  1. Yes you can, we always ask to sit alone. After 2 nights the mailer d knows. It is not like we are not social we simply like each other after 51 years of marriage. We would never sit with anyone we did not know simply the way we are. We have on many occasions eaten with people we meet but we love being alone together. Never any pressure to socialize on the ship. Happy Sailing
  2. Plus the Spirit seems to be going back. Tahiti yearns for sails in my unbiased opinion.
  3. They look great. Exciting. Brava Windstar. PS Still love the sails!
  4. It really depends where, example we did the Greenland trip last fall and had experts lecture. On the sea days there were 2 lectures each day on all things ice, photo presentations etc. It was terrific. They were incredible. Sea days in the Caribbean are normally quiet: dip in pool, read, gaze, hot tub, read, eat, gab totally relaxing. On crossings they have funny activities, games, trivia, cards, puzzles etc, bring good books and many people share books. There is always a variety. Your choice be social or do absolutely nothing, all good. Happy Sailing
  5. You are right, it simply made sense, because canceling 3 months out for a charter made no sense. I love WS 29 cruises and I put myself in their place: it will cost these folks more, Tahiti is difficult to get to certainly harder than Europe or the Caribbean, they looked forward to it, made plans, made reservations, took vacation time, they need some compassion here.
  6. Good research. So close in date, I agree with you. It is inappropriate. As far as airlines and distance we are not talking Caribbean, it is in the middle of the Pacific not easy to get to. I am sorry you will not get to experience all of WS positives. Whatever you decide I wish you the best.
  7. Yes we have, thanks for that. There are two things that got us started with WS Cruises, we adore being on the water, I have been sailing my entire life, lived in coastal MA my whole life except then I lived/ studied//worked in Europe. We do not like driving vacations with the exception of Québec, sane, friendly drivers. ( we have driven all over Europe and S. America and a lot of the US )( Driving is not relaxing for us ) We discovered the Wind Surf in 1999, we were sold. Yes, in the planning independent Greek Islands, more island hopping and Italy, inland, trains. When we take WS Cruises on a trip my planning and research is probably extreme. Normally we get drivers, some of whom have become friends. Travel is a passion for us and being on the Surf in the winter for vacations is heaven, me getting out of New England's grim weather for am always cold. Big difference for us trips and vacations. I am so grateful for all of it. We are not wealthy , teacher and child psychologist, travel is the passion. I love your passion for Greece. Happy Dreaming, Traveling, Vacationing and Learning to us all.
  8. I think floor five too, we loved our room walk down the hall voila the bow's hot tub, great place outside 545 is good. All are Star category, I prefer the Ocean category with the sitting are near the window/balcony but in this case you will be happy with 545. Enjoy and Happy Sailing
  9. I would imagine that is the WS reason, certainly not right to disappoint all those guests. Given that, as much as I adore Paris I would stay away from Paris this summer, given the Surfing Olympics are in Tahiti would stay away there too. I hope Flightmedic555 calls WS back and try to get every dime he can from this inconvenience and goes on this cruise when there is only pure beauty. Happy Sailing
  10. Not sure sales are slow... my cruise for April 2025 almost completely full, my cruise this past January usually on the slowest weeks almost full. Given complications with airfares, families, hotels, applying for vacation time etc I do think if it was a charter this close to the date that really is not right. Perhaps some can jump to other time but really it is such an inconvenience.Plus if you measure good will and referrals. For example we probably have referred friends and family, friends and friends of friends over 150 people over the years, do you think that passenger will do the same. Revenue is more than a passenger. Too bad WS does not give the reason. Happened to my sister last summer Alaska and it was mechanical issue, huge difference.
  11. That is really a shame, I have never heard of WS canceling a cruise so close to date of a sailing. I am curious if it is some issue with the ship or a large group charter, which in that case is wrong due to timing. Being a WS fan, seriously I do not blame you if it was a charter to be angry and a never again. Try to find out what the reason is. Might settle things for you. Good Luck
  12. I am so very sorry for your heart breaking story. But, Look at you, brava, you went and did it and unfortunate things did happen but you did it. If you went on this cruise you can do about anything. You are embracing your moments how beautiful. All the best. Happier Sailing in the future. 😻Susanne
  13. I too hope you are well. Once this ordeal is over, evaluate what is important to you, what you love doing and try again. Rooting for you. Happy Sailing
  14. I have used the laundry on 28 cruises, everything always comes back great but I bring very washable items. The laundry is critical for my goal to never check my luggage. Love it. Happy Sailing.
