Just off Navigator - food in MDR is so so disappointing

One entree was inedible, one was delicious but the beef was chewy, and I'm not much of a beef eater. If I had pulled the beef apart it would have been fine. So, I very happily ate veggies and gravy! Now on Day 7 and dinner has been very good since "chewy beef day". Love the increase in salmon entrees. We also have 3 of the cheese/fruit plates brought dailyto our table of seven for nibbles between courses. -

I am back on the Vision and very happy to report that most of what I've had to eat so far (day 4 now) has been very good. A few exceptions: one entree I politely sent back (very dry chicken replaced with fantastic eggplant entree), and I set aside the beef in my bourguignon, but the veggies and gravy were great! -
You are welcome! Yes, it sounds like the same one. Great for long tender lines.

I'm on the Vision now, and I'm guessing the casino system they are using may not be the same as the Anthem. I had to use my card. However, when going into my account on the slot machine I had to change my PIN from my month/day of my birthdate to some other 4-digit number. But, I also had to do that on the Anthem. I am on the Anthem on 1/29, so I'll post back then.

Keep an eye on this thread: Casino cash-out without using seapass card Go to the end of it, because on 1/6-1/7 I will be posting about how to charge to your room in the casino without using your seapass card. You do NOT have to insert your card if you're only getting the cash out and not gambling.

Thoughts on Recent Odyssey Cruise

Yes, well, I enjoy eating there when the ship is in WARM climates...................... -
We bought my husband a tri-fold camping stool with a carrying sleeve for him that he or I wore over the shoulder. Weighs about 1 lb, maybe less. He would take it off the ship in port, too. Those lines for the tenders were awful on his back. Always could sit down no matter where he was in the world.

My bad: I'm thinking of the Anthem. I get the two ships mixed up. -
I'm going to skip to an immediate post on this: If I want a second entree, I ask for it "appetizer sized" and on the same plate with my first one. Then you get what you want at the same time. (Sorry if this is a duplicate)

I forgot to mention the outside eating verandah in the very back of the 'Jammer. One of my favorite places to eat. -
Thoughts on Recent Odyssey Cruise

It's not well advertised, and almost anyone I talk to don't know about the trolley. Oh, and if it rains, or looks like it's going to rain, the trolley goes directly to the trolley "home" near the dock and you have to get off. It's an electric tram, sooooo...................... -

Yes, I found the more expanded Windjammer food stations to be better on the Odyssey and the Anthem. -
I was on b2b cruises several times between mid-November and mid-December 2023, and we did not receive our new seapass cards until after we were cleared by immigration, and started back to the ship again. Then, we had our choice of coming back on the ship or leaving.
-
My experience with the b2b process is when you get to the meeting place on the ship and check-in for the next cruise, you ask the crew member to give you an "in transit" card with your new seapass card. I don't think it's necessary to go to Guest Services for it.

Whoops! I read the title and assumed the OP was going to use the C&A e-coupons for coffee only.

Dinner before Mama Mia on Allure

I decided that the OP might have changed their mind after seeing the other (non-snarky) replies, and thought I would (in a friendly tone) suggest the whole evening be special. -
Does Startlink work decent on transatlantic routes
pcur replied to Bteam's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Bill: I'M on the Jewel Transatlantic leaving 4/5/24 from Ft Lauderdale to Southampton. You might want to check your info. But, the answers here are very helpful, anyway!!! -
I found on the ships I sailed with a CK (Allure, Oasis, Anthem, Odyssey), the quality of food was much better in the CK, as well as the service.

You can reserve at one of the specialty restaurants at 5:30 or 6pm, and make a really special night of it! Loved me my Mama Mia!! -

I was on the Vision when they changed the menus in mid-January 2023. It was a nightmare, for sure. I was on the Navi from 12/11 to 12/18/23, and found the food much improved, but I agree it's not up to pre-COVID levels. I don't have a complaint about the portion sizes, because I like to have multiple appetizers. I noticed while cruising in November/December that RCCL has brought back some of the former classic choices: escargot is now available, more salmon entrees during the week's menu rotation, and the reduced-portion fruit and cheese plate is back. These are items I consider my "staples" for dinner with RCCL, so I was happy to have them again. If I find I'm hungry for more than one entree, I ask for the second one "appetizer-sized" and on the same plate as my first entree. This seems to be acceptable. Example: I really like the mushroom risotto entree, so I ask for it as an on-plate side with my other entree. -
Just to clarify: per person / PER DAY.

If you are in Aruba again, there is a free trolley that starts at the dock. You'll see the tolley rails in the ground around the shopping huts. It's a 45 minute hop on/off around the local area. Very picturesque open air trolleys, too, that have been refurbished. -

OP: You actually say little about the ship itself. I can understand your preferences regarding food and entertainment, but I've sailed on over a dozen RCCL ships since early 2022, and find the Anthem and the Odyssey wonderful to sail on. The look and feel, and decor are quite lovely. The Via is a beautiful area to walk through, IMO. I like the different eating venues tucked away: 270 cafe on deck 5 for chai tea latte has no line as opposed to Starbucks in the Royal Esplanade. El Loco Fresh and the Solarium Bistro, too, are nice stops for eating. Entertainment is a very personal choice, so your opinion is the right one for you. I have enjoyed several of the shows you mention in your post. -
They brought the fruit and cheese plate back, and added another two nights with salmon as one of the entrees.
