  1. I booked this TA the day the schedule opened, and then spent over a year watching the build. This was both a reunion cruise with friends, and a much needed break from work. Despite some frustrations with our IV cabin, my DH & I had a wonderful cruise on this beautiful ship. During our fifteen days aboard Edge, I had hoped to try every venue at least once, visit every piece of art, and thoroughly explore the public areas of the ship. I didn't quite reach my goal, but we almost made it🙂 This was our sixth cruise, and our first at Captain's Club Elite level (hello, lovely laundry benefit!). We've sailed both M & S class, most recently on Silhouette last summer. Our music and art tastes are broad, and we enjoy both the classical and the Edgy (couldn't resist lol). I'll review: embarkation in Ft. Lauderdale our cabin, including our experience with the layout & functionality of the IV itself our impressions of cabins we saw on our cabin crawl our impressions of the ship herself, and her officers, staff, and crew the four main dining rooms, the OVC, plus lunch at Eden four specialty restaurants, including Eden drinks in Eden, the Casino bar, the Martini bar, Sunset bar, and on the Magic Carpet several shows, including Eden the music the art the pool deck, Rooftop Garden, and track Guest Relations & Future Cruises Captain's Club, Concierge, and Cruise Critic events disembarkation in Southampton I'll try to post segments daily, including some photos and video, and hope to have finished within a week. Please remember that I'm posting my opinions (sometimes including those of my DH) only. Others on the same TA will have had different experiences, and have different opinions.
  2. You're welcome😊 I've copied the info & photos to the correct thread (Potential Edge modifications ....). I'd hoped to begin my review today, but now I'm not sure I'll have time.
  3. I also had the opportunity to twice discuss entertainment with the CD, Damian de Lorenzis. I first highly praised one of the shows, which was the best Celebrity production show I've seen since my first cruise (on Millennium in 2006). Everything worked. Timing, performance, story. DH & I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I managed to completely lose myself in the performance. Excellent job by Damian, musicians, cast, and backstage crew (more on this production will be in my review). I also praised the fantastic Celebrity Theatre Musicians, and told Damian I'd love to see them perform their own music around the ship. He said that sometimes happens, but this cruise had a lot of guest musicians. I mentioned that many of us like varied music & productions, and that we hoped X would continue to balance the golden oldies with music of the present & recent past. He quite naturally couldn't commit to any path, but did say that the musicians (house band etc) are trained to "read the audience" on each cruise, and adapt their performance choices to the audience. We shall see. I guess we'll need to keep commenting on what we like & dislike, and hope for the best.
  4. Here is a photo of our 24" and 26" luggage occupying the chairs. They were at least useful for packing lol.
  5. IMO, the current chairs are quite uncomfortable, not because of the size, but because the angle of the back placed undue strain on my lower back. They have no neck support (as the chairs on M & S class do) which placed undue strain on my neck. I had to sit upright, not using the back at all, much like a Victorian lady wearing a corset lol. My hope is that they'll be replaced with chairs like the ones that have been on M & S class verandas for the past few years. I'll post a photo demonstrating how massive the current chairs are.
  6. I think that with smaller - and hopefully more comfortable - chairs, the bifold doors may be easier to open/close without moving furniture. That would allow those who want to avoid using the blind (which turns the cabin into a dark cave IMO) to have privacy for one occupant while the other is on the veranda. BTW the fifty cabins that already have frosted doors are all located on deck 7, aft (both port & starboard).
  7. The ship was completely full for our cruise, so all fifty IVs with frosted bifold doors were occupied. Knowing quite a few PAX had intended to disembark early, in Le Havre, I asked Guest Relations if I could see one, if one became free. Fortunately, one did, so Guest Relations arranged for the cabin attendant to let me see the cabin. I was able to spend just a couple minutes in IV cabin 7267, but I got some quick photos.
  8. I had the opportunity to twice speak with the Hotel Director, Niyazi Korkmaz, regarding planned changes for the IVs, as well as planned changes for the RTG Grill & Fine Cut Grill. He said the following (and showed me photos of a frosted bifold door). During our conversations, he said: Fifty IV cabins already had frosted bifold doors, and the rest will be done soon. New chairs (but not tables) are on order for the IV cabins. There are no plans to remove the blinds in the IVs. An awning will be added to the RTG Grill, but no wind shield panels are planned. Panels are being discussed for the FCG (already done on Apex) to reduce noise from the Grand Plaza during dinner.
  9. I just realized that I’ve posted these Edge changes on an Apex thread! Argh. Guess I’m trying do too many things at once. Sorry, everyone😕 Now, I’d better figure out how to post everything on the correct thread.
  10. Off topic, I know, but are you booked on the “reunion cruise” on Apex?
  11. Ditto for us, and we just disembarked Monday. During our fifteen day cruise, we constantly roamed the ship, and we visited most venues many times. As many other recent cruisers have already stated, there was absolutely no intrusive behavior on the part of the Edenists. Despite the fact that Celebrity promptly responded to passenger feedback, some people simply won't let this very old - and dead - issue go.

  13. I agree with you, Den. I can't imagine they'd change these areas, and I heard nothing to that effect during my many converations with officers and staff. They were all extremely popular on my TA. I'm sure they'll create new shows, but I hope they'll stick to their theme. Michelle

  17. Taken from veranda, doors closed, blind open.
  18. Taken from inside cabin, doors closed, blind open.

  21. I loved the haunted/magic forest, so I guess we’re part of the same tribe lol. Hi cuz😜 I honestly don’t get why it’s controversial, though I do see why it might be disorienting to anyone having vision issues.
  22. She did. She's heading back to work tomorrow. It is brutal, especially coming off a TA, on which perhaps 2/3 to 3/4 of our fellow PAX are retired, and able to append wonderful land segments to their cruises. Someday....
  23. Thanks😁 We made it home late Monday night, spent yesterday trying to catch up, and it’s back to work today😝 I’ll post the frosted bifold door pics and information specific to this thread here (today).
