  1. This is a great idea. Even if you are flying in to debarkation, could still stop on the way at a school supply store (i.e. Office Depot). During covid, many stores even let you order ahead for pickup in store, so everything would be ready.
  2. Haven't been on here in a bit, but the best way to sum it up is, the exception doesn't disprove the rule. Don't go expecting that something will be okay just because it was okay for the previous person.
  3. So two items to update.... The reason I didn't see the refund on my CC, was the refund was issued to my previous CC number (same card, just an old number) that I used to pay for the cruise. It "should have" (TM) automatically gone to my new card, of course so the bank doesn't know why that didn't happen. For the points side, I wasn't expecting cash back, that was just wishful thinking. My point was the TA said they can't do a refund of anything paid for with points, yet they must have received all the money back from RC. Meaning, the TA is the one with my money. Anyway, I kind o
  4. Elected for full refund back in July. Followed up with TA today only to find out they had issued us a refund two weeks ago, but not told us.🤨 However they only refunded us the cash that was paid. The other part we paid for on points. TA is saying they can't refund points. To me I can understand if I chose to cancel myself, but the cruise was cancelled. Meaning the TA received back all the money they paid to RC, right? I'm sure this is complicated by the fact that TA and points company are both owned by the same parent... By "points" I mean I went to the rewards company and use
  5. Heard that our cruise was cancelled and now have official word from our TA asking us what we want to do. I understand the options themselves (Lift & Shift, 125% credit or cancel w/refund). What I want to know is what happens after you rebook? If RC cancels our rebooked cruise, do we get the same options again? What if RC isn't cancelling but we decide we want to cancel or rebook? I ask because my usual TA is offering an RC promotion of "free cancellation", but I don't know if it's their promotion, or they are claiming an RC promotion as their own. Are we still tied
  6. Perhaps given the number of discussions this could be pinned, since it has the actual details and not speculation. Just saw an announcement from Royal on their "Cruise with Confidence". Hope I'm not in violation here, by working around the web link rule, but it's kind of important that people know about this.
  7. Is there still some sort of free internet perk for C&A members? I recall DW and I would each use our perk on a different sea day, but now I don't see it in the C&A benefits at all?

  11. We cruised over Christmas once and enjoyed it very much. There are Christmas events and traditional Christmas menu added to the standard fare. Other than the decorations, it wasn't overly intrusive.

  13. We have done a few summer cruises. My own observation on summer cruises is the Solarium tends to be the older crowd. It's fairly quiet, so even if it is crowded it isn't that noisy. If it gets too hot in there, there is usually seating around the pool area. The overall demographic in the summer will be more towards families.

At 16 months and possibly walking, you might have to do a little more chasing, lol. - Bring an inflatable tub for bathing. - I *think* there is a kiddie spash pool. There was on Anthem and the ovation deck plan seems to have one in the same place. So bring swim diapers as it's the only water area for the non toilet trained kiddos.
  15. The table numbers move around from sailing to sailing, so hard to say for sure. You might be able to get someone on a current cruise over in the meet and mingle to check for you though. If it help at all, one of our first boarding activities is to go over to the MDR and find our table. Usually during boarding it's quiet enough that the maitre'd can try and find you another table if you don't like yours (if there is space).
  16. From doing a few trip with DW and her mother, balcony should be big enough, but from my own experience, there are usually only two chairs. Might be less of a problem for you but we also found the balcony is a good place to wait while others get ready.
  17. Keep in mind that although there are ways to share, the internet package is per device, so they may block sharing. Sort of like other policies where it's in the rules, but they may or may not choose to enforce it.
  18. This article to me seems more like click bait, but at the same time could discourage a new cruiser from considering RC.   20. Anthem Solarium "hack": If you go to the very front of deck 13, there is an unmarked door that leads down a hallway which comes out on in the lower area of the solarium.
  21. It looks like there are a lot of people hanging over the edge trying to get pictures and video. Does anyone know if there are collision protocols where they try to keep passengers back from the edge? I would think a sufficient collision would jar the ship enough that someone leaning over could be knocked overboard.
  22. Interesting because last time we went on Oasis, they had a free meet the cast one afternoon in the jazz lounge or somewhere. I guess it wouldn't be RC if they didn't take something popular and free and tried to make money off it.
  23. We wanted to do a cruise out of NJ, but the regular prices were crazy. So we held out for the KSF sale and just thought we would see what was available. We lucked out because our school start tends to be slightly later than some of the US. So we grabbed last week of August at a lower fare than other weeks, plus KSF. It's about the only time we can take advantage of any deal, since DW works in education and doesn't get any time off during school that isn't shared with every other family.   24. It was a little while ago, but my last cruise (Anthem), iFly and Northstar were not available to book in the planner or even the app on board. You had to go in person to sign up for iFly (they said it's because they wanted the waiver signed ahead of time) and Northstar was first come first served.
  25. Popcorn is never a waste! Anyway, we aren't supposed to name TAs, but I wouldn't even normally deal with this company. Just they are the only way to use my particular points to buy a cruise. Would definitely not use them again either after waiting 5 hours on hold to speak to an agent (again, can't book online using points). Since it sounds possible, rather than having told hold again for any further problems, I'm going to see if I can get RC to take control of the reservation and maybe even hand it off to my regular TA.
