  1. I've recently seen several descriptions of the buffet that were similar to yours. I love fish, shrimp, and the occasional steak, but I do wonder if Oceania has heard of vegetables. Are there also plenty of vegetable and fruit choices? The specialty restaurants do sound good. I don't care for "stuffy" dining rooms so this gives me pause. I do appreciate a nice afternoon tea. Ironically, due to recent actions taken by Celebrity, we'd begun to consider Oceania just in time to learn about the new "Simply More" program. Not being a fan of cruise line shore excursions, this is a negative for us. It will be interesting to see how well the program is received by O's regulars.
  2. I remember the same things, though I never worked in a place with a separate smoking enclosure. Instead, there were rooms divided by signs only. As you say, these were useless distinctions, especially on planes. I’m not advocating vaping enclosures, but they’d be more effective than signs partitioning the casino. I’m still clinging to the hope that Celebrity will decide not to pursue this decidedly unhealthy change to the smoking/vaping policy.
  3. And I’m very sorry about your dad. Please don’t think everyone on these vaping threads is hostile towards vapers/smokers themselves. Instead, many of us are hostile to the prospect of being exposed the indoor vaping in the Celebrity casinos. Some of my favorite people- including my sister and some of my nieces & nephews- smoke or vape, but they do so outside. Given your experiences, you realize that particulates can cause lung damage. There’s also nicotine and all the other chemicals to consider. That’s my concern with being exposed to vaping indoors. Celebrity’s “test” suggests that casinos might be divided into vaping/non-vaping sections. This would be done with signs, not walls and a separate ventilation system. Aerosols and particulates are not controlled by signs, so Celebrity’s proposed vaping concept in disingenuous at best. I can tell that you genuinely believe that you can vape in a Celebrity casino without exposing others to vape aerosol and particulates. I don’t believe that is possible unless Celebrity builds a separate enclosure with a separate ventilation system. We’ve each expressed our opinions to Celebrity, and we’ve made our cases on this thread. I hope we can respectfully agree to disagree.
  4. I’m sorry. I too watched my mother die at barely 60 - gasping so desperately for each breath that I could see every rib clearly. And my dad helplessly watched the love of his life die a terrible death. Surrounded by chain smokers in my childhood, I’ve already inhaled too much secondhand smoke. I don’t want to be exposed to vaping or smoking indoors.
  5. Looking forward to following your journey. Reflection is one of our favorite S-class ships (along with Silhouette). We had a lovely time aboard her in December 2019 which, unbeknownst to us, was our last cruise before the shutdown. Wishing you a splendid holiday. Cheers🍷
  6. Norris, I’m sorry to see that you’re still feeling fatigued. I hope you feel better after taking things slowly today. I also hope Carol has a lovely canal cruise. As you say, you’ll have another reason to return. - Michelle
  7. @kwokpot thanks so much for your posts and photos thus far. DH and I will board Apex at the end of the month for a b2b and your posts have filled in some blanks for us. I do have a question. Did you and your husband find it easy to find a place to stow your luggage on the tram?
  8. I’ll board Apex later this month for a b2b. I don’t know if I’ll be up to posting my very first live review, but I can promise to a least post a trip review with some food & cocktail pics🍹😎
  9. I’m here, glass of 🍷 in hand. Let the good times roll😎
  10. Having been bested by my love for great margaritas more than once, I’m laughing - ruefully- with you😜 Looks like you had a great day. I could dive into that guacamole right now😋 And the margarita too! Thanks for reviving my happy memories of meeting everyone on our fabulous cruise. I’ll definitely head over to MSC for your next review. Hope you and your mini me have a lovely week.
  11. We’ve mostly sailed in verandas or Sky Suites and I agree with your assessment. We decide which to book based on ship, price and availability of cabins/suites in our favorite locations. I guess we’ll need to give Tuscan Grill another look next time we book Equinox. Having had a few bad experiences in TG on other ships, we didn’t try it last time. Sushi on Five is one of our lunch favorites too. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed your review! Thanks so much for sharing your Blue Chip adventure with us. Btw I’m happy to see that the force was with you😜 Here’s hoping it will be with me in Apex’s casino later this month😂 Wishing you smooth travels home.
  12. Given the Beyond debacle, followed by the “vaping trial”, I wouldn’t rule it out. I’m gathering data on O, so please let me know how you like your cruise. It would be great to meet up with you two again😎
  13. I don’t want to hijack this thread, so I’d love to hear your opinion of the line when we see you two again🙂
  14. Their larger ships (Marina etc) have casinos, but I’m unsure about the smaller R class ships. You may be thinking of Viking Ocean, which doesn’t have casinos.
  15. @TeeRick while I agree with much of what you say, I refuse to believe that those of us who email the executive office have little or no impact. We are part of a larger group posting on other social media platforms, and they send emails too. Celebrity must know that they’re getting a trivial and skewed sample response during their onboard “trial period”. Onboard or on land, we should all give Celebrity our opinions while we have a chance.
  16. It’s $50 for our 9-night segment, and $100 for our 12 night segment.
  17. Understood. I know Europeans gamble. My post was poorly worded. In my response to @Georgia_Peaches post, I was trying to say that I hadn’t noticed the casinos on my Celebrity European cruises being as packed as some of my Caribbean cruises. That said, I have spent more time in casinos on Caribbean cruises. Thanks for the information about vaping/smoking and European ports. I knew about Australia and New Zealand.
  18. Do passengers on European itineraries have the same level of interest in the casinos that I’ve seen on some Caribbean cruises? Corporate doesn’t care about tobacco users who don’t gamble. I’ll admit that I haven’t paid much attention to ship casinos while in Europe, because I’m usually focused on getting up early to spend time in the next day’s port.
  19. Saved! All it took was cranking the B-52’s😜 “I got me a car, it’s as big as a whale…”
  20. I sent an email to the executive office Monday. Resent the email to the executive office and copied Ms. Hodges yesterday afternoon. Received a response from the executive office this morning. Oddly enough, the booking number for my upcoming cruise on Apex was included at the beginning of the response🤷‍♀️ Because I receive, on average, three marketing emails from Celebrity per day, I had not included anything but my email address and name in my email. I didn’t care about receiving a phone call, because I didn’t think it would achieve anything more than increasing my frustration with Celebrity. My form email response from the executive office differs from the one originally sent to others, but like the original, says nothing substantive.
  21. Thank you for using so much of your vacation time on the vaping issue! While it appears that your meeting was productive, I have questions about the phrase “the signage be removed in favor of word of mouth instead”. That sounds like they’re telling people they can vape in the casino, but they’re not letting the non-vapers know they may encounter vaping in the casino. That would be unconscionable. Ideally, we should be apprised of changes to the smoking/vaping policy before booking a cruise, but we should absolutely know about any changes made before boarding or while aboard. If Celebrity is allowing vaping in the casino, signs to that affect should be posted at every entrance!
  22. I emailed the executive office Monday. So far…crickets. I hope this means they’ve been flooded with enough emails, calls and comments from those onboard to think this is a failed experiment. It could be they’ve seen no increased casino revenue because not enough vapers are gambling, and non-vapers are avoiding the casino when vapers are present.
  23. Is it Princess or HAL that allows smoking in the casinos of some - but not all - of their fleet?
