  1. Yes agree the toast with the poached egg or scrambled egg is weird and not sure why they serve that I always as for egg without.

I do miss the thick toast and the thick toast fried bread do they still serve it on any other ships??

  2. apologies for my ignorance what is the reason for this? does this mean then that to do the Cunard TA your baby would have to be over 12 months?

I have grown up children but just interested in this post. At a guess it is probably due to medical assistance availability?

  3. The breakfasts in the MDR are my fav. meal on board, breakfast is a messy meal to prepare at home and never tastes the same when you do it your self. I never eat B/fast at home but once on board I develop a cooked breakfast obsession. I do miss the golden triangles though and have fed back to P & O

  4. We have done the Caribbean a good few times which was always good on the Dreamliner, we don't like the seat configuration though, it's put up able outbound, but in-bound stuck in the middle of a 3 or someone climbing over you all the time on a night flight I find a tad stressful, so we requested TC last December when we did our first Britannia cruise and found it to be excellent the food was the best we have had on a charter flight.

The 2 seats together made it a lot less stressful for me in fact the food was better than our recent Emirates flight last week where one meal was okay the other was awful we were economy though!!

If it were me I would ring P & O let them know your reason for wanting Thomson and I would bet you will get it they are not going to start your honeymoon off on the wrong footing and I think they fill the Thomson plane first before starting on the TC.

  5. We couldn't find anything negative about Britannia if fact as said many time it has a lot of ++++ shower screens, buffet, atrium not being a dance floor.

We just prefer Azura and Ventura the entertainment venues suit us better.

So would be our first choice and maybe we will go on the Britannia in the future if the itinerary or the price suited our requirements better, after all it's still the good old P & O product we know and love.

  6. If you like dancing then the Britannia because it has the Crystal room with a dance floor unlike the Azura and Ventura where they use the Atrium.

If not then I would go for Azura, we have been in the Caribbean on Azura, Ventura and Britannia and with out a doubt prefer Ventura and Azura.

We had a lovely holiday on Britannia and it is a lovely ship with a lot of pluses to the other 2 ships, the bathrooms with the glass shower screen are great, the buffet arrangement is much improved, more tables for 2 in the MDR again much better, TV's much better.

Why we like the other 2 best, prefer the pool arrangements, the pool at the back of the ship is much better, the balcony's, we prefer the entertainment venues as we like the Marlbar and Tamirind bars for the light music they provide every night.

The only reason we would choose Britannia over Azura in the future would be if it was a lot cheaper, we would pay slightly more for the Azura this is of course subject to the itinerary if there was a particular island that we really wanted to visit again we could be swayed.

  7. Done the early December Caribbean for a few years on Azura, Ventura and last year Britannia we will do the same this year but on the Azura not Britannia. We like to fly to the sun, 12 hours after leaving home we are in the sun that's why we like it. Eight days at sea would be too much for us again after doing TA Southampton to NY.

December we have see a little bit of rain but no much

  8. I am not a Britannia lover much prefer Azura and Ventura for Caribbean cruising, Princess looks more glitzy than Britannia. The man in glasses at reception would do my head in, I do hope he doesn't behave like that when someone is showing dissatisfaction at something!!

I am liking the program but not liking the most sales award thing bit over the top and false in MO.

  9. You can only drink it in your cabin. If they catch you with it elsewhere, it will cost you dearly!

why what do they do we saw people come out of their cabins with drinks and then went back to re-fill if P & O are as good at sorting that out as the sun bed situation then guess loads of people do it??

what I should say not loads of people just the 2 couples in the cabins facing ours

doesn't bother me what they do really as I am on holiday I just found it amusing as it was so obvious what they were doing just interested in what P & O do about it or have done about it in the past

  10. It's not that much of a problem on a last night it just takes a bit of planning, we did the formal night then went back to the cabin at 11pm changed and packed formal clothes, cases outside the door and off for last few drinks - loads of people did the same and we were not restricted where we could go that last at night. We had a fantastic last night it left a great memory.

