  1. I waited until formal night when all the different photographers were out. You know how the photographers make you stand this way, tilt your head, hold hands, etc to put you in a nice stance for the photo. Well, I as we went up to have our pictures taken, I whispered to the photographer to put me in the proposal stance. He understood exactly what I meant. As we got ready to take the picture. He says, "ok sir, why don't you take a knee" My lady looked bewildered at first, like "what are you doing?" I took the knee, pulled the ring out of my pocket and popped the question. We were dressed up because it was formal night. The photographer was there to snap the pictures to capture the moment and she said "YES".

The only problem was picking the best photos because he took about 25 pictures of us.

  2. Just got off the phone with Crown and Anchor Diamond plus line. Turns out even though I had paperwork showing my reservation was linked to my parents, it wasn't because there were no notes in the system that both reservation gave permission to be linked. Thankfully I called to check because you can't see the information anymore with the new "crappy" website.

So even though you may have linked reservations now, they have the right to unlink them if there are no notes in the system showing permission was granted. In fact the supervisor of the Crown and Anchor told me they have the right to do what ever they want with your reservation. The kicker is you won't know unless you call to ask. I understand some people not wanting their reservations linked, but this isn't the case this time. I don't know what's linked and what isn't. This information used to be on the website until they completely messed that up.

I wouldn't be so upset if I didn't have documentation that they were linked previously. But they wouldn't take that, they had to call my parents to get permission. And before anyone says anything....No, my parents didn't unlink the reservations. Well at least that's the story they are sticking with. ;)

Just a heads up if you have others you are traveling with and want the reservations linked, you have to call and make sure all the permissions have been granted by all parties. Only way to tell now is to call.

  3. I sent them the idea to develop some sort of overnight experience a couple of years ago. i saved what I sent them (below). thought it would be an awesome idea. But I would want it kept more primitive.

Don't have an issue, I have an idea for an extreme shore excursion on Cococay.

It involves the 3 and 4 night cruises sailing to Cococay.

Set aside a select number of cabins for this, let's say 10.

An example for the Enchantment OTS. As you arrive at Cococay on Sunday,

you depart the ship for a Cococay 2 night overnight camping experience.

You stay in cabanas for two nights enjoying the island. On tuesday when

the ship returns to the island for its next scheduled stop you get on that Cruise and finish out the week.

Those who have signed up for the 5 Night Cococay Overnight experience

will remain behind From Tuesday until the Enchantment returns the following Sunday.

The process repeats. Select cabins will be set aside for this on the Enchantment.

It would be a camping like roughing it experience on the island.

  4. It is completely up to you. The Ship charges the daily gratuities for the room steward, your dining room waiter, assistant waiter and Head waiter. Although this is charged to your shipboard account you can go to guest services and request they be removed. Especially if you have bad service. Keep in mind these people work for very little money and rely mostly on tips. Some people like to tip upfront for good personal service and reward great service with an extra tip at the end. Again this is all optional.

The drink packages 18% is not optional. But anything over and above it optional. Again, if you are looking for personal service at a busy venue, it might be advantageous to tip a little extra, but its not necessary and you won't receive poor service if you don't. These people work very hard to make your vacation the best and they don't usually have attitudes for not getting extra tips. They will make you feel welcome regardless. So in summary. Tipping extra is all up to you and the automatic gratuities can be reversed at Guest Services.

  5. This little problem has been going on for a couple of days now. The 20% discount is only for the Allure April and May 2016 sailings and any 9+ day sailing. It shouldn't even been seen on the other sailings cruise planners. Not sure why the current pricing is lower than normal drink package pricing, but it does cause a conspiracy theory of raising prices.

Normal Premium pricing is $49/day, but they are showing pricing now for $47/day. A 20% discount off $59/day (ultimate package pricing) is $47.20/day, so it appears like they raised the prices of the packages and then gave a 20% off discount of the new price. Who knows if this is the case or if it really was a mistake. I know when I look at the cruise planner for my 3 night cruise in September, I do not see the 20% off special, but the normal pricing of $49/day for the premium package.

So if you are sailing on the Allure from now up until the May 22 sailing or on a 9+ night, you should get the real 20% off special.

  6. Just returned last Saturday and wanted to post a few comments about something I have never experienced before in my 30+ cruises on Royal Caribbean.

We sailed on the Oasis of the Seas on October 26th, 2013 for the second time in as many years. This is the first time on any Royal Caribbean cruise that I have had to visit the naughty room to collect my bag. Imagine my surprise when I get to the naughty room only to find my bag with a note on it saying "Power Surge". The only reason it was flagged was my power strip. I have carried a power strip with me on the past 20+ Royal Caribbean cruises and once before on the Oasis.

Upon opening my bag to retrieve the power strip, security noticed my tiny box fan that I bring along as well. They said, you can't have that either. I was shocked. Never before have I heard of a power strip being siezed let alone a fan. I asked "why now" and "is this a new policy" Nobody could answer me, saying they don't want the items to overheat. To which my response was, "but a lady's curling iron/straightner is ok?"

After several minutes of talking with security and them conferring with the Electrician onboard, they brought my strip and fan to my cabin and asked that I not leave it on, when not in the cabin.

I dont' know if this is new policy after the Carnival and RCCL fires or not, but I thought I would post here to see if anyone else has seen this recent change or knew of anything.
