We have 3 guys in our group that would like to do a fishing excursion while in Alaska.  We are cruising the week of June 23, not sure what fish they are catching at that time, the guys are pretty open as far as  kind of fish they are fishing for.   They would like to do this in Seward before boarding, or in Juneau or Ketchikan, private or ship excursion.  I can’t wait to hear your fishing stories!

    thank you!

I have been fishing in Alaska for close to 25 years and can tell you some fishing stories including 2 bear encounters , one of which made newspaper headlines !

  2. Years ago right after the MSC Seaside was launched I had a plumbing problem also in one of its rooms. The room was being filled with the smell of sewer gas coming in thru the AC system. I complained several times but got the same answer as you did "we have no empty rooms ".

I finally informed them that i would get off at the first port and they would reimburse me for cruise and travel home. They magically found an empty room. Didn't help me move to new room but surprisingly gave me a certificate for a free specialty dinner. Well guess what, they ended up charging me for dinner and the person who gave me the certificate denied giving it to me !! When I posted this on the MSC site their cheerleaders basically stated that this couldn't have happened and were insinuating it was my fault. Need less to say I am one and done with MSC. Good luck with your incident and hope you and your husband are in good health.

    PS

MSC eventually found the problem and corrected it.

  3. If you spend some time in Anchorage, you can fish downtown in Ships creek. You can rent fishing equipment there. Of course you need to catch the salmon runs which occur in the summer months.

  4. Definitely agree with AKStafford Been going up there for over 25 years and go in June, July, or August. Been up there also in the winter and one of the advantages  to that is there are no mosquitoes! but you can't beat the scenery!

  5. I also agree to Rome on your own. Have been there 6+ times and love being on our own. Transportation is easily accessible and there are plenty of hotels. We stay at the Hotel Quirinale which is the oldest hotel in Rome and the ambiance is awesome. It has an outdoor garden area where you can dine in and listen to music provided . Also it is next to the Opera Hall and can hear the performances..Makes me wish I was back there now. Good luck with your choice.

I think I might stick to the 7 day cruises. The thought of me following someone naked up the stairs or getting on the elevator with them causes me nightmares !!!

Especially if the elevator is crowded !

I think we will be lucky that they are at least wearing anything on the 12th day of a 14 night cruise!

I can close my eyes but it is hard to stop breathing. 🫣

  8. Another item to consider .about the fishing charters is the price of having your fish processed and shipped to your home. Depending on the type of fish and the amount , it could cost more than the charter.

  9. There is only one road to Anchorage. During the summer it can get quite congested and possibly closed because of an accident. 7 1/2 hrs. is not enough time to safely accomplish this trip. Also you will need to deal with the Whittier tunnel schedule. Whatever you choose to do please keep that in mind. Have a great trip.

  10. Reminds me of the cruise I took on the MSC

Seaside shortly after it was launched. Our room smelled strongly of sewer gas( no not the bathroom drain) coming in from the AC vent. 3 officers confirmed it.Complained and complained and was informed that there were no other rooms available. I informed them that if they did not relocate me I was getting off the first port and they would reimburse me for cruise and air. They magically found another room for me. My compensation was a free (so I thought)  dinner at a speciality restuarant. They ended up charging me for the dinner and denied giving me the certiicate. I will not sail with these pirates again.

Diont they give you an option?   You can use the TP,  wash cloth, or the brush next to the toilet. 😱🙄🤷‍♂️🤗
Are you talking about the toothbrush?

    Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅
