  1. We did this for my son’s HS graduation... my son was 18 and his friend was 17.... my hubby and I had JS and kids were next door in standard balcony. It was no issue, as they were next door. I had notarized letter from friend’s parent( just the mom, as parents were divorced and dad lived out of state- no questions were even asked). The signed letter included ship name, dates, itinerary, permission to seek and sign for medical emergencies ( I also had copy of insurance card), permission to sign for any waivers for onboard activities and/or excursions.... there was never any issues what so ever and they have great memories that they still talk about today!! Do it!!
  2. Bummer.....well, doesn't hurt to ask and you have up to 48 hrs to cancel.....
  3. FYI...there are price drops going on (surprise, surprise)....I just called my TA to try and upgrade my cabin!
  4. I'm with you...already on the phone with my TA and looking to upgrade my cabin! Stay tuned......
  5. Oh wow.....bummer! They had 2 on Harmony......
  6. Sailing on the Oasis May 17th and our just opened yesterday!
  7. I am sailing on the Oasis in May (sailed Harmony which is sister ship to Oasis) and have also sailed on the Explorer.....Oasis class you need to reserve most shows, with the exception of a 2nd Ice show they offer and one of the comedian shows (I think one of them we did need to reserve). Depends when he is sailing, I am sailing May 17th and our cruise planner has not opened up to book any shows, as of today, so he should not be left out of booking any shows if he sails then or later!! It should be opening up any day now. Also, if he is sailing in May, he will need to pay in full, as it would be less then 90 days out..... All shows have a stand by line and I did see them letting those people in.....Your son will LOVE Oasis class, as there is soooo much more to do than when the Explorer has to offer, believe it or not!! After sailing Oasis class, I prefer the larger ships, but not everyone does. Hope he enjoys his cruise!
  8. You can check in together....I always checked in with my mother and she has always been a level higher than me. We have never been questioned, or told that I had to check in at a different place! This has been at Cape Liberty and Fort Everglades ports.
  9. Did they raise their prices? It was $22/day last year......
  10. OP will be about 6 HOURS away from PC at the time of the launch.....so this is doubtful
  11. Next time just tell your waiter that you would like ONE thing at a time and for them to bring out the next item when you have finished the other....I find that the waiters are very eager to do what the customer requests!!
  12. True story....on my Harmony sailing, somehow I missed that it was formal night. I have sailed many times and am not sure how this happened, but got caught up in doing stuff and never paid attention! Fast forward to dinner time in the MDR.....walking there I noticed all the photographers and some people dressed up (first clue)...then we got to the MDR and were walking through to our seats and noticed people had lobster (2nd clue)....then we got our menus and it said something like welcome to formal night (3rd and final clue!). Moral of the story: we DID NOT feel out of place or made to feel out of place at all! Mind you, we were dressed smart casual, but there were actually a few with jeans on!! So I will not stress at all about dress code, going forward!! Wear what you want and enjoy your cruise!!
  13. IMO they tend to jack up the price onboard, then have a 30% off or a BOGO to entice people to buy as they board. I think when I sailed Harmony, on boarding day it was like $65/day with a percentage off, but I had paid $52/day online. If I were you, I would just buy it online and call it a day. LoL. Enjoy the Harmony....LOVED that ship and I will be going on the Oasis in a few mnoths!
  14. yes, you would need to check your cruise planner for your specific sailing....it fluctuates from ship to ship and sailing to sailing! I find it is usually a better deal purchasing it ahead of time versus once onboard....although I have heard others report otherwise. RCI's beverage package is just VERY unpredictable and tends to change ALOT!! I would tell you to book it, if you are ok with the price and then keep an eye on your cruise planner...if the price drops cancel and re-book it at the lower price!! With that being said, when I sailed the Harmony, it was much more onboard! I think they were offering BOGO 30% off?? Which ended up to still be more than what I had paid...lol. Fake sales!!
  15. I like to book with Royal if there r any perks available, then switch to a TA to get additional perks!
  16. I got 5:30 by calling Royal directly, but if u have a TA, then they would need to call and request it! R dining and show times listed for ur cruise yet?
  17. No, probably not....MTD for 2 people was at least an hour and a half, if not a bit longer. We r sailing on Oasis in May and have 5:30 dining because of the show times
  18. I left on the Anthem, from Cape Liberty, last May and people were in the pool before we ever left port! It can be decently warm then....for some....lol. I sail out of Cape Liberty alot and even in March, it starts to warm up down by the Carolina's....so it might be good from the start, or at least by the 2nd day/evening, worse case scenario! Enjoy, I will be on Oasis on May 17th and can't wait!!
  19. We have always been able to get checked in right away and on the ship in about 10-15 minutes. Last cruise, we were on the Anthem by 10:30!
  20. As most others posted, I am not a huge fan of the itinerary, HOWEVER I love the Oasis class ships and had to fly to Florida to sail on the Harmony. So when I saw where the Oasis was going out of Cape Liberty, I booked her while on the Anthem last year! I live about an hour away from the port, so it is so convenient for me! So, the ship actually sold me on this cruise, not so much the itinerary (with the exception on Coco Cay!) I have been to Labadee about 4-5 times and never to Coco Cay, so really looking forward to this. Unsure if we will book any excursions...we usually do, however will probably enjoy the less crowded ship in PC and maybe just walk around the port in Nassau. We will see how I feel as May quickly approaches! I know one thing for sure~ that I will be enjoying my $18/day beverage package deal!!😎
  21. Sailed on Anthem last year and I live 1.5 hours away from Cape Liberty, so I cruise out of there, often! I LOVED the Anthem and there will be SO much for your kids to enjoy!! I have left out of Cape Liberty around the same time as you are going.....The only issue was that it was cold on outside decks until you reach down around the Carolinas, then it starts to warm up. Last night coming back, a bit of rough waters....the crew said that this is typical, as the ship moves from the warmer waters to the colder waters. I would not hesitate to go this time of year, but my usual rule of thumb for a Cape Liberty departure is: Mid April-July, usually sailing in early/mid May.....I have always avoided Aug-Oct due to Hurricane season( Might consider if I am doing a New England cruise). I always like to arrive at Cape Liberty around 10-10:15am, as there is a one lane road going in/out and it can get quite bogged down after 10:30. Can't help with hotels, as I always do car service, being 1.5 hours away. Enjoy your cruise and the Anthem!!
  22. I did a wine tasting class on Anthem...I think it was around $18pp and you got 5 or six kinds of wine, along with some interesting info. about each one and wine, in general. They also gave you a plate with cheeses and fruits. The wines were just ok and some were better than others. For the price, I thought it was ok, but now that I did it, I would probably not do the wine one again. This was the only alcoholic beverage "class" they had on our sailing. I am sailing Oasis in a few months, and have yet to see any being offered....I do have the deluxe beverage package, so not sure I would be too interested, unless the price was right and it seemed like something fun!