  15. Good Luck mouth pain is grim. When this ordeal is over let us know how you fared. Do not let one incident ruin it for you for what you love to do in the future.
  16. We are on the 18 day Canary Islands, to Portugal, N. Africa to Spain April 2025. Looks great. I have begun my research, this will be our 29 th on WS, 2nd time on the Pride we like the ship. Happy Sailing to us.
  17. To put you at ease reminder France is rated one of the top countries in the world for medical care. Outcomes exceed the US. From experience it might be a lot less expensive than you think. Good Luck to you.
  18. Totally agree, 100%+, 14 days cruise or more you get it with cruise fare. About 10 years ago we made a funny rule no cruise shorter than 14 days. The fare clicked in a few years ago with the laundry. Love the laundry, cabin water pressure and really hot water in the showers, in addition to everything else. Happy Sailing.
  19. We also like Amphora. We like the on the smaller side portions, we like " undercooked vegetables" vegetables should have a crunch in the mouth. Not big dessert eaters but would rather have real sugar than fake sugar which we would never eat. If you do not want sugar eat a lovely piece of fruit. My husband loves the soups, I love the lamb, which is from New Zealand. I applaud WS the menus have something delicious for everyone. The Stella Bistro is real " French ", which we adore. They make a real Frisée Salad, real Soup d' Oignon, we used to live in Europe, yummy memories. Of course Candles lamb again! Great memories of our past with WS, have to wait until 2025 to go again. Happy Sailing.
  20. Thank you for your kind words. I do not want to pay for other people's alcohol mostly. If a company goes all inclusive the rates will go up. That is indirectly paying for other's alcohol, WI-FI or tours etc. Given our status, the fact we do not take trips less than 10-14 days, WI-FI and laundry are not the issues but we drink maybe one or two drinks a day, many days my husband does not drink, indirectly we do want to pay higher cruise prices for all inclusive alcohol. We would never want to pay for all inclusive tours either, not fond of bus tours, our interests are completely different than most people's. I am not saying better simply different. I do not want to see what the world sees, I travel to see/ learn what we love. We cruise because we love the water and really do not love driving. Hope this is clear. That is what I meant. For us WS remains reasonable, not wealthy people but love to travel. Enjoy and thanks again.
  21. We stick with one line that happens to be Windstar Cruises for a few simple reasons: love sails, love small, hate big and assorted buffets ( won't eat at them ), like and knowledgeable of foods, love the laundry, love that it is not all inclusive, hate standing in lines, like aloneness and quiet, love that the shower water is hot and water pressure great, love that it goes to small ports, love the bedding, love the crew and service, why would we even think of changing. Our history: 1968 crossed Atlantic to go to study, 1970 crossed again $150 to go back to my university, Atlantic twice with WS and Pacific once with WS, twice taken a supply ship up the St. Lawrence, once the Hurtiguerton as a supply ship up the coast of Norway, once a Viking River Ship 2002. We have loved every experience, (all 28 with WS), all, different. If you love something like we do WS why venture out to things you know you would not like. We like where WS brings us, we like it all. When I write about WS I try to be fair, knowledgeable, " balanced " and to tell people a bit about us because we are well aware our interests are very different. Happy Sailing
  22. Your pictures are glorious. Beautiful part of the world, so happy we went on WS’s Wind Spirit.
  23. Best laundry anywhere. Reason we only do carry on. Happy Sailing.
  24. Perhaps wrong word, the stairs move with the water, for people with gait or balance issues or people who need walking sticks/ canes they can be challenging. The hand rails are firm, the space between stairs going from one to the other is shorter than regular stairs. The platform goes with the water swells, but the crew are obviously well trained, patient and safety first with WS. It all depends on the fickle ocean but in the Carib. and Med. most of the time it is smooth sailing. Enjoy.
  25. We have been sailing on WS since 1999. I recognize that differences in food likes and dislikes are as different as humanity itself. We like the element of surprise knowing after all these years it will different and with always something good. Happy Sailing.
