  1. A friend of mine was told that she would get hers back - she didn't. I'd just tell them it was lost.

..... this is what I was afraid my happen but.....

Do NOT declare it lost. It is expired and was issued more than 15 years ago. Your husband cannot apply by mail for a renewal, he will have to go through the same process as you do, appear in person and submit his documentation. If he would rather submit his BC than the old passport, that is fine. He should write the old passport number on the form where indicated, but he does not have to send it in as his proof of citizenship.

Old passports are returned in separate envelopes, usually a few days after the new passport has arrived. Occasionally they are lost, but a lot of people declare theirs was not returned when in fact it shows up a few days later and they fail to update everyone they already told.

I am encouraged by this, thank you cheryl&tk. Since I already had planned to go to local courthouse DH planned on coming in and applying together so this part works out, good advice and will do a follow up later.

This makes the trip to Australia a little more possible now too ;)

  2. Looked for appropriate forum and not sure where to post this but know that someone here will know answer and I thank you in advance.

I am applying for my first passport ever since we're doing a reposition cruise and no problem with mine.

My husband has had a passport in the past when he was a teenager, was issued in 1971 and has old pic and travel stamps and has memorabilia value to us and I'd rather not send it in with application if it won't be returned. Do they return old passports that have expired? If I mark on the form that it was lost or destroyed will that delay the process? I'd rather be honest but the thought of sending this one away to never see it again isn't settling well.

  3. Who has cruised the Dream In January before? Ive been told that it is never at full capacity , ( Kids back in school and such) I always cruised smaller ships in January and it was never over crowded never at full capacity either

    Thanks all!

Was on 1/5/13 Dream cruise, didn't really feel crowded to me but I don't know if it was sold out or not. I do know that while the temps were pretty nice we sure had some rough seas due to wind and missed Isla Roatan and Costa Maya and went to Nassau instead. Had a great time and like sailing in January.

  4. Confession. ..I didn't immediately know what a magic bullet was and imagined something rather more racy... and no, my mind isn't typically in the gutter! Glad there was a post describing it as a blender lol

Sent from my SGH-T889 using Forums mobile app

LOL, Clearly the discussion here is not about the same "Magic Bullet" as what I had in my mind, it took me a few posts to realize we're talking about a blender here. I was thinking why would it matter what toys were brought along?!! :D

  5. The Cloud 9 Steamrooms are wonderful, beautiful, relaxing, gorgeous, etc., etc. I was on Magic in a Cloud 9 stateroom in April - and we are booked again in September, can't wait!!! I really love the thelasso pool. In April, one night the seas were really rough and my sisters were in the pool, and it was heaving and splashing all over the place. They said it was better than a roller coaster and they had to hold on for dear life. They came back to the stateroom laughing and telling stories about their experience - I missed it, but it sounded like they had a really fun time.

Thanks for sharing that! I was on the Dream Jan. 5 and one of my favorite things about the cruise was the spa. I thought I might have been the only one that thought the rolling T-pool was fun. We missed 2 ports due to wind and had some pretty rough seas. It was so much fun holding on and getting splashed. They did close the pool a couple of times for short periods.... ha, they probably needed to refill it too. Loved the rest of the spa too.

  6. We have booked deck 11 on the Dream for the covered balcony as well. Anyone ever stayed in 11244? This will be our first Spa Cabin and can't wait -- 2 more weeks!!!!!

Have 11246 booked for Dec. cruise, bet we're going to love this location. Not under t-pool or workout room. We've got cabins directly above and below, covered balcony AND so close to all things spa.

In Jan we had cove and purchased spa package, we used the spa so much that I have decided being so close was going to be wonderful.

  7. Hmm, that is a little bit concerning to me. I don't know if he could do 10 stairs (maybe on a good day for him). It makes me think it is strange that they would sell handicap accessible SPA Cabins, but not make the SPA ammenities handicap accessible.

I'm a little late.... was looking at this thread again trying to make sure I haven't missed anything for two upcoming cruises and saw this post and wanted to share that there are also elevators that go to the spa deck without having to access the stairs, just a very short walk down the hall to the spa from there. I know because we had a cove balcony w/spa pass purchased and rode the elevators up and down every day. My old knees aren't that crazy about stairs nowadays either.

  8. I know that FTTF allows you to disembark early, but if you are in no rush to get off the ship, are you allowed to stay in your room a little later?

No, they still need to get the rooms turned over for the next guests so they need us all out by 8:30 am. Loved FTTF on the Dream.

  9. We have this room booked in Feb-2015 for the three of us. I booked it the day the dates were listed and was the first to purchase. If need be I'm hopping they will bump us last. When booking, it only shows up when putting three persons in the room. It's not available for double occupancy.

I've got 11204 booked on the Dream for 4/14 reposition cruise as a solo and just booked online as usual. Perhaps because I booked as soon as the reposition was open for booking?

Rockbock's review is what sold me on the room over my usual balcony. Not sure if I'll be HC then or not.... surgery in January'14, trying to get my personal nurse to join me if she can get the time off. Helps that she's family/ friend too. Great pics! Thanks for posting them.

  10. Jan. 2013 my DD and I had a wonderful Dream cruise. I wanted close to the water so we chose a cove balcony but knew ahead of time that we'd like some girl time up in the spa so decided prior to boarding that we'd get the weekly pass, we also purchased the FTTF for this cruise which was very nice. Since we knew ahead of time (sounds like you too) when we got on board we dropped off luggage, freshened up a bit and went straight up to the spa to purchase weekly pass, we didn't want to get shut out either. The spa was never crowded so have no idea how many passes they sell but I would definitely purchase asap so that you don't get shut out.

The spa staff was great and helpful, told them we were ready to purchase the passes, when they learned we were new to the Cloud 9 Spa they took us on a nice, quick tour and shared with us the faciilties that were about to be ours for a week.

  11. Don't really feel a 2 night CTN is a fair voyage to compare with longer Carnival voyages. On a CTN you will find everyone cramming in as much fun as possible in 48 hours.

I haven't sailed NCL yet but this was my first thought also. I'd still go on the 2 day for sure, weekend getaway, perfect.... just wouldn't make major decision about any cruiseline based on such a short cruise though. Have fun and give us at least a quickie review!

  12. You are all awesome! Thank you for the brainstorming! Chrisp414....this is my favorite compromise I think! DS is a teacher (very proud mamma here) so we could spend Labor Day with him if we fly in and out of Orlando. Might try to talk hubby into renting a convertible for the drive and do a costal drive adventure for a day.

Either cruise would work for me so no help there..... but I might reconsider getting a convertible car in the middle of August here in FL. It will be hot and muggy even at 3 am in the morning. The coastal drive would be fun though..... with AC!! :)
