Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. The walls for sure. Didn’t try to stick anything to the door.
  2. Why not? If I am the only one that works in my household, should my wife not get credit for sailings we take together? What about when I take my 18+ old kids on a cruise, I am still the one paying. What is magically different about me paying when they are 18+ and me paying when they are younger?
  3. I have a resolution. While I never heard back from any of the emails sent to the executive team email, I did work with The Retreat Concierge team who spoke with the executive team. In the end Celebrity offered to split the different and pay for one of the passengers in the cabin if I would pay for the other. I agreed. I don't think the website behavior is intentional but I do think it is very misleading and should be fixed. As a result I think it is fair to have split the difference. I hope the executive team does also get the website fixed.
  4. I’m not in the most likely offender group, yet. When I am that old I expect the world to revolve around me. I will do as I please because I am close to death anyway.
  5. I lump the kids 0-12 in with the parents age ranking. It’s not reasonable to expect a 5 year old to buy their own headphones. My guess is the parents you mentioned are in the 30-54 range based on the age of the kid and the fact that people are getting married and having kids later in life.
  6. Apparently there are inconsiderate people of all ages, but that is not the 5 year olds fault. In my experience, and this is just my experience, I find it much more likely that someone 55+ will be using a speakerphone or playing audio over the phone speaker than someone 13-30. The 13-30 group will have headphones of some type. The 31-54 group is a crapshoot as some will have headphones and some will not. My ranking of public sound abusers in order of most likely to be annoying to least likely to be annoying. 1. People 55+ and older 2. People 31-54 3. People 13-30
  7. My in laws, I guess younger older, live with my family so I spend a lot of time around them. When they are playing videos or talking on their phone, through their hearing aids, I can clearly hear what is playing from as far away as 10-15 feet. It is something people with bluetooth hearing aids need to know. The other side of the conversation is not as private as they might think. And neither is the sound from whatever they are playing on their phone. Edited to add: I can't say that I have found the same for headphones. I don't remember ever sitting next to someone using headphones and hearing quite as clearly what is playing as I do with the hearing aids my in laws both have.
  8. It find it much more likely to encounter an older generation person using a speakerphone or playing videos or music in public without headphones. Younger generations have headphones and use them.
  9. I have never sailed with Celebrity before but have been reading for a large percentage of my life. When looking at booking I first priced two veranda. The upgrade option in that case says All Included. When booking a veranda and a suite the upgrade option changes to read The Retreat. As someone who has never sailed with Celebrity I understood the second option to be what it says, an upgrade for the connecting cabin to The Retreat. I am not certain how I am supposed to read it as anything other than an offer to upgrade Cabin 1 to The Retreat amenities. I am still waiting to hear back from Celebrity. I was told on Friday that I would be hearing from someone today, Monday the 10th. I have had some contact with reservations and The Retreat department. I have not heard back from my email sent to ExecutiveOffice@celebrity.com. As someone who has never before sailed with Celebrity I am not sure how I am supposed to know that an offer to upgrade to The Retreat is not really an off to upgrade to The Retreat. This stinks of bait and switch. The website is offering something different than what is delivered after payment. To further the bait and switch claim, when I did speak with The Retreat they told me that upgrades to The Retreat are NOT available for this sailing. A trait of a bait and switch scheme is to offer up something that you have no intention of ever delivering.
  10. I was promised a call back from Celebrity today, no call yet. Does anyone have email addresses or phone numbers that might get me connected to someone with some level of authority? So far I have only been allowed to speak to reservations and someone at The Retreat number. Neither of whom was any help at all. I just sent an email off to ExecutiveOffice@celebrity.com. Anyone have a better phone number or email that typically gets a response from a person?
  11. Much of the Grand Lucayan is still closed but what was open was nice.
  12. Which is why I thought I was upgrading the veranda cabin to have retreat access. Hopefully Celebrity gets back to me as promised on Thursday.
  13. I just did one on the Edge and got offered what appears to be an upgrade to The Retreat but is actually All Included. Results in:
