the right has the bed by the balcony. This way, their "bulging" areas where the beds are fit nicely together to make a rectangle. Think about what it would look like the other way! bad use of space!
-
OOPS! I had it wrong before! 8650 should have the bed by the closet. Sorry, Familygoboston, you were right!
-
I hate to disagree with my good friend from Boston but you have it backwards. The right side of the pair is balcony and the left side of the pair is closet.
Yep, sorry to disagree, Boston, but Ocean Boy is right! :)

I would love to watch the Oasis sail out on next year's cruise, but that access just would not be possible for me and a couple others in our group. Walking a short ways on an even surface would be ok, though. I hear there is a viewing area on the 17th Street bridge? How is that in comparison?
Can't comment on the bridge, but going down to the beach was definitely a lot of walking! My grandmom was pooped! :D

Here's the whole thing. Hope it helps!

Here's the whole map. The ending location is where you can find some parking.
-
LOL okay I understand now:).. no not really sure how to get there. Let me know.
Okay, so I'm going to assume you know how to get to the 17th Street bridge...
When you go across it, the road kind of bares off to the left a little bit. You have to turn right on to Mayan Dr, and then right onto S Ocean Dr. You then have to turn left onto Barbara Dr, and that kind of turns back into S Ocean Dr.
The whole area is filled with "member only" residences and high rise condo buildings. We were very confused where we were supposed to go. On S Ocean Dr, there is some public parking, maybe 10-15 spaces, but it was all filled up when we were there. We just parked in one of the private spaces (My grandpop said that somebody came over and asked what he was doing there, and then a cop showed up. Nothing happened though.)
Now you have to walk. A lot. You have to go down a diagonal street that runs right next to one of those big buildings, and it doesn't really look like you'll be able to get anywhere. There was a gated road that looked like it was some sort of back maintenance entrance to the building, and right next to it was a little black fence and alleyway that leads down to the beach. It says public beach access so you can definitely go down! It's a pretty long alley and takes you down to the beach and you then have to go to the right all the way down to the rocks. It's pretty far.
Hope that all makes sense. I'll post a pic from Google Maps.

Oh yes sure do know how to get there:)..have left many a pink boa feather on that public balcony after waving to the cam from there many times.:D
I'm talking about the beach! :p We were very confused yesterday!

Nice photos from a great location. This is on my 'to do' list in about 3 weeks when I am in Fort Lauderdale for my Allure cruise. :) maybe on the day before so I can see Lady O leave:)
You know how to get there, right? It's pretty complicated and confusing to reach!
-
I was on the beach yesterday watching the Noordam leave port. Here are some of my pictures:
It was so much fun! I wish there would have been more ships in port!
-
I stayed at Embassy Suites last June before boarding the Allure. It was a very nice hotel, and was so close to the port! I could see the ships leaving from our room!

Friends found false teeth under the bed.

eeewwww!!!!!!!

Will- you've sailed Allure...did I see in the photos tha there is also a lit up clock that is part of that iPod dock? That would be sweet! That's one of my cruising peeves...I like to know what time it is when I awaken, without having to awaken so much to look at a watch or lift the phone off its receiver!;) That way if it's still too early, I can close my one eye and drift back off!:p
There is a clock, but I can't remember if it lit up or not. It's not your typical iHome, it is long and has a slot on each side, so can hole 2 devices at once.
-
Really? If the same, why the difference? Does anyone know?
Probably enough complaints. It's definitely an improvement.
-
How about cabin 7330 on The Allure ;) and if you know, I see the hallway ends. Where would the door to enter be ???? Thanks
I'm not sure about this one, as it's a family cabin and is larger than normal. It's also sideways...
-
Okay hopefully last time I have to ask this question (but, I called RCCL and even they don't know the cabin layouts- they have to ask someone onboard and have someone call me back. So, you are amazing!)
So, after calling today they said they only have 7 cabins left in my category and I choose cabin #8530. I am hoping this time the bed is next to closet....so...rolling the dice here...am I a lucky winner this time????
Closet! WOOHOO! :D
-
Yay. I was right. If I would have stopped second guessing myself, I would have had that settled days ago! :o
Thanks for the help!:)
I am actually happy that its by the closet because it'll extend our living area with the balcony right there next to the couch.
There ya go! Different people like different things!
-
Am I right that 11323 would have the bed by the closet on Oasis?
I am thoroughly confusing myself!:o
Yep! Closet! It's not too confusing, is it? :)
-
I would think the opposite. I would think that it's by passenger. I'm pretty sure that RCCL pays Haiti around $6 for every passenger that goes to Labadee. I'm sure other ports are the same way. If it were a set amount per ship, there would be no local benefit of the mega ships.
-
What about Oasis 14196? I think it's by the closet.
Yep, closet.
-
Hmmmm.... we are in agreement.
Woop Woop...We da bomb! :p :D
