  1. We brought 4 bottles and showed our boarding information for both weeks. They looked at it and let us go through.

Same for us on the Conquest this past January. Just make sure you have both sets of boarding passes.

  2. I hope that is not true. About a year ago I had someone who was going a b2b get me some Johnny Walker Blue and she had no trouble saving it for me when I boarded..

Were they at the end of their 2nd leg? If so that would work, but as I said earlier there have been a few posts that reported that their booze was held till the end of the 2nd leg and they were unable to claim it at the end of the 1st leg.

  3. We've stayed at the Embassy Suites on 17th twice so far and would definitely stay there the next time we cruise from Port Everglades.

Besides the complimentary full breakfast consisting of made to order omelets, pancakes, waffles, potatoes, and more than the usual hotel breakfast, there is also an evening Manager's Reception every night. Offerings include a selection of free adult beverages :D and munchies.

Directly behind the Embassy Suites, a five minute walk, is a shopping plaza. There are restaurants, shops, and a supermarket that sells wine

We always ask for a room on a high floor overlooking the port. The views of the ships coming in to port is wonderful and a great start to vacation.

There is also a Total Wine & More which has a much better selection of wines in the same plaza (Harbour Shops).

  4. Nice thing about Platinum and B2B, you get the full benefits for both sailings even if you didn't turn Platinum until the second leg. After final payment, your boarding pass for both sailings should show PRIORITY.

This was the case for us this past January. We did not turn Platinum till the second leg but were granted Platinum status on the first leg also.

  5. Oh, I was going to ask if there's some way to know which ones will open so I know which ones to ask for - how is that shown? I know how to tell which cabins are connecting, are those the same that have opening dividers? Will definitely confirm with my PVP. Thx!

On all the Spirit class ships the dividers open and secure to the balcony railing, all they block is some of the view. On other class ships they secure to the bulkhead and if they block the door from the balcony to the cabin they won't open them.

  6. Well that's good news, we fell in love with the rear facing cabins, but with so few available we may not get them anyway, and opening up the dividers may be more important to our friends - thx!

There are a limited # of clamps available so someone from both cabins needs to go to GS as soon as you board to make the request.

  7. We are looking at booking 2 extended balconies on the Miracle, do the dividers on any of the balconies open up? We are hoping for the rear facing cabins, but it could change our minds if they don't but others do, we did this a few years ago on one of their other ships with 4 balconies and it made the space so much bigger.

If they do, is it this way on most of their ships? We know miracle may be in China by that time, so we'll be on a different ship then - thx!

Miracle's dividers do open and secure to the railing, at least on the regular balconies. Not sure about the rear facing rooms.

  8. FYI: We just did a B2B on the Glory out of Miami and contrary to what the carnival rep told us and what has been reported on here... YOU CANNOT BRING ON 2 BOTTLES OF WINE EACH!! Even if you show both of your boarding passes. They took our second bottles and had us go to the security supervisor who assured us we would get them on the second half...NOPE! we went down and asked and were told sorry- they have been disposed of already! The service desk said this has happened before and did comp us 1 bottle of wine in the dining room. very frustrating though!

Aside from that small annoyance.. we loved our B2B and had an amazing trip!

We did a B2B in January on the Conquest out of Ft Lauderdale. We each brought on 2 bottles, along with the documents for both legs, they didn't say a word. Maybe it's the luck of the draw on who is on duty?

  9. When I log onto Carnival's website, under "My Cruise Details" it shows all my information including my room number, but when I try to print my cruise documents, wherever the room number should be, it says, "TBA." I am still 50 days out from our cruise, if that makes a difference.

I did call my TA and she didn't see any problems, but I am wondering if anyone else has had the same experience.

Did you book where Carnival selects your room? Whoops, a minute late I guess.

  10. I just got off a quickie 3-nighter on the Inspiration. The platinum gift was what I think is called a packing cube - it's a brick shaped small duffle (maybe 18 inches long? - I can measure if you'd like), and it zips around it's edges to collapse it to a small rectangle so you can pack it, and then use it if you need another bag. What I'd really like is another Tervis, I had 2 but lost one and then lost the other lid.

It would be great if there were someone in the SF Bay area to meet up and trade, but I'd mail this one out if you'd mail me one of the Tervis tumblers!

Actually I think what you received was the small duffle bag, not the packing cube.

  11. We're scheduled on a b2b in 2018 and will turn platinum on 2nd leg. PVP informed me we would get our platinum cards and privileges for 2nd leg, but not the first.

We were in the same situation on our last cruise. We did get our Platinum cards when we boarded for the first leg. Call them back,we spoke with 3 different reps before we got the response we wanted.

  12. If you are in FLL you may never get off. That is one messed up customs area.

We have sailed out of FL many times and have never had a serious problem/delay at Customs. We do debark early so maybe the later you leave the ship the longer the lines are.

  13. Well I'll be a son of a gun...sounds like I may be the only cruiser that actually got a deal on a watch purchased onboard.

Last March while sailing on the Pride they had a sale on Citizen watches, 35% off or something like that like. I saw a watch I liked, decided to treat myself. I did the same thing when returning home and checked prices, was surprised to find what I paid on board was less then prices I saw online and a couple of retail stores. Just did a quick search online, current prices at various online outlets are still considerably higher. Guess I got lucky.

Not the only one. I got a good deal also on a Citizen watch a few years back when sailing the Freedom.

  14. We used the free trolley last month. Very easy to use. We walked up the street though and did not catch the trolley at the stop across from the pier because it was packed.

Same with us this past January. There are "guides" at the pier that can direct you to the stop and also let you know which trolley to take depending on where you want to go.
