  1. We will be there next month. From my research, there wasn't much to see/do in Brest. There are some nice villages not far from Brest that many people visit while in Brest. I am in a group from my roll call that is going to Quimper and Locronan. They look like lovely cities and should be a great day.
  2. Thanks so much for confirming this. I appreciate it and will definitely use Uber next month when I am there.
  3. Do they have Uber in Lisbon? That would be the best way to get to the hotel from the port for me.
  4. OP, I have been on 25 Celebrity cruise and will be taking my 5th O cruise next month. I obviously like Celebrity; but ever since my first O cruise 5 years ago on Regatta, O has been my favorite line. I have been on the Edge twice and as you know, it is a lovely ship, but does have some major negatives to me, along with many positives. But cruising on Oceania, to me, is like cruising on Celebrity 20 years ago when it was a much better experience. Like you, I am tired of going to the Celebrity dining rooms seeing the same menus over and over again. The Oceania food is a very pleasant change from X. Not constantly being attacked by photographers, having merchandise hawked at you and having to pay for every little extra really makes O such a pleasure. Try it, you will like it. I wouldn't be surprised if it became your new favorite line. But do try the Riviera and Marina after the Regatta, to see how awesome a ship can be.
  5. I have just come onto this forum for the first time. I will be following this thread and am much appreciative of the cruiseplum link. It will be very helpful for future bookings. I already have 4 cruises booked, 3 of which were booked with my late wife. So it might be a while before I have time to fit in another, but will be watching. Thanks so much for the tips.
  6. I will be in Amsterdam in September staying in the center city area. The only places I think we will be going is to the museum area. Is it even worth getting special transportation card? How much is the transportation without one for a round trip to the museum area? Thanks for any info.
  7. We have been on 3 HAL cruises and have thoroughly enjoyed them all. The last one was a South America/Antarctica cruise. It was a 23 day cruise compared to Celebrity's 14 day version. Most importantly, HAL spent 3 days in Antarctica compared to just 2 for Celebrity, plus it also went up the west coast of SA. Surprisingly, the price for the much longer HAL cruise was slightly less than the X cruise. I will happily cruise on either line, although X's Elite Plus perks do help when picking cruises.

  9. You didn't need to post it all, since I read it yesterday before I replied. It is excellent info and I am looking forward to seeing it in person.
  10. Thanks for the link. I will be there in September, doin a cruise similar to the previous one you did that stopped there.
  11. Hi Andrew. I don't want to take away from Joe's greetings, but my darling Carol died in March. You can email me at mpreisman@gmail.com if you would like to.
  12. Welcome to this board also Joe. You are going to be quite busy it seems. Have fun.
  13. Welcome to this fine board Joe. Glad you will be joining us.
  14. I couldn't agree more with the OP. I thoroughly enjoyed the Edge, but not the IV balcony area. They should just get rid of the blinds and put a blackout curtain at the edge of the balcony, although if the window is put down, it will blow the curtain around. But it would work if the window was left closed. I am pretty sure that X will find a way to make this work better. They have too many ships on order that will have this issue if they don't. I would love to cruise on the Apex, but certainly wouldn't book an IV.
