  1. The sofa makes into a twin bed. We took a cruise on this ship in 2018 with our adult daughter and really...there was not enough room for the three of us.
  2. Ya know, I do remember there being Bingo activities, so they must have them.
  3. When and where are you flying?
  4. “Inconsistency” is definitely the word. On our British Isles Cruise in June aboard the Royal, my husband, daughter, and I each had two bottles of wine to take aboard at embarkation. We were prepped to pay the corkage fee for the extra bottle each. There was no station at security and checkin to report the wine. I actually asked about it and was told that they really don’t have the time or manpower to worry about it at embarkation. So we hauled it all on at no extra cost. My husband found a bottle he really liked in Belfast, and again, was never charged for it when he carried it back aboard. I don’t know that that is the standard procedure but it was pretty lax on that cruise.
  5. What a great review! Sounds so far like it was a fabulous trip. We were on the June 6 BI cruise and loved it and loved the Royal! Can’t wait to read the rest; we’re living vicariously through your posts!
  6. I am so sorry but we did not pay attention to the sail in that morning. I wish we had, and not sure what we had going on, but we didn’t look to see if the cliffs were visible. Sent from my iPad using Forums

  8. I love that so many of the museums in England are free, or accessible with passes. And yes, you get your steps in when visiting. We have had nothing but good experiences with the people we met in our travels there. Westminster Abbey is the first thing we tell people they need to see when they ask us about touring London. It is so well set up, and the audio tour is perfect. Did you get to see the new gallery up in the renovated attic space? On September 9, 2015, we had just finished our tour of Westminster Abbey and had stepped outside, and the bells began ringing. It was an odd time, not on an hour, half hour, or quarter of an hour, just a seemingly random time. They rang and rang and rang, and finally we asked a Warden there why they were ringing and he said, and I think there were tears in his eyes, that it was the moment Elizabeth became the longest reigning monarch. It was moving and unexpected that we should experience that moment in that way, and it firmly lodged Westminster Abbey as a favorite place to visit, and a favorite memory. 9. We flew an economy airline, but got what basically were business class seats and it made a huge difference. Update on my knee...having incredibly minor, quick, in and out arthroscopic done on my knee this Thursday, because...I’m just done dealing with it. So glad you had a good time! What all did you do in London? Sent from my iPad using Forums
  10. As for us, our meeting time was 6:35, and they called us pretty promptly, and the bus will filled and pulling out of the port by 7:10ish. Sent from my iPad using Forums
  11. I really liked the Royal. It’s just huge. With the exception of the Allegro restaurant the layout is fine and accessible, and I enjoyed the food in the restaurant. It really was a wonderful vaycay...I hope yours is too! Where are you sailing? Sent from my iPad using Forums

    Sofa Bed

We just sailed on the Royal, in a Mini-suite, with our 26 year old daughter, and she slept on the sofa bed. I am not sure if they are all like this, but the bench part pulls out slightly, like a futon kind of. My daughter is 5’1 and I’m not sure she would have fit had she been much taller. It seemed cumbersome to make into the bed so we told our steward he didn’t need to mess with setting it up every night and putting it back to a sofa everyday, so it was kind of like a daybed.
