  1. Forget the nightly trifle desserts in Waterside… Stick with See’s and book the World Cruise for your 100th birthday. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C1ndxRZvoWp/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
  2. @ryndam and @History&Wine, thank you both for sharing excellent observations.
  3. I’ve found Huatulco charming compared to most cruise ports in Mexico. Including the nearby town of La Crucecita, just a mile or so inland from the pier. We were destined there a second time aboard Symphony in 2010 when it was hastily added as a replacement to Acapulco due to all the violence. I remember a good deal of concern with Acapulco on the roll call before we sailed. The decision to skip Acapulco wasn’t made until we were already well into the voyage. Then, as it turned out, the winds were too strong to get into Huatulco, so Puerto Vallarta was added at the last minute!
  4. Hang in there. I’d hate to see you disembark a world cruise at the first port of call!
  5. 63F in Northern California… The shorts are on!
  6. Thanks to all who contributed on this sailing. Some really great reporting. 👍
  7. Glad you had a nice cruise. But still kinda ticked you were in my state and didn’t call or stop by. I would’ve sent Christmas leftovers home with you in my Mom’s hand-me-down 60’s vintage Tupperware.
  8. I’d have a mighty tough time with tonight’s menu… No, not because everything fails to appeal. QUITE the opposite. 🙄
  9. Crystal’s a great place to do a progressive dinner…👍
  10. Bon voyage and have a wonderful adventure! 🚢
  11. Friends of mine in their New Year’s greeting sent along this quote by Mark Twain.
  12. @CabinBoy2020, special thanks for the photos of housekeeping staff. It reminded me of our good friend @Out2See who’s partner several years ago musically highlighted the behind-the-scenes, unseen housekeeping staff who work hard cleaning during the night.
  13. Not entirely. They do use the old cavernous Pier 35 on the very few days there’s two ships in town. Maybe the historical society wanted to keep it as a memorial to Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds as that’s where they all hang out now. It’s a shame the new Pier 27 wasn’t built to accommodate more than one lone vessel. 🙄
  14. @travelberlin, the obvious moral of the story to this thread is to only sail from the Port of San Francisco where you’ll never have issues locating your ship! 😉 (not to mention a more scenic sailaway!)
  15. I can’t even arrange a bowl of cereal to look appealing. So you don’t want me anywhere near floral design! 🤣🤦 Good luck to you. 💐
  16. I’ve been using Rossi & Rovetti (in SF) for over 20 years. I found them when searching for not-your-ordinary floral arrangements to enjoy in our stateroom whenever we sailed out of San Francisco! I’ve never been disappointed. They deliver within the Bay Area, but I’ll caution you delivery to Fremont could be steep. 😉 https://rossirovetti.com/ I’ll also see if our other resident Bay Area cruisers have suggestions. @TER777 and @oakridger. Congratulations on your son’s wedding, and I hope you can find just what you’re looking for in a floral arrangement. 😉
  17. Here’s one of no doubt many news stories about the embarkation in SF on Tuesday. A good friend of mine is aboard, and she was just about to get into the shuttle to the hotel around 6pm when word came from Hyatt that they were curtailing the service. She finally got into her room onboard just after Midnite. I hope everyone on board is recovering from the inconvenience and enjoying themselves! 😉 https://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/crown-princess-passengers-frustrated-delay-san-francisco-mexico-cruise/3396692/?amp=1
  18. I’ve been on four Transatlantic sailings scheduled to call at Ponta Delgado, but have only made it once. …with a cigarette dangling from your mouth, right? 🤔
  19. It looks nice sans cigarette butts!
  20. ...and a reminder not to book a sailing specifically because a certain speaker/entertainer is listed (I’ll make an exception for Jim Brochu! 😍) We were anticipating a certain speaker *twice*, and both times they were taken off the list for who-knows-what reason. Life happens 😉
  21. A lot of people question why Princess (and other cruise lines) solicit upgrade bids on sold out cruises. My in-laws cancelled their top suite (2nd to top category on their ship) one day before departure on a sold out cruise. Their last-minute cancellation set into a motion a “domino effect” of several bid upgrades, especially so since they were in a top suite.
  22. A big thank you for sharing your thoughts and photos this past week. 😉 Safe travels home ✈️
