  1. LOL. Thanks! That is funny. I'm surprised he is not, but the local weather people are just going wild. LIVE coverage of STORM will start at whatever time....🙄 We will be bringing you continuing coverage! 😃
  2. We just received a recorded call from the sewer utility. They are asking us to limit water use on Wed./Thurs. because of the expected storms, showers, laundry, sinks, toilets. They expect the system to be overwhelmed with water. First, we have to conserve water because of the drought, and now we have to conserve water because of too much water. California is weird. 🤔 And all the weather people are in a tizzy! Sandbagging videos and locations everywhere. They can't quite decide if it is a bomb cyclone from the north, pineapple express, and atmospheric river in there too. 🙄 Which just means it will be a series of storms in the jet stream. We're fine. We are in the hills. Localized mudslides are sometimes a problem, but flooding is generally not. It is funny how all of the headlines can cause tension, when there really shouldn't be any, just preparedness. 😟 It will just be a lot of rain and wind, not tornadoes and hurricanes. We even have a spare sump pump if this one fails.
  3. Kohlrabi is very popular at Farmers' Markets. I have no idea how it is prepared. The green variety always reminds of the aliens in "Toy Story". Another interesting and popular Farmers' Market item is Romanesco Broccoli, AKA Roman Cauliflower. I don't know exactly what you do with it either, but it looks cool. It also comes in purple. 😃It is a cross between the two.
  4. It is really flat there? You don't have any hills or mountains? I always thought if you had lakes, there would be higher elevations. Thanks! It is always interesting to see other parts of the country. Ours are up in the hills. Stock Photo
  5. Thanks. No, it was slow destruction on Saturday. It is just a major inconvenience for the rest of us. And I feel sorry for the people that have homes that back up to the creek. They are not required to have flood insurance, because <supposedly> this is a "Controlled Water Project". I think my friend purchased it anyway, last time her yard and back bedroom were flooded because the county failed to clear debris out of the creek.
  6. The big 6 reservoirs have only added 1% so far, according to news. 34% to 35%. Hopefully, it will be a wet winter, just not all at once. 🙄
  7. This is about 3/4 of a mile from our house. Major street between my town and next one, closed indefinitely. Remember the floating fishing dock destruction? This is the creek that comes out of the small lake where the pier was. They are going to have to remove most of that debris before Wednesday, or it is going to flood (badly) again. 🙄 Stay tuned. 😊
  8. I would try it for free. The posted photos of it on Wonder look like a conference room with puzzles. ☺️ But I'm sure it would be fun.
  9. It is helping a little by adding to reservoirs, wells and groundwater storage. But unfortunately, there is no infrastructure down here to retain it, so most of the water just runs into the Bay. They next bunch of storms are supposed to come from the north and add to the snowpack, and that is most helpful when it melts in the spring. Thanks for asking. The Atmospheric River storms are very wet, but usually come from tropical areas, (Pineapple Express) so they don't really help much with the snow.
  10. That is what my friend's physician told her about ship water and her CPAP. It is essentially already distilled water.
  11. We did get a lot. More photos: https://www.kron4.com/news/bay-area/flood-watches-in-effect-as-rain-returns-to-the-bay-area/
  12. It is definitely a little more rain than we need all at one time. Bay Area Braces For More Extreme Weather After Historic Storm | Castro Valley, CA Patch
  13. No vouchers on Celebrity. You get to go to an evening lounge on Celebrity. You receive the 4 drinks per day on RCI.
  14. 74962A93-F1FF-4CD3-B095-437BABCD80A8 (1).mp4 Lets see if this works. When you push play, it should start video. It is one of the fishing piers going down the spillway.
  15. Not our yard. We have a sump pump and French drains, but some of our neighbors are not so fortunate: The spillway at a nearby lake.
  16. We are just getting rain, rain, and more rain. It has been raining non-stop for 4 of the last 5 days. Now we have closed freeways and roads because of flooding and mudslides. It seems like we never have enough rain, or we get too much rain. Our neighbors went up to our other house in the mountains for the holiday weekend. They came over to pick up the key last night. We are just staying home with the cat. HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone! ☺️
  17. D+ receive 30% off the Onboard price and Pinnacles receive 40% off. There is no discount for Diamond members and the onboard prices are usually quite a bit higher than planner purchases.
  18. It might be a gas station with a previous history of credit card skimmer fraud. We have a lot of that here, and some of the banks have tagged the particular stations. It is not their (the GS) fault, and I don't know what alerting you in advance would actually do. ☺️ An off-brand station down the hill, actually had skimmers on 8 of their 12 pumps. And people kept receiving fraudulent charges after pumping gas at the station. The state came in on that one.
  19. 😃 I will have to check how mine are set-up. My bank lets me charge happily away, and then when I go to pay the balance on bill pay, it flags it and says, "This amount is much larger than your usual payment". Duh, paying off cruises kind of runs the balance up. 🙄
  20. Well, I don't know if I would like Macklemore on a portable speaker.... But the video and song are great! 😀 Have a wonderful time. Happy Birthday. Happy New Year. And we look forward to following along. ☺️
  21. Happy Holidays to you and your family, Harry! I am looking forward to Getty Center photos! Was there anything about P-22 at Griffith Park? 😀 I read today in the paper that there was an impromptu memorial with two Chihuahua statues in honor of his last meal. LOL. ☺️
  22. Do you mean like a glass juicer? Smash/Juice and pour out of bowl? That would probably be fine, if you want to go to all the trouble. And bring plastic bags for the rinds. Electric OJ machine would not be allowed. We have one like this, that we use sometimes. https://a.co/d/0k9NlpR
