  1. Thanks....never crossed my mind that there would be a big event like that in Miami area......Feb 2nd......we were looking at a hotel for Jan 24,25 before the cruise that leaves on Jan 26.....but was shocked at the prices.....have a res for one night and will hold it in the 17th street area....as you can see do not really follow the NFL that much.....we are more into the NHL...lol.....Ken
  2. Wow....just checked the prices....Hilton Honors.....$245 a night plus tax..end of Jan 25th...might as well stay in the 17th area for that price.....and for Canadians.....pretty expensive.....$329.....yikes......
  3. Thanks for the tips all of you......I suppose the best thing to do is book a few places that I can cancel for no cost and see what comes up.....and "bite the bullet" so to speak for one night before the cruises start....Ken
  4. have two cruises booked out of Fll...back to back but........have to arrive the day before as flying in from West Coast....was looking at hotels around 17th area .....like that area as can walk to lots of stuff....and even the small water taxi.....have stayed at the Hyatt Place but "wholey cow".....rates into the $250 plus a night.....but holding a reservation anyways.......any other suggestions that will save me some.....I hate paying for a hotel room that costs more than the cost of the cruise....lol..........PS......was going to arrive an extra day ahead but at the high cost that is out of the question now.....what about airbandb??? any tips on places you can use that are not too far from the airport.......also.......do prices go down if I wait closer to the time to go in Fll area or just stay high as the "get out of winter crowd" are flocking there.....
  5. Lol.....this is one time that the Can $ is better than the US $......easy for us to keep our own money.....but worth lots less.....wonder why we need to spend $75 for a US based visa....will check to see if we really need one to get into the country......thanks again
  6. Wow....not quite the responses that I expected.....thanks "Sue from Canada"...that is the one I was sort of expecting....some info on what to expect when getting off the ship and the hows.......I am not a fan of Cuba but my wife and I like to broaden our experiences and a few days there will let us see what it is like and then we can make our own decisions as if we like it or not.....lots of our friends have gone but only to "all inclusive resorts" and we have heard mixed reviews.....Thanks again to those who responded....
  7. Just booked one for January......for 7 days......do Canadians need to follow the rules for Americans on the ship and have organized tours that are for "cultural support the peoples of Cuba" reasons.....was looking at some tours available and get some rules from the United States Department of the Treasury Office of Foreign Assets (OFAC) .....does anyone know if this applies to us also.....thanks...
  8. Thanks for the comments.....looks fine for us....have sailed on MSC and quite enjoyed the European experience.....just got a quote for a balcony....cabin #9105.....price was great but looking at the ship plan it is over the disco on deck #8.....not sure about that as can not stand all that thump thump thump from the music.......will do some more research.....prob could ask for a different on on deck 10 or 11......?????seems the only difference to main stream cruises for us Canadians is the deposit is not refundable after booking.....not sure if I like that.....maybe wait until within the 3 month booking period and then make our minds up.....what about staying in the islands for a week....or Malaga for a week....will look up AirB&B and see what comes up.....Thanks....Ken
  9. We are thinking about the Zenith.....on Jan 26th 2020....for 7 days about the Canary Islands....never been on Pullmantur before but looks really interesting and quite inexpensive compared to main stream lines we have been on......any suggestion about a cabin.....looks like not many balcony ones but we are quite easy with an ocean view one.......prob will book with VtoGo and use them lots...have not booked yet.....looked at booking on the Spanish site but my Spanish is not all that great....lol.....Thought we would stay in Malaga for a week and then do the cruise or some sort of similar plan and perhaps stay in the Canary island for a week also....prob about three weeks overall......any other tips about the line are welcome......says drinks included...is that real???
