  1. We are Diamond and have 3pm, Fantastica with inside cabin. Next month in a balcony we have 11am. 🤦🏻
  2. We’ve ended up with 3pm on cruise ticket but 11am on a confirmation to upgrade drinks from premium to premium plus 🤦🏻

Here is a recent press release that talks about the maiden cruises. http://www.mscpressarea.com/en_GB/press-releases/3938

The capacity issue is confusing. 75 to 80% occupancy is far higher than 1,000 passengers. Did they explain more?
  5. Never sailed with MSC and have now booked a May & June 4 / 7 night UK cruise. Does anyone know what the dress codes will be? MSC website seems to suggest codes are formal (to or dark suit) and informal (jacket) but no number of nights.
  6. Cover For You appear to and have slot of detail in their FAQs. Holiday Extras Gold cruise cover also seems to but does not cover cancellation if you are told to isolate by NHS track and trace. These are my interpretations of the policy and should not be considered advice.
  7. Looks like Holiday Extras have finally amended policy wording on Gold Cruise Policy (p31) to define abroad as having embarked a cruise ship. Still no cover for cancellation if you are told to self isolate by NHS track & trace. https://www.holidayextras.com/images/groups/insurancemagenta/policy_wording/GoldCruise0421.pdf
  8. Pre authorisation of larger sums tends to be common. Again the actual policy wording is key. There maybe times in an emergency when pre authorisation may not be possible (heart attack) as immediate treatment is needed.
  9. My cover was through a NatWest bank account. They told me in a phone call all UK treatment would be covered by NHS so no medical cover. They couldn’t grasp the concept of a ship at sea in UK waters
  10. Not necessarily. They are suggesting Holiday Extras who have not yet, as far as I am aware, put anything in writing. Their policy wording excludes UK treatments etc. Devil always in the detail with insurance.
  11. Cover for cruises in UK waters for UK people. This is a minefield once you get into the policy wording. Many cover medical treatment abroad but specifically exclude treatment and repatriation in UK, you have to read the small print in the actual policy not the headlines. They assume UK means on land and don’t necessarily cover travellers needs in UK waters. Cover for You have updated their information for UK only cruises. First company I have seen who have done this. This is not a recommendation merely pointing out the detail you need to clarify with your own insurers. Link b

  14. There are not many policies that will cover you for travel when the government tell you not to. If the government in the UK ban holidays again I’m guessing the cruise company will cancel the UK sailing.