  11. Britannia nice ship but not for us, same reasons as Josy 1953, we also missed the gallery, the pool at the back of the ship, the middle lounge, Marlbar or Tamarind (cannot remember which one is on the Azura) not sure if the cabins were smaller on the Britannia but they felt it.

We had a lovely holiday in the Caribbean on the Britannia but wouldn't be our first choice again, we really wanted to see the ship and are not sorry we did she is really nice but as said not for us.

  12. We were on the 5th December Britannia cruise and the sun bed issue is an issue on sea days!! We have cruised many times on other P & O ships and it was a bit of an issue but not as bad as this year.

I saw arguments, pushing and shoving and heard some very colourful language in fact could have written a short book on the comings and goings I saw.

The man that had 2 beds - never saw his partner but her bag, hat, own towel and other belongings were on the bed, he maintained that as the towel wasn't

P & O's no one could touch it!! he spent more time sat at the bar!! Very nice man though.

The man that bragged he had beds at the back of the ship as well as the front.

The woman who turned up at 8.30 having a right go at her partner for in her words 'a waste of time waking you up to get these **** sunbeds'

The couple who left the kids guarding the sunbeds (4 beds) while they were missing for 2 hours - don't even start thinking where they went!!

The ones who get up really early grab all the tables and space the sunbeds out with them.

I could go on and on, it didn't spoil my holiday and I am embarrassed to admit that I joined in on one of the sea days, I arrived at the Serenity pool at 06.55 to claim the last 2 sunbeds!! I am sure some people sleep out there!! I did stay there only nipping off for some breakfast for about 20 minutes when my partner got up. What really made me laugh on that day was they were all out facing the, sun beds spread out with tables, and the captain changed direction and they were in the shade!!! A lot of them just got up and wandered off leaving the towels on the beds - guess they had sunbeds elsewhere.

Final note no problems with a seat in the theatre sometimes not the best of seats but still enjoyed the show.

  13. We just did the pre Xmas on Britannia to the Caribbean, when our case finally came off (last) it had been damaged so we went to the TC desk whilst in the queue to fill in the forms the couple in front of us were reporting their suit carrier had not arrived!!!! The gentleman was very upset said he had 2 suits in the carrier both expensive.

My OH only takes one suit - his tux, I pack it at the top of the case just before we leave the house and it always arrives in perfect condition, I do pack it in a lightweight suit carrier with a hanger so it keeps its shape and our cases are large ones that only needs the suit folding once, when we get back home and it has been in the case a long time it is never creased.

I wouldn't risk a suit carrier and it is one more thing to keep tabs on.

Hope this helps and enjoy your cruise

  14. We travelled cattle class with them for the early December Britannia cruise and were impressed, we have always flown Thomson on the DL and usually paid for extra leg room. I liked the seating configuration just 2 seats, the food was the best I have had on a charter flight, James Martin got it right even the snack before landing was good.

Cabin crew very nice, polite no attitude like previously seen with other airlines where they think they are better than the customers.

Will request TC on next holiday in preference to Thomson.

  15. My OH travels in a pair of black jeans and takes a pair with him, they last him for all the none formal nights, we take his tux and 2 formal shirts.

I do a few loads of washing in the launderette mid cruise and we are fine.

I do also wash most of our clothes in the launderette before we leave that way the clothes can just go away when I get back home - this year I just a a light and a dark load when I got home which was great with all the rain we have had recently.

  16. I am waiting to see info on this as well, also if anyone is doing a package with a weeks stay that would be of interest to us

I know someone who did a weeks cruise over Xmas on a Thomson ship (it was docked in Barbados behind the Britannia when we left just before Xmas) then a weeks stay in Barbados now that sounds good

  17. We dropped our hand luggage in the Meridian, just kept with us what we needed for our day on board, after breakfast we sunbathed until an hour before our flight was due. We then picked up our hand luggage and changed ready for the airport. We sat at breakfast with a couple who were flying independently (not a charter flight) they had done the same as us.

I asked why we were using the meridian and not the theatre the rply was to make it easy for the guys, to save them keep going up and down the theatre stairs - well done P & O thinking of their staff.
