  1. In 2015 I was frequently offered a discount in Italy if I paid in cash, and an even greater discount if I didn't want a receipt (which usually meant the proprietor had no intention of declaring the income). It was an interesting moral dilemma....and could conceivably lead to an unpleasant involvement with the Guardia di Finanza.
  2. Do NOT take a taxi (very expensive since you will be crossing state lines). If you can. fly into Newark (EWR) instead.
  3. Fill your tank. I got trapped in North Miami in 2005 for several days because there was no power to the gas stations that had not been destroyed.
  4. You can get Hepatitis A anywhere you eat, even in the U.S. I am told that Hepatitis B is harder to get, unless you have sex with someone who is infected. 12. Are they available in inside Studio cabins on the Merigavilia? Or should I bring my own? And yes, I have tried asking MSC Customer Service and they had no idea.
  13. Is he planning to play with his own money?
  14. He will be seasick. He will (probably) not die.
  15. When I lived in Southern California, a 4.0 was hardly noticeable....
  16. It's a lovely hotel, but the location...well, you either love it or you hate it. As for Trieste, it's a long way from Venice---two hours or so by bus;
  17. Take it. Things can change, and you never know when or where you may need it.
  18. There is always room to compromise over money. When it comes to AI, we see no way to compromise.
  19. All I can tell you is that in 1987 I was stopped by the Carabinieri; it was not a pleasant experience.
